Mr Henry blew the whistle again and they began. "Bella bump, Janet quicken your speed and tighten your fist! That's right, hit it higher, you are doing good over there." Kelly grounded the ball to Suzy's team and they earn their own goal and the others cheer.
Few minutes, Mr Henry blew his whistle for a short mini-break, and they went to rehydrate, Russeli walked over to Cindy with a bottle of water, he hands it over to her and she took a sip. "You're doing well over there," Russeli told her with a smile.
"I am just being lucky." Cindy knew that she was just ducking the ball whenever it comes close to her and Kelly or Janet always step in to hit the ball over, she was useless to the sport.
"You are still trying your best." Russeli flashed her a gentle smile, if this was her first step, it was a good one.
Suzy saw Jeffery staring at Russeli and Cindy, she walked over to him and block his view as he faces her. "How am I doing in the sport?" She asked with a smile when she saw he had given her his attention.
"You are doing your best, a thumbs up for you." He gave her a thumbs up with his finger with his cute smile on his face, Cindy on the other hand turned and saw Jeffery talking to Suzy and her eyes met with Jeffery's but she quickly looked away.
"Thanks." Suzy smile still staring at him, knowing that she was just trying her luck here.
"Okay girls, return to your positions." Mr Henry called out and they did, Suzy looks at Jeffery and saw that he was still staring at Henry, this was annoying her and her eyes became aflame.
The sport started again and this time Suzy purposely targeted Cindy, she hit the ball in Cindy's direction and Cindy's team were not too fast enough to stop it, the ball hit Cindy on her head and she fell to the ground and fainted.
Everyone gasped, Jeffery runs to carry Cindy but Russeli beats him to it, shoving Jeffery aside, he picked Cindy up. "Chris, go inform the nurse." Chris left in a hurry and Russeli carried Cindy, heading to the nurse office, Jeffery stood still as he watched them leave.
"Sir, it was a mistake, she couldn't defend it," Suzy told Mr Henry, pretending to be sorry.
"It is okay Suzy, I know." Mr Henry said softly. "We need a replacement, Salsa, you have to take Cindy's position." He called out and Jeffery faced the teacher in anger.
"I told you that would happen!" Jeffery pointed in the direction of the nurse office. "Now after it did, you are finding a replacement!" He shouted in anger and without another word, or a glance at anyone he walked out of the volleyball court.
"Cindy, Is Jeffery angry because Cindy is hurt?" Vera asked Suzy softly.
Suzy who was already angry as it is turned to Vera with dagger eyes. "Let's just finish this game, there is no such thing!" She turns her head to the exit that Cindy had been carried away from. "That Cindy is always good at causing trouble." She muttered.
"Okay girls let's begin." Mr Henry who had been silent for a while blew the whistle.
Cindy White POV
I woke up with a slight headache at the nurse office, I was lying on the bed and I remembered that I was hit by a ball, I gently open my eyes to see Russeli sitting next to me. "Russeli," I called his name softly and he looked at me with a worried expression.
"Cindy, are you alright, do you hurt anywhere?" He asked, looking at my face closely and I wonder what else a volleyball would do when it hits a person's head, apart from a slight headache, I only pray that I won't be laughed at for fainting cause of a volleyball.
"I am alright." I sat up gently and Russeli helped me. "Just a little dizzy."
"Why did you not opt-out from the sport like you normally do huh!" He asked me with a frown, he must be angry that I let myself get hurt rather than backing off. "Or did you do this because of Jeffery?" His question made me look up alarmed.
How did he find out? I laughed it off. "What are you saying?" I touched my head and look down. "I did that because I am tired of running and hiding." I look up at his face with a thin smile on my face.
But Russeli was not gullible, he knew me so well. "You are hurting because of Jeffery aren't you?"
I look away immediately. "Russeli, go back to class now, I want to rest a bit please." I lay down and turn my face away from him.
"You always send me away with an excuse whenever you don't want to answer me honestly." I must admit, Russeli is good at reading people, I heard him sat up. "I will leave then, but I will listen to you whenever you are ready to tell me about it." He left and I apologise to him in my head, closing my eyes slowly.
