Ariana's POV
I opened my eyes at the beeping of my alarm and stretched lazily on my bed, my eyes caught the time by my bedside, it was 6:39 am, "damn, why does this always happen to me?" I quickly stood up from my bed, I must have sleepily snoozed my alarm to this time, it was supposed to ring and wake me up by 5: O'clock, I quickly changed from my robe and ran to Dylan's room, I had been up most of the night worrying about him, I raised my hand to knock on his door just as it suddenly swung opened as if he has been expecting me, he was all dressed up and I was puzzled by that, "are you going somewhere?"
He stared at me for a moment and raised a brow, "you must be suffering from loss of memory, let me remind you that I have a business to run"
He was going to work? Although he looked all Hale and fully recovered but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't rest a bit to make sure he has fully recuperated, "I have my memory intact, I just don't think it's the right thing to do"
I saw a faint smile at the corner of his mouth, he certainly looked amused, he twitched my chin, "I see my dear slave is so concerned about me today" his voice sounded playful and I didn't know what to make from this unusual cheerfulness so I kept mute, since I knew him, he has always been crumpy, cruel and arrogant, perhaps the incident has affected his brain, "coffee?" He suddenly asked nodding at me once again making me confused, "what?"
"You're supposed to get my coffee every morning, remember? Or are you perhaps neglecting your duty?"
I shook my head as I mentally hit my head with my palm, "I'll get it" I replied before running down to get him his coffee, he was sitting on his couch when I entered with his coffee, his eyes followed me as I walked from the doorway to where he was, his gaze was intense that I felt the heat right down to my marrow, I was self-conscious and suddenly so aware of him as a man, the coffee tray I was carrying shook violently in my hands and my legs wobbled, threatening to give way. I placed his coffee in front of him and added a spoon of sugar just as he liked it, he held my gaze as I tried to offer him his coffee, he made to move to collect it from me, my heart beat accelerated and sweat beaded my forehead, I don't understand where these feelings are coming from, "y...y...your Cof...coffee" I managed to pushed out from my clogged throat, he made as if to receive it but instead held my wrist and dragged me closer, I fell beside him on the sofa, I felt my blood rushed to my head and my heart thudded frantically in my ears, feeling the euphoria of the moment, I closed my eyes as he dipped his head so close, I could feel his breath fanning my cheeks, then my ears, I heard him whispered, "thank you" before he shifted, collecting his cup of coffee from my hand, I didn't even realize that I was still holding it,my eyes flew open and searched his, I needed answers for what just happened, his eyes were cool, void of expression as he calmly sipped his drink, I stood up feeling flustered as I brushed off non existent dirt from my skirt, I needed answers to what was happening to me, was it just me? I opened my mouth to ask exactly that, "what...?"
"Go get dressed, you're coming to the office with me" he cut off what I was going to ask him, I stood there for a moment, feeling unsure whether to pursue the topic or to let it slide, he raised a brow when he noticed I was still standing there, "didn't you hear what I said?" His tone was cool and former and there were no traces of the man who just played with me and who was about to kiss me, perhaps, the feeling was one-sided after all, I must be insane to even think that Dylan Sabastine will even want anything to do with me.
I followed closely behind him as he walked into his office, as usual, my head was bowed like a lost puppy following its new owner, I was about to enter with him when I felt a hand grip me, my eyes shot up to meet Eric's, "what are you doing? Let go of me" I fired at him in a whisper but instead of letting go of me, he dragged me to a corner, I twisted my hand until I was finally free from his grasp, "why have you brought me here?" My eyes shot to the entrance of Dylan's office to be sure that he was still inside, I wouldn't want him to see me with Eric, he might get the wrong impression, "I need to talk to you and I need you to listen"
"Whatever it is that you have to say, can't it wait? As you can see, I just got here and I need to give Dylan....." He grabbed his hair as if he was frustrated with me and puffed out a breath, "Dylan... Dylan... Dylan.... you're all about him, can you for a moment stop thinking about him? He whispered fiercely and I was taken aback, I wondered what's up with him today, "are you okay?" I laced my voice with concern as I asked him and he nodded, "of cause I am okay" I frowned at his reply, I might as well listen to what he has to say, "tell me what you were wanting to say to me"
He grabbed my shoulders as he stared deeply into my eyes, I had a strange premonition that what he was going to say would not be welcomed by me, "don't you want to know who you really are?"
I tried to swallow the clog that had formed in my throat, "what do you mean who I really am?
"Who you really are and how your mother died"
My heart almost dropped to my toes when he mentioned my mother, I grabbed him by the collar and shook him with all the strength left in me, "my mother?" I gasped amidst the pain in my heart, the pain that the mention of her name brought, I do not have any memory of her except flashes of unclear dreams and being hated by my family because of her, "how do you know my mother? What have you got to do with her death?"
"Listen to me Ariana, I have nothing to do with her death but I know she was murdered and you have to avenge her death, only you can"
I shook my head vehemently, not understanding anything he was saying, "I don't believe a word you say? How do you know she was murdered?" He was silent, staring at me and I gritted my teeth, pushing him away, tears dropped from the corners of my eyes and I moved back, away from him in slow motion and in a daze, he took a few steps towards me, "I can't tell you how I got to know but you have to believe me, it's the truth"
I raised my hands as if to stop him from coming further and to stop him from talking, "do not say anything more, I don't believe a word you say? Who would want to murder her and why?"
He shrugged, "that's what you should find out and you have to avenge her Ariana"
I can't believe what he was saying to me, how could I believe him, I barely know him so what does he know about my mother, no, I won't be that gullible as to believe him, I turned to go but his next words stopped me on my track, "Ariana, you have to believe me that your mother was murdered and only you can avenge her because you're supernatural, you're a witch".
