Stablish High-school.
Cindy White POV
I came to school early the next day, this was me, coming when only a few people have arrived, I love being punctual, I got to class, my two friends were not there yet, it was normal, they were not as punctual as me.
I sat down on my desk in class, turning pages of my book, not even knowing what to read in particular, just a few students were in class, and it was less noisy, I could hear a few students discussing how well Suzy's party had been.
I didn't want to think of the humiliation I felt that Saturday, I had cried over it and taken my mind off it, I lean my chin on my hand that was on the table, still flipping through pages when I noticed I was no longer alone.
I looked up to see my two friends, standing in my front with their eyes filled with sadness and I wonder what was wrong. "Are you both okay?"
"I am sorry." They both said at a time, I was surprised at the apology and I sat up, leaning back to my chair to take a proper look at them, and I noticed they stood like kids that knew they will be punished for their wrongdoing.
"For what? I was still puzzled as to why they were apologising.
"You left the party early," Janet said curling her lips upwards with a few blinks, her hands in her front and looking like a sad little puppy.
"We also heard that Jeffery humiliated you at the party," Janet added and I closed my eyes momentarily, I was sure the news has circulated, now I don't even feel like hearing that name again.
"We were so occupied with the music that we didn't realise you were absent," Janet said again with her soft voice, I saw them having a blast at the party and also drinking, and now I was glad that they didn't see me.
"It's okay, and I didn't leave because of humiliation, I left because I was feeling sleepy." I lied, this will make them at ease a bit and the class was filled now, having them stand there in my front was getting more attention to me.
"Really?" Kelly asked and I nod. "Okay." I saw the smile on my two friends face again and it made me happy, they can both be drama queen.
Just then our home teacher came into the class and everyone rushed to their seat and was quiet, finally, the whispers about the party were over.
We all saluted him and sat down. "Listen up students, it is girls meter race today, so everyone should come out dressed with their gym clothes." He told us and left the class.
"Cindy, I trust you can do this race." Janet face me with a smile, I admit I was good at sport and almost everything I participate in, but today I didn't want to do it, all because of one person.
I held my stomach, pretending to have a stomachache. "I don't think so, I am having a stomach upset, and if I run, I can't be able to take it." I bite down my lips, to make it more convincing.
Janet looked at me worried. "You have to go see the school nurse." She told me and I nod, putting all my book into my locker.
"I will go now." I got up from my seat and left the class heading over to the nurse office, I won't let Jeffery find out who I am, not when he had forgotten me, not after he had humiliated me, I knew that if I go out for the sports, they will call my name, so all I have to do was avoid it.
Jeffery Walsh POV
We all came out dressed in our gym wears just as Mr Henry, our homeroom teacher had told us, I could see eyes staring at me, I know I look handsome, I still love the stare and how much they ogle at me, only I wish Cindy was here to do the same.
"I wonder where Cindy is?"
I heard someone said behind me, and I turned around at the mention of Cindy, I saw a group of girls talking and I wonder if I was hallucinating again, or could there be someone named Cindy in this school.
On second thought, I shook my head, if it was Cindy, I would have recognised her at first sight, I turned my head to watch the race that has already started.
Mr Henry called out the name of female competitors and the race commence, others cheering them on, my eyes were on Suzy who was a good athlete, she could run, but I know she was mostly doing her best to impress me.
She will glance at me from time to time and flash me one of those her beautiful smile, Suzy is a pretty girl and there was no doubt in that, I know she loves me and I was leading her on, I also love having fun, maybe later she might see the clear picture.
I was still looking at Suzy when I heard what made me turn sharply. "Where is Cindy?" Mr Henry asked the students, and I blink, wondering if I heard clearly.
"She's at the nurse office, she got a stomachache," Kelly replied and I was confused and turned to my friend.
"Chad, did I just hear Cindy?" I asked him and he nods, my brow knitted, cause I was still confused. "Is that...Is that the Cindy White I know?" I asked him again to be clear.
"Yes," Chad responded and I heard the whistle for the next race but my head was clouded as u couldn't believe what I had just heard.
"Our childhood friend?" I asked again and Chad nod, I got up from where I sat without any other word, tears filled my eyes, Cindy White is in this school all along and yet I didn't know, I didn't recognise her.
