Ariana's POV
immediately we entered his company, I felt the aura was not as it used to be, workers were staring at me discreetly, I could feel I met some of their eyes and they quickly averted it, they greeted Dylan politely as usual but their eyes were on me, what was going on, have they somehow found out about Dylan and me? I heard someone whisper "looked at her" and then hissed maliciously, Dylan must have heard that too because he suddenly stopped, his eyes blazed as he stared towards the direction of where the sound had come from, "who the hell did that?" He thundered, there was absolute silence, even a pin could be heard if it drops, they all stared at each other, fear clearly written on their faces, "do I have to repeat my question? The more I repeat it the more the consequences will be for whoever did that and if I don't get who did that, all of you here will have to pay on the behalf of that person" there were murmurs as eyes turned to a particular lady, she must be the culprit then, Dylan also noticed who they were staring at and his eyes zeroed on her, wide-eyed, she hiccuped twice out of fear as she slowly came forward, her legs shaky and she continued to clean her palms, they must be sweating also for sweats had already formed on her upper lips and another ran down from her forehead to her cheeks, the place was well ventilated and the air conditioner was on, yet this lady was sweating profusely under Dylan's glare, "I see you don't like your job anymore" she gasped at the question, the realization of what was about to happen to her hitting home, "please Sir, I very well like my job"
"I don't think so, just go home, you're fired"
"Please Sir, I'm sor...sorry" her eyes darted from Dylan to me and then to other employees who were standing quietly, probably hoping we could plead on her behalf, tears dropped from her eyes and ran down her cheeks as she knelt down in front of everyone," please Sir, no company would want to hire me , I am sorry, I didn't know why I said that, I promise it will never happen again" she was crying so hard that my heart went out to her, I shouldn't interfere with Dylan's office matters but this somehow concerns me as she was being sacked because of me, I cleared my throat tentatively and all eyes averted to me, "er...please Sir, she has apologize, kindly give her another chance, she has promised not to do it again" there was a pretty long silence as all eyes averted to Dylan, he glared at Olivia some more before giving his verdict, "stay away from gossip," he said simply and turned on his heels, completely ignoring her thanks of gratitude, I wondered with his attitude, what's the need to do that? I ran a little to catch up with his long stride, he stopped suddenly and I bumped into him and would have fallen but for his timely intervention as his arms wrapped around the small of my waist as he steadied me, I heard the collective gasp of the employees who saw us but there must be too scared to even make a sound after what just happened, they would be wondering what was going on with their boss and his slave, they all carefully averted their gaze as if they saw nothing, his eyes scanned the building as if searching for something or rather someone, "Bobby" he called out, no sooner had he called out the name that the Bobby guy appeared, "did you do what I asked of you?" Bobby's head bopped up and down, "yes Sir, should I take her there?" Dylan lifted his hands, waving him off, "no thanks, I'll do that" Bobby's eyes widened in surprise, "Sir...y...you m...mean you'll take her there yourself?" Dylan's stare froze him, "you got a problem with that?" He quickly shook his head as he answered no sir and left, what was it that Dylan want to do himself and who is the her that bobby was referring to, "what was going on?" I asked him, unable to contain my curiosity, "you'll find out, follow me" he took me to an office directly opposite to the window of his office, I didn't know what the office was used for, as far as I'm concerned, it hadn't been used by anyone, now it's completely cleaned up and smells so nice, "do you like it?" He asked and I whirled to face him, "what are you up to Dylan?" I asked breathlessly, not daring to believe what my heart was telling me, "this is your new office, you're now officially employed in the fashion bureau " I gawked at him like he has suddenly developed a horn on his head, I couldn't believe what I just heard, "what?" I asked, I know I sounded dumb and stupid but it was too good to be true, I just wanted to make sure that I heard it right, he walked closer to where I was standing a few feet from him and shut my gaping mouth, "you've always wanted to work here, so I thought that I should employ you," he pinched my chin as he said, "you're now my employee, don't you like it?
Like it? I'm head over in love with it, my heart melted at his thoughtfulness, and tears brimmed in my eyes, "hush! No tears" he murmured, using his thumb to wipe off the tears, I hugged him tight and immediately let go of him when I remembered that we were in the office, that we had sex doesn't mean that he stopped being my boss, office has its rules and it must be followed, I sniffed," what's my job description,?" I asked wondering what it is that I will be doing here," your job description is being my woman" my eyes widened on their own accord, "are you for real?" I feigned aghast, in as much as it was a joke, my stomach did flip-flops at his reference to me as his woman, he laughed softly at my exaggerated bewilderment, "let's say, you're my personal helpline, you're to help me at whatever assignment or whenever I need your help"
"You just created this job space so you can employ me right?" "Hmmm" was his only reply to my question, he doesn't have to say anything anyway, "I have a meeting to attend to right away, I need you to just stay here until I return" I decided to go through some company's paperwork and policy that I saw on my desk to kill boredom, there was a soft knock on my door before it opened and Olivia came in, "er...are you busy?" She asked, her tone sounding unsure, "do you need something from me?"
"No, I only want to thank you for what you did earlier, even though I was rude to you, you still stood up and pleaded on my behalf"
I was unsure of how to answer, I didn't really do that to earn gratitude, "ah! It's nothing"
"Of cause it's something, if not for you, I wouldn't have a job by now, I'm sorry for what I did earlier, we were all just shocked when you were suddenly given an office, we were not aware you applied for a job" her voice trailed off as she stared at me, probably hoping I'll fill her curiosity by telling how I got the job, as I have nothing to say to that, I was quiet, "anyways, I'm just thankful, can we be friends?" She offered her hands for a handshake, I stared at it, was she actually requesting that I be her friend? I have never ever had a friend in my life, I tentatively return her handshake, "friends," we both said in unison and she laughed in what I feel was a peal of nervous laughter, she sashay out of the door and I glanced at my hand that I used in Shaking her, I had just made my first friend on this planet earth.
Dylan's POV
"Are you alright Sir?" someone asked me for the umpteenth time, I was brought back to focus by that question and I nodded, I have been distracted in my meeting by the thoughts of Ariana, staying a moment without her by my side was a complete torture for me, I need her with me every moment of the day, the meeting finally came to an end and I rushed back to my office, I looked at her through the window and drank in the sight of her, she was going through some paperwork on her desk absolutely oblivious to me, I had given her that part of the office so that I can see her from my office, I shut the window and sat down, "get hold of yourself, Dylan, you're not a kid anymore, you're twenty-eight for crying out loud, stop acting like a lovesick puppy" I admonished myself
