Cindy White POV
"Cindy." I heard a familiar voice a few minutes later and closed my eyes, not wanting to face who it was.
"Leave, I don't have the energy to face you right now." I grip the sheet of the bed I lay, my back turned at him.
"The reason why you ran away during riddle class and race gym class, lying to be sick and ill were all because of me right?" He asked and I pressed my lips together wishing I could close my ears too and not hear a word from him.
"So that I would not know your name or find out that you are Cindy White, you know.." He paused. "You are the cause I did not find out who you are, why did you hide away huh! Why don't you listen to me?" I could hear the pain in his voice but I was silent.
"You are so mad at me that you can't even look me in the eyes, Cindy I want you to hit me all you want, I want you to curse me all you want too." Tears filled my eyes, rolling down to the sheet. "But, I don't want you to run away from me or hide, I don't want you to leave my side, so curse me and hit me, Cindy."
I turn around in anger. "Hit you!" I shouted with tears and I realise he was also crying, but I was too angry. "Curse you?" I scoffed. "That would be also a waste of my energy." I look him in the eyes. "Jeffery, I am tired of you!"
"I am tired of your lies, I hate being narrowed or deceived, so let me be now." Tears rolled down my chin, hitting my hand that was on my laps. "I want to hate you so much, I want to hit you so hard and curse you, but I just can't, I just can't do those things and I am angry at myself, so let me be, leave now!" I pointed at the door. "I want to be on my own."
"Cin..." He stares at his hand to touch me but I pushed his hands off.
"Get out!" I Shouted. "Leave or I will." I grit my teeth as if understanding me, Jeffery hesitated for a while before walking out in tears, as soon as he left, I buried my face on my palm and cry uncontrollably.
Suzy's POV.
The school was over for the day, I saw Jeffery alone walking out of the gate, he had not looked at me today and I was scared that he will hate for hitting Cindy with the ball, he must have noticed I did it deliberately.
I had to confirm so I blocked his path, just like I always do, making him stop to face me. "Jeffery," I called out. "I feel bad after hitting Cindy at the volleyball court, it's all my fault, is she hurt?" I asked, putting the sorriest expression on my face which was all face.
"It is not your fault, it was only a mistake." He told me softly as he looked at me, I breathe a sigh of relief, glad that he hasn't suspected anything.
"She won't think so, she thinks I did that deliberately." I blink and looked down, wow, I am a good drama queen I thought in my mind.
Jeffery placed his hands gently on my shoulder. "Suzy, in sport, people get hurt by mistake, so it is alright." I looked up at his blue eyes that hold an emotion I can't quite read, but I know he was not thinking of me even though he looks at me, it was all Cindy.
"Jeffery, can you please hang out with me today, I think that my worries can't go away, I will keep thinking of it if I don't ease it out fun." I blink, finding an excuse to hang out with him.
"Suzy..."
He was about to protest but I blink again. "Please, huh." He seems to hesitate for a while, but on second thought he nods. "Thank you." I smiled.
"Where do you want to go?" He asked me and I was glad he asked for my opinion, to me I consider this as a date.
"Let’s go to the karaoke and bar," I told him, we were old enough to take few bottles of beer, I was already an official adult.
We came to a small cafe after stopping by at the karaoke and singing few songs, I had sung him a love song, but was too boring and my voice was too terrible to continue.
We order some beer, there were only a few people who were minding their businesses in the cafe, we sat at a corner and drank quietly for a while before I broke the silence.
"You know what?" Jeffery looked at me, waiting for me to continue. "If you have anything troubling you, if ever you are in pain right now, drop it on this table." I touch the table. "And dink it out."
And for the first time today, I saw Jeffery smile. "Thank you," he said softly and sip his beer, by the look on his face I know he must have tasted beer before, the smile on his face disappear. "Suzy." He looks up at me.
"Yes." I paused the glass on my lips and put it back on the table.
"I found out where Cindy is and who she is." The smile on my face disappears just at the mention of Cindy. "She is in our class and it is Cindy White." He took a large sip of his beer. "I didn't recognise her, Suzy, I said I will be that at first sight, but I did not, now she hates me for it."
For the first time I saw tears in his eyes, he was crying for another girl, it was too annoying to watch, I wanted to scream at him to stop crying for Cindy and to look at me, but I couldn't.
