It was a lunch break in school and my friends had left and I had just put my notes in my locker and also making my way there when a strong hand grabbed mine and whirls me around into a hug.
I looked up and it was Jeffery smiling down at me. "We are having our date today right?" He has a goofy smile and was looking hands, but we were still at school for him to be this close to me, so I pushed him off and straightened my uniform.
"Yes, how would I forget about that." I glance over my shoulder and was glad that no one was in the hallway, they must be having their lunch now.
"Don't eat lunch." He told me and I knitted my brow as I glance at him, wondering what he was saying right now, I never skip lunch and I love eating. "I want us to eat a lot."
He was gibberish. "I am hungry now." I pout and he stretched something out and I looked down at his hands and saw him holding an egg. "What!" I scoffed. "Do I look like a dog?"
"You said you were hungry." He lifts the corner of his brow and a line appeared between his brow and his eyes shrunk.
"I want to eat a better meal." I turned to leave since he was being ridiculous, but he held my hands and put the egg on my palm.
"After school, you can eat to your heart content with me, it's our date and I will get you as much as you want." He has smiles on his face, but I felt like I was being forced to eat something I didn't want to.
I exhaled sharply and took the egg, then I gaze up into his eyes. "You will be the one complaining. I normally eat a lot so get ready to pay the bills." He still has a smile on his face and I guess he already has plans to turn me into a pig.
I cracked the egg and hands him the yolk since I don't like it, I put the egg white in my mouth while he ate the yolk, but inside my stomach still felt empty that I couldn't help but frown.
This was silly!
"Do you remember what date it is today?" His voice made me turn my attention back to him.
"Of course. It is October 17th." I responded in a harsh tone since I wonder what today's date got to do with the hunger I felt in my stomach.
"Do you know what today's event is?" He lifted his brow as his eyes wobble, he was staring at me intensely, like he wants me to remember something, but I can't think of anything with a hungry stomach.
"No, all I know is that today is our supposed date." A date that I have to go hungry for the whole day and fill my stomach with food for dinner, made me sigh.
"Really?" His forehead creased. "It is my bir..." he wanted to say something but swallowed it. "Well, never mind. I will pick you up after school." The smiles on his face had suddenly disappeared, I was curious, but I decided to not ask.
"Okay." I turned around and left, he was acting strange. I shook my head, I will know all about it on our date and also I will have to eat to my heart content.
Just then I remembered the words he was about to say before he pressed his lips together and my eyes dilated. "Could it be his birthday!" I opened my phone calendar and glance through it.
"Aish! How could I forget about this." I was too mad at myself and turned to go plan what I will give him as a birthday present when my path was blocked by Suzy.
"Hey, Cindy!" She called out in a loud and cold voice and I ignored her, I was so close to her, she doesn't have to shout my name like that, I wasn't her daughter, let alone one of her friends she orders around.
I had other things to plan and the time was running out, so I to a step to leave, but Suzy grabbed my hands. "Don't act like you don't see me."
I looked up at her face and pretended to just see her now. "Oh Suzy, were you talking to me?"
Her face turned ugly and she spoke through gritted teeth. "Am I now invisible?"
I pulled my hands from her grip and raised my phone for her to see. "I have things to take care of, let's argue later okay, bye!" I walked away without looking backwards, but I could hear Suzy calling out in a cold voice.
"You just missed your last chance, Cindy. I would have kept you alive but your chances just got expired!" She shouted coldly but I ignored her, she was just like an angry dog barking and I had no time to tame an angry dog at the moment.
I chose to ignore her since it was not important to talk to her, not at the moment and she saying she wanted to keep me alive was the most hilarious thing I have ever heard, as much as I knew, she has tried to kill me once before.
