Eric's POV
I knew I was taking a risk by going against him so openly but damn, I couldn't control my anger, I was so blinded by it that I acted on an impulse, to Ariana he is her love but to me, he's her biggest threat, I saw surprise flashed across his face when I seized him by the collar but it was immediately replaced by anger, I threw a blow at him but much to my chagrin, he easily dodged it, that moment, blinded by hatred and anger, yes, hatred was exactly what I feel for him, pure, undiluted hatred for this werewolf and it makes me mad that I can't kill him, at least, not in this lifetime and the reason for that is an age-long connection between the both of us, I could only inflict pain on him but I wasn't able to take his life, I lack the power for that, I threw caution into the wind and risk of being discovered, I decided to make some mantras of pain-inflicting spells.
Dylan's POV
I was at first taken aback when my office door was suddenly thrown open recklessly and Eric walked in immediately followed by my secretary, "Sir, I tried to stop...." Her words had trailed off and turned into a gasp when Eric grabbed me by the collar, I waved at her to leave us, she looked unsure but complied with me and left us, I was so infuriated, how dare he? He had definitely messed with the wrong person, I am an Alpha, the strongest of my kind and he was no match for me, I easily dodged his attempted blow and held him by his neck, slowly, I lifted him off the ground, I could feel my claws dig into his neck and blood oozed out and then a scent hit me, I stared at him, wide-eyed with surprise, how could I have let that slip by me, he is a damn wizard, he must have used a spell to erase his scent but I can now perceive it because of his blood that oozed out from his neck, I could feel my fangs coming out, "so you're a wizard" I stated as a matter of fact and laughed wickedly, "you think you can go against a werewolf? You're no match for an Alpha werewolf"
"Stay away from Ariana" he rasped and I laughed, enjoying his pain as my claws dug deeper into his flesh, "tsk, tsk, you don't tell an Alpha what to do, Alpha tells you what to do"
"Someday, I'll make you eat your words" fires flashed in my eyes at his audacity and I dug my claws even deeper making him choke, he closed his eyes and chanted some words and I could feel pain ring in my head, spells, he's lies if he thinks I could bow to it, pain is part of me, I flung him away from me and he hit his back against the wall and groaned in pain, pains zapped through my veins making my blood boil, yet I refused to give in to it, I struggled towards him and bringing out my fangs, I bit him on his shoulders, he screamed in pain, "why? Can't you endure the pain and cast a little more spells?" My voice dripped with sarcasm and would have bitten him again but I suddenly held footsteps coming towards us, that unique scent of hers tells that it was Ariana, I quickly changed back to complete human, "you can't hide it from her for too long, I'll expose you" he gloated and I pounded him a few blows just as the door opened to reveal Ariana and some security, "Dylan stop, let him be, please, he's gonna die, you've already beaten him to a pup" I stared at Eric and it was then I realized he was already unconscious, his body was covered with blood, "take him out of here" I instructed the securities who came forward, their faces filled with fear, "don't be scared, he's not dead, I just put him in his place " I replied to their unanswered question and watched relieve flooded their faces, I'm not that of an idiot to kill someone right in my office, "are you alright?" Ariana's wide gaze met mine, she didn't ask any more questions, she was simply satisfied with my nod. The securities carried him out and I eyed Ariana, 'are you not a little bit curious about what just happened?" She stared at me silently, "I don't need to ask, I know that whatever you did, you must have a very good reason for it" I was touched by her complete faith in me, and I suddenly felt guilty that I was keeping something from her, I will have to tell her about my true self very soon, Eric was right, I can't hide that fact about me forever, sooner or later, she's going to find out about the fact that I'm a werewolf, I wondered why Eric was so overly protective about her, I suddenly felt like ripping out his heart just for daring to even think about my woman.
My woman, my mate, I growled, filled with the urge to claim her again and again
Ariana's POV
I had no idea what Eric had done to make Dylan so angry, thank goodness I got here on time to stop Dylan, if not, only God knows what would have become of Eric, I had held his scream from my office and the secretary had told me what she witnessed, at first, I was scared for Dylan, Eric is a wizard, after all, so I quickly took some security and went to the office only to see Dylan, beating up an unconscious Eric, I had feared the worse but thank God he's not dead. I turned to leave without another question and was already at the door when I felt him behind me just a moment before the door closed right before me, I whirled on him, "what ..." My question was swallowed in his mouth as his mouth came crashing on mine.
