I lay on the bed closing my eyes took a deep breath then let it out slowly, I wanted Sean to be here with me. The bedroom door opened showing the figure of Rani, the woman immediately approached me with an anxious expression.
“Oh my God, Ana, how can you be so reckless? Going to work just drinking milk Sean would be very angry if he was here now.”
I bit my lower lip as my mind imagined Sean’s anger.
“I’ll call the doctor to-“
I suddenly felt nauseous and wanted to throw up I got out of bed in a hurry to go to the bathroom and threw up in the sink, strange, nothing came out, only clear liquid from my mouth which was my saliva, I spat then turned on the faucet water. Oh my God! Don’t get that heartburn again, I hate it when I can’t eat while I’m starving. I wash my mouth then turn off the faucet and come out of the bathroom Rani looks invisible in the room, I don’t know where the woman went I sit on the edge of the bed on the side I sleep on.
Rani comes from the balcony of the room she smiles as she walks towards me.
“I called the doctor to come check on you,” he tells me and I nod that’s better because I want to get better soon.
“Have you ever felt like this before?”
Rani looked at me curiously I shook my head this is the first time.
“It’s the first time before it’s fine, what’s wrong?” I want to know, Rani shrugs her shoulders and smiles a little. Sam came and said that Doctor Grace had arrived, I frowned, Doctor Grace??! Why is he here?? Rani told Sam to take Grace’s doctor to the room where we were. A woman who was probably the same age as my mother approached us, she had gray eyes and a friendly smile, her hair was neatly tied and she was carrying a black square bag. Rani got up and shook the friendly doctor’s hand then Doctor Grace sat where Rani had been sitting.
“I want to check your pulse.”
I reached out my right hand but Doctor Grace asked for my left hand. My mind immediately conjectured, could it be?? I was nervous for a moment then Doctor Grace took something out of her square bag and gave it to me.
“I just wanted to make sure,” he said which made me even more nervous. I grabbed the tespack in his hand and headed to the bathroom. With slow steps I headed to the bathroom, if I’m pregnant I want to know Sean’s reaction, while we haven’t discussed this further.
I looked at the thing after using it properly, my senses and the Inner Goddess were dumbfounded to see two red lines visible on the pregnancy detector. My heart suddenly beats at an extra speed, I’m happy because I’m going to be a mother soon, but on the other hand I’m afraid of Sean’s reaction, he always says he’s not ready for this. A knock on the bathroom door startled me and Rani’s voice sounded panicked, I immediately stepped towards the door with a giddy feeling I held the tespack firmly in my hand.
“How? Are you okay??”
Rani pointed at me with a question, I who was downcast nodded then looked at Rani and showed her the thing his eyes widened and his face showed joy.
“I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!” he cried excitedly, he hugged me who at this time could only stare where I was standing we went to Doctor Grace and told me the results he smiled and congratulated me. I shook his hand with a clumsy smile. Mrs. Liam came to bring my food she smiled with a look of joy, she must have overheard our conversation when she came here to deliver the food after that she left us. Doctor Grace wants me to meet her at her clinic tomorrow for further examination. Rani also escorted the doctor when she was going home, I sat on the edge of the bed staring at the testpack, which showed two very clear red lines.
“Don’t tell Sean about this, I’ll tell him myself.”
I looked at Rani with a look full of my pleas, she nodded with a serious face, I sighed and she sat beside me.
“I know this is new for you and for Sean, I’m sure you guys can handle it.”
Rani held my hand, giving me encouragement and support, I nodded uncertainly and hoped that we could resolve our debate well.
Caroline came to see me at the apartment in the afternoon, Rani had left an hour ago because I urged her to come home and said I am fine at least I know my real condition. After resting and eating, my condition is back to normal although now I have to be more careful because there is something special inside of me, I smile and touch my stomach which still looks flat, I’m about to have a baby, my mind is thinking of a handsome baby boy like Sean.
“Hi, are you okay??”
Caroline came over to me who was sitting on the living room couch watching an old movie starring one of my favorite actors Keanu Reeves. Caroline sat beside me and then she took the chocolate waffle that was on the glass table in front of us and ate it.
“I’m pregnant,” I told him while staring at the television screen showing Keanu Reeves’s close up face, he looks handsome in this The Matrix movie.
