Dylan's POV
I frowned in impatience as I watched the stack of unsigned contracts on my table, they are the names of new models that have been hired. Ouch, let me introduce myself, my name is Dylan Sabastine. My father was an Alpha before his death and I am supposed to be the next Alpha but I couldn't lead the red moon pack with the death of my father still hunting me.
I was reckless as a teenager and lived with my parents as he leads the red moon pack, before I shifted, I had always dreamt of what my mate would look like, I was anticipating my eighteenth birthday, it was the time that most wolves shift and they perceive their mates, someone they would love for the rest of their life. My whole life, I had watched my father loved his Luna with such a fiery passion and had always dreamt of loving my mate the same way. As a teenager, although, I was waiting for my mate, I was infatuated with the beta's daughter, I had loved beta Cain's daughter, Myla from the first time I set my eyes on her and secretly prayed to the moon goddess to make her my mate and you can't imagine how elated I was when on my eighteenth birthday, my wolf finally manifested itself and my prayers were answered as she was my mate. I was drunk with happiness as I couldn't wait to make her mine, my parents congratulated me and were happy for me. I quickly ran to her packhouse which was located not too far from our own house, on getting there, my heightened sense of smell perceived she was not alone, she was with a man, probably her boyfriend, the thought of it tore at my heart as my hearing caught their words, pledging love for each other, I held my heart that was already pounding painfully and pushed the door opened, maybe if she knew she is my mate she would come to her senses, I was ready to forgive her and accept her as my mate. As predicted, she was with Chase, the Alpha Lucien's son, they both stared at me furiously when I opened the door, "what the hell are you doing here?" Chase snapped at me, I ignored him totally and concentrated on Myla, " come with me" I said simply as I took her hand and walked towards the door but she quickly retrieved her hand from mine, "I think you should go home Dylan" she said simply and her words hurt to the core, I tried one last time, "Myla, you know how I feel about you right?" I asked, desperation lacing my voice, her eyes were furious as she stared at me, "I don't care how you feel about me, I love Chase and not you, don't you ever come here again" her words hurt so badly and Chase snickered, placing his hands on my beloved shoulders, I tried one more time to win her, "my wolf has finally manifested Myla and you're my mate" for a moment she was still as she stared at me, the only sound that was heard in the room was our breathing, my heart thudded as I waited for her to finally accept me, chase must have felt tensed too because his eyes were wide in shock as he glanced from Myla to me.
I stared at Myla as she opened her mouth and dreaded what I was going to hear next, "I Myla Cain, daughter of the red moon beta reject you, Dylan Sabastine as my mate as I am already in love with Chase Lucien, I hereby, declare myself free and reject the mate bond" her words were like arrows, piercing through my heart as I feel the mate bond started breaking from my body, it clawed at me like fangs, my mate has rejected me, the son of Alpha Sabastine got rejected by a beta's daughter, I couldn't live with the pain, it was so intense that I wished for death and ran home blindly.
"How did it go?" My mother had asked as soon as she sighted me but I wasn't ready to talk about it, I wasn't ready to face them all, so I turned and ran off. My parents ran after me, Calling out to me but I just kept on running and didn't stop, when I finally stopped to survey my surroundings, I saw that I had moved from our territory, I heard the twig of tree snapped and then saw a flash, rogues, I was being attacked by rogues but before they could harm me in any way, my parents showed up and tried to fight them off but the rogues were more than ten and although they were able to kill them all, they have been so severely injured that they couldn't have survived and so they both died the same day I was rejected by my mate, I howled in pain as it pierced through me, and then I ran away and never went back to the pack and had never looked back.
Now, I am the most influential man in the whole of Carolina and have made my status here, as the CEO of the fashion bureau, I can have whatever I want and could say I am at peace but I am being haunted by my past. I am considered as cold and fearsome but I don't care what people think of me, since I got rejected by my mate, there was no space for romance or love in my life, I have completely banished that Chapter from my life, although, I get laid with any woman when I feel the urge to do so but it has always been a no string attached. I stared at the stack of unsigned contracts in front of me and pushed it away, I would have to see the models first before signing it, this is one of my shows that will get an international light and I want no mistake, I want perfection.
Myla's POV
I watched Dylan from where I was seated at a nearby cafeteria as he got inside his car and wondered when I would summon up the courage to approach him, I was so stupid years back when I rejected him as my mate, I was blinded by my love for Chase but where did that get me, as soon as his mate was revealed when he turned eighteen, he dumped me and had married her. I was hurt and heartbroken and I deeply regretted rejecting Dylan. He had moved from the pack and she was impressed by his achievements, I wanted him back in my life, I could see tears welling up as I thought of how gullible I was, it was time to approach him, he had once loved me, I believe that love could still be somewhere hidden in his heart for me, "surely, he couldn't have just completely forgotten about me right?"
I would approach him tomorrow, I believe he would accept me back and we would get married and live happily together. The thought soothed my heart as I got up to return home, tomorrow, I would have my mate back.
