After the football match was done by the boys, MR. Henry told us, girls, to get ready to run the marathon, he had told us before the camping that we should all be ready for events that will take place on Beckswood.
He handed each of us a map and we glance through it. “This is the map for the marathon race, we will all meet again at the finish line.” He pointed in a direction and we all turned to see.
The others that are not participating in the race were all sitting in an elevated place. “The winner will represent our school in the competition coming up next year.” He continued.
I glance through the group of the female student who was standing next to me and my eyes met Suzy, I looked down at her feet and saw that she was wearing the Sneakers Jeffery bought for her, I looked up at her face and she was smiling at me, as she put her legs out for me to see it.
That evil b**ch!
After he was done addressing us, the marathon race begins, honestly, I was not good at this, I was only good at short race, but glancing through the map, I knew I wouldn’t make it to the finish line in time.
We were picked out by the administrator and had no choice. I should have dropped when I saw few students stopping when they couldn’t take it anymore, but I didn’t when I saw Suzy still running.
I knew this was not me, I don’t love competition and I don’t like viewing anyone as a rival, but this time I was determined to reduce Suzy’s pride, just like Russell defeated Jeffery in the match, even though it wasn’t fair since Jeffery became dizzy, I feel like making Suzy lose her face too.
Many females had dropped out, I was left with Daisy and Suzy, Daisy happened to run past Suzy who saw me behind and slowed her pace, I wonder what her plan was this time.
We were running and I was not in for her chitchat, Daisy had given us quite a long distance gap, I ran fast to get past Suzy, but she intentionally kicks my leg from behind.
“Ouch!” I tripped and fell to the ground as I glared up at Suzy who stopped close to me.
“Oops!” She places her hands on her lips. “I am sorry.” She said sarcastically and chuckled evilly.
I got up and dust off my short. “You did that on purpose!” I said in an angry voice, but she kept laughing, and her laugh seems to echo in the woods where we are.
“I guess now Jeffery will let go of you.” She said in an evil voice and my brow furrowed, wondering what she was about to say now. “Since he had lost the bet he made with Russeli.” She touched the corner of her chin with a smile on her lips.
I scoffed, now realizing what she had done during half time, if she knew about the bet, she must have plotted something and that must be what she gave Jeffery during that time.
“You think I am not aware that you are the one behind Jeffery’s dizziness at the football match, I knew you gave him that medicine to make him lose the match,” I told her coldly, but she was calm about it which made me think acting should be her future career.
Suzy smirked and step close to me as she utter softly. “Do you know what Jeffery told me?”
As she steps close to me I stepped back, trying to keep a distance, I wonder what she was trying to say this time and I should be running a race and not talking to this witch in form of a human being.
“He asked me if I told you about his love for me.” She continues in her cold speech and I wonder why she even bothers to tell me all this, I had told her I was no longer interested in her affairs with Jeffery. “He said he wants you out of his life entirely.” She said icily.
I scoffed, something about all this doesn’t feel right, I had to put all the pieces together, if Jeffery doesn’t love me, he wouldn’t have begged me in tears at the shopping mall, and also if he loves Suzy he will not make that bet with Russeli and Suzy would not give him a dizzy drug that made him lose.
“That is a big lie.” I spat the words and her face darkened. “Even if he doesn’t love me, he won’t let me leave his side.” I knew the person who has always wanted me out of their life was Suzy and not Jeffery. “I can see through your lies,” I told her coldly.
“You are a disaster to everyone!” Suzy barked in anger and her eyes were aflame.
I jerked back because of her shout and lost my balance as I slipped down into a hole, but I held a weak wood at the top with fright in my eyes, the hole was deep and I knew I might hurt myself or die if I should fall into it.
“Suzy help me!” I shouted for help as I looked up at her, scared to the bone, I stretched forth my hands and she who was also terrified grab hold of it. “Pull me out,” I begged her as my eyes darted into the hole and up at her again.
The other wood I was holding on to support myself broke. “Help me!” I screamed as The only support I had was the hand Suzy was holding.
“Hang on Cindy!” The terrified Suzy told me as she held my hand tight.
I look down at the hole, it was dark in there and only my leg was shaking in mid-air as I looked up at Suzy again, this time with tears. “Suzy help me,” I begged her.
I looked into Suzy’s eyes, the fear that was in it had been replaced with a mocking glare, I shook my head, knowing what she might do, was I stupid, the girl who wants me gone, was she the one I want to trust now?
“No Suzy,” I begged as tears roll down my cheek and dropped, disappearing into the hole. “Don’t…” I stammered. “Don’t let go please.”
Her lips curled up in a sneer. “If you had just disappeared then I wouldn’t worry anymore.” She was releasing her grip slowly and my eyes were dilated.
“Suzy please, don’t let go of me please.” I shook my head and hope she could see the fear in my eyes. “if you want Jeffery then you can have him, just don’t let go of me please.” I looked at her with pleading eyes.
“No Cindy, just disappear, I warned you last time to leave, but you said you won’t.” She smirked. “Goodbye, Cindy.”
She left my hands and I screamed as I fell, tears in my eyes and the person I thought of was Jeffery. “JEFFERY PLEASE HELP ME!”
