I looked at the living room of my old house when I just arrived after teaching this afternoon, a week has passed since my mother left, this house looks very quiet, I often stop by here as much as possible. I exhaled heavily through my mouth, at times like this Mama would usually be seen sitting on the sofa in the living room with a cup of tea, watching television and then she would smile when she saw me coming.
“I miss you mom.”
Tears stabbed in the back of my eyes as I said those words with all the sadness I felt, as if he could hear it, and I’m sure he heard it. Margaret emerged from the kitchen, she smiled kindly when she saw me.
“Mrs Valentino, is there anything I can help you with?” she asked, she was a housekeeper who had worked in my house for a long time.
“Where’s Ron?”
After my mother died, this house was occupied by Ronald and I intended to give this house to him, apart from the fact that I would have my own house with Sean, he is my only male cousin who is very close to me like a sibling, and he agreed with my idea.
“He’s swimming in the backyard, you want something to eat?” he offered, I thought for a moment then I decided to make onion rings. Margaret immediately returned to the kitchen and I immediately found Ronald in the backyard, I stood and rested my arms on the door frame folding my arms under my breasts, the man was drying his hair with a towel. Ronald is a handsome man, his career started from modeling to film actors, it seems that two of Cortez’s uncle’s children are very interested in the world of cinema, many female actresses and singers he has dated including my favorite singer, at first I did not believe it, until finally he gave me Taylor Swift concert tickets even gave me access to the back stage and met Tay-tay in person and in person, that’s where I was able to get her autograph on my favorite guitar.
“Heeeeyyyy, my Maike,” he cried when he saw me, well, he’s the only one who calls me that, I rolled my eyes as he walked towards me with his arms open, I smiled shaking my head, then I walked over to him and got into his arms. He kissed the top of my head and hugged me a little tight then we broke our hug.
“You miss me??” he asked with a confident smile, I pouted and he laughed, he put his arm around my shoulder and we sat on wooden beach chairs on the back porch not far from the pool.
“I heard from Carrie you’re going to New York tomorrow.”
Ronald took a sip of the cola can that was on the table beside the beach chair we were sitting on.
“Yeah, I got an offer to shoot a month’s worth of films there,” he replied and I nodded proudly, he’s such a talented man.
“You want to bid me farewell?” he asked and I immediately shook my head, actually I have another purpose why I brought up this matter.
“I want to come with you to New York.”
I looked at my fingers that I was intertwined, it wasn’t without my intention to go there, there was someone who made me want to go there.
“You want to come to New York with me?? What for?? You have important business there??”
Ronald bombarded me with questions, I nodded nervously.
“Hey, what is this?? Why don’t you just go with Sean??”
And this is the real problem, the man is in New York right now and I want to follow him there without his knowledge, something has been making me suspicious lately.
“He’s in New York right now, I want to go check something out.”
I turned my face to look at Ronald, he looked at me confused, but I could see his trying to guess the problem I was having right now. Should I tell him?? Oh, my God, ever since Caroline got married we haven’t seen each other a lot.
“What’s wrong?? There must be something going on between you two,” Ronald guessed and his gaze said ‘tell me-now’ just like Caroline when she demanded an explanation from me. I exhaled heavily, I think I need someone to talk about this.
“Recently Sean often receives calls in the middle of the night, I don’t know who he is with, but he hid it from me, and two nights ago when he was talking to that person in the library room in the apartment, I heard him, I purposely stalked him and he agreed to meet in New York,” I said summarizing what had happened to me over the past five days. Sean didn’t usually hide things from me, and this felt very odd and hurt me too. Ronald seemed to think he was tucking his lips into his mouth, a few seconds later he nodded.
“So, what’s your plan?? How do you know where your husband and that stranger met??”
I smirked.
“I want to track his cell phone, which is why I need your help,” I said with the triumphant smile I held back as best I could. I know he’s tracking my phone too but I’ve thought of that plan. Ronald looked at me with a look of surprise and amazement.
“Looks like we’ll be playing the role of spies.”
Ronald smiled widely and I felt a feeling of enthusiasm inside of me. Ronald will help me with this plan and I hope I can get the answer later.
