Sean was on the phone on the balcony of the living room while I was busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen, I was baking bread when suddenly morning sickness attacked me, I turned off the stove then shifted to the sink. Sean’s hands immediately massaged the nape of my neck while I was still vomiting in the sink, I straightened my body when the nausea was gone. Sean was standing right in front of me, his gaze serious and careful, dammit! Maybe it’s time.
After our hot shower a while ago, we got dressed and headed to the kitchen for breakfast, but I wasn’t planning on starting this conversation.
“Is there something you didn’t tell me?”
My hands rested on the edge of the sink. I nodded while looking down, mentally steeling myself so I could say this, My Inner Goddess squeezed the bottom of the dress she was wearing, her expression tense.
“I’m pregnant,” I said then raised my face to look at Sean. He was shocked then his golden net seemed to harden, the next second he turned away from me while combing his hair, he cursed and took a sharp breath then he turned to look at me I could see the anger there.
“Are you doing this on purpose??!!” he asked through gritted teeth, my heart stabbed with a needle of disappointment.
“No, I didn’t expect this either,” I replied, tense and surprised.
“Do you think I’m ready for this???”
His voice starts to rise, I fold my lips into my mouth looking down, neither of us ready, neither him nor me but this has happened.
“Sean, I wasn’t ready for this either.”
“Then WHY DID YOU DO IT??!!” he shouted angrily, my body trembled at his angry scream, oh my God, I didn’t expect him to react like this. I took a sharp breath and then exhaled, it’s time for me to argue with my face lowered for a moment then look back at him.
“It’s not only me who did this but you too, we did this together, how can you just accuse me??!!”
I started to get carried away with emotions, we looked at each other with angry feelings that swept over us.
“You said you were going to use contraception.”
My Inner Goddess fell unconscious while my senses hid behind her leather chair, I exhaled loudly through my mouth.
“I forget.”
Sean huffed and then snorted.
“You did this, Ana, not me and it’s all your fault,” he said then left me feeling hurt, I was surprised by the sound of the door closing loudly.
I burst into tears as I covered my face with my hands. It was all my fault, the accusations cornered me and gripped my heart, my body slumped to the floor. My hands move to my stomach, what should I do?? This will be a long debate. I heard Sean’s footsteps approaching, I immediately wiped my tears then stood up, I saw him passing through the kitchen to the main door, where is he going?? When I went to see her figure had disappeared, suddenly that empty feeling came over me I walked over to the sofa and sat there.
Coward!
I snapped angrily, we had a fight, he blamed me and then he left. I rested my head on the top of the couch, exhaling trying to calm myself from this anger and sadness. Let Sean think about this no matter where he’s going at the moment, at least I gave him something to think about. I went to my room to change clothes, I looked at my Ferrari car keys, I didn’t want to wear them and walked out of the room to Sam’s study. I told the man that I was going to my mother’s house, I refused his desire to take me, after that I left the apartment, I walked to the bus stop not far from Century and waited for the bus there.
My mind is full of my fight with Sean. He blamed me for this pregnancy and it hurt me, how could she think that this pregnancy was completely my fault?? When I got home, my mom was going to her boutique, the housekeeper told me Ronald was in the basement. Before following the man into the basement, I first had breakfast, I ate the seafood fried rice left over from breakfast and then drank chocolate milk. I looked at the swimming pool where the water seemed to reflect sunlight from the transparent roof that sheltered it, maybe later I would swim, then walked over to the door on the right side of the pool.
Gunshots sounded loud in there, it seemed that Ronald was practicing shooting. This basement serves as a shooting and sports practice room that Ronald likes. The man turned and then came over to me and gave me his special hug, he took off the earplugs he wore during his shooting practice earlier.
“Want to give it a try???” he asked as I looked at the gun still in his hand, I nodded curiously, he motioned for me to follow him then he showed me his collection of handguns that were on the table. Ronald picked up one, I don’t know anything about weapons but I’m a little interested in knowing how to use them.
“These are the types of handguns that police and law enforcement are used to, give it a try.”
I grabbed the gun while Ronald put on earplugs in the form of earphones to drown out the sound of gunfire. He taught me how to hold it and how to use it, when I tried to hit the target on my first shot, I hit the target, I turned to Ronald the man clapped and raised his hand in an OK sign, he smiled as brightly as I smiled widely, this was fun then I try shots to two to five shots. Wow!! This is amazing, I put the gun on the table then removed my earplugs.
“Not bad, maybe you can pass the shooting test to get into the FBI.”
I chuckled at Ronald’s statement, we both left the basement after cleaning up Ronald’s collection of pistols, he put his arm around my shoulder while I wrapped my arm around his waist.
“How’s Brazil?” I asked just out of curiosity, Ronald pouted his lips then exhaled loudly.
“It’s special because of someone’s presence,” he admitted and I saw his rare smile, the smile of a Ronald when he was in love.
“Really?? Who is that woman??”
We walked through the glass door that separated the backyard from the room adjacent to the living room.
“A student who happened to be on vacation, from Indonesia.”
It’s so rare for a Ronald Cortez to fall in love, but I’m glad to hear it’s finally happened to him. That means his feelings for me will soon disappear, feelings that will never be reciprocated. My Inner Goddess breathed a sigh of relief, we sat on the sofa in the living room in front of the flat screen television.
Ronald went to the kitchen to get a snack, while I turned on the television, my cell phone which I placed on the table in front of me rang showing a foreign number, when I was about to answer the ringing stopped, I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly then put the thing back in its original place. Ronald came with a potato chip snack with barbecue seasoning, cola drink, and canned orange juice for me. We watched a replay of Roger Federer’s match at Wimbledon which had just ended in England. Caroline came with Andrew an hour later, the couple joining us in the living room.
