Ariana's POV
One minute I was standing on the road, waiting for the truck to hit me and end my miserable life, and the next minute I was in my angry master's arms, where did he come from, and how had he managed to move that fast? Why did he save me? I just wanted to die, what would he matter to him if I'm dead anyway.
"You should be happy he saved you, he doesn't bother himself with other people, let alone a common slave" I glanced up to see a brunette with large brown eyes staring at me, she was dressed in a red gown with Sillitoe's, she looked classy enough. I had noticed her earlier with Dylan and wondered who she could be, she must have read my thoughts because she suddenly smiled, crossing her arms across her chest, "I'm Myla, Dylan's girlfriend" she stood looking at me as if waiting for a response or reaction from me, her eyes narrowed as she glared at me, "don't you ever play such cheap pranks ever again to get his attention with that she stomps off leaving her words ringing in my head, cheap prank? She thought I did this to get Dylan's attention? I stared at her retreating back, "Dylan's girlfriend" of cause he will have a girlfriend, what do I think? A man of his caliber will definitely have a woman in his life, what I don't understand was why it would affect me so much.
"Do not mind whatever she said to you" a voice said from beside me and I turned to see Eric, I was so preoccupied with my thoughts, I hadn't heard him walk up to me,
Before I could think of a reply, he suddenly grabbed my shoulders and shook it hard, what were you thinking trying to kill yourself, I was surprised at his fierceness, "what does it matter to him if I kill myself? We had only just met today, I stared at his hands on my shoulders and he seemed to catch himself because he suddenly let go of me and ran his fingers through his hair, "I'm sorry, I was taken aback seeing what you almost did, I didn't see you like a suicidal kind of person" he explained rapidly and I sighed, "I never thought I was suicidal either" I muttered under my breath
"Was it you boss?" I was confused at his question but before I could ask for clarification he did it, "is your boss treating you unkindly? Was that why you wanted to take your own life? If you want, I could speak to him" he made to move away but I quickly grabbed him, "no please, I'm okay right now, you don't have to confront him"
"He should confront me, I am here" Dylan's voice boomed and I gasped as Eric faced him with narrowed eyes and clenched hands, "please Eric, don't just go, I promise I'm fine" I pleaded and it seems to take an eternity before he exhaled, obviously giving in to my pleas, I exhaled along with him as relief flooded through me and watched as he simply turned and walked away. I looked at Dylan, who was still staring at Eric's retreating form with darkened eyes, a muscle still twitched in his jaw, he was obviously still angry, he looks like a man no one dare go against, I was grateful that Eric had gone, I tuck my hair behind my ears as I cleared my throat, his dark gaze diverted to my direction and he snarled at me, "I see you've gotten a new friend" his said coldly and I shivered as I shook my head in denial, "I only just met him today" I bowed my head as I replied quietly
"Anyone who dares go against Dylan Sabastine will have himself to be blamed" his words sent a chill down my spine, I didn't doubt his words for a second, he was a man who would do just exactly as he has said and anyone should fear going against him. He turned to leave and I followed behind him
Dylan's POV
After rescuing Ariana, different emotions had coursed through me, I had been terrified when I saw her trying to kill herself, what if I hadn't gotten to her on time? How could she be so stupid as to try to kill herself, thank goodness for the speed of my wolf, I had gotten to her just in time but I don't understand the emotions trying to tear my heart into two, so I had left her as soon as I rescued her amidst the protest of my wolf, it had wanted me to stay with her and offer her as much comfort as possible but I wasn't good at offering comfort, in fact, I don't know how to show comfort or any soft spot, so I had left her after saving her to rein in my emotions.
"Why did you rescue her? She's just a slave, isn't she? If she wanted to die you should have allowed her" Myla's voice said from behind me topping my annoyance, she must have followed me, I had forgotten all about her, "why did you save her? You've never used your power to save a human, in fact, you've never used your power at all after....." Her voice trailed off but I knew what she had wanted to say, I've never given my wolf freedom nor used my card old power after my parents' death but oddly, it seems that since I met Ariana, I've gradually started doing all of that.
"What's special about her that you have to do that because of her, you risked being exposed" Myla whined and I got irritated
"Enough Myla," I said just as she opened her mouth, "you're in no position to lecture me and I owe no one any explanation on what I do", I looked at her straight in the eyes before adding "you of all people are in no position to question me" I saw her flinched and I smirked before walking away from her, I walked towards where I had left Ariana and noticed Eric with her, does she know this man? I walked towards them just in time to hear him tell her he'll confront me, how dare he? Who is he to want to confront me? I could feel my wolf moving restlessly, it must have felt my anger and waiting eagerly to pounce on whoever had made me angry but felt disappointed when Eric backed away, I gazed at Ariana who was staring at her hands, I felt like throttling her at the same time I felt like hugging her, "hug her instead" my wolf advice
"Shut up Lien" I growled and was stunned, this was the first time since my parents' death that I had called my wolf by its name, my wolf must be stunned too because it grew still before saying quietly, "it's been ages since I last heard my name from your lips, this lady must be my lucky charm" I simply shut him out as I turned to leave with Ariana following closely behind me.
The drive back home was done in silence, I was wondering what was still furious with her for trying to take her life, " I'm sorry" I heard her say softly from beside me and I glanced at her pale complexion before I could respond, a black SUV suddenly came out from the other side of the road and drove right at us, I swerved to the right avoiding it just in time before it could hit us but wasn't able to avoid the sudden sharp cut by the right, I struggled with the control of the vehicle as it rolled towards a cliff, it stopped at the edge of the cliff and dangled for a moment, I heard Ariana screamed just as the car couldn't hold it's balanced and it plunged down the cliff.
