Angela's POV
I tried to act sleeping all the time to think that Eric was never going to realize I'm pretending. And it worked! Nothing happened all day. But when I was circling around the room to think of the right plan to escape from here. As it was night…
But a few moments later the door unlocking sounds made me alert as I went to my bed and pretended to be asleep again.
I heard a foot walking sound coming near me and I knew very well it was Eric. He is again smelling too high heaven alcohol.
But it's a good chance for me to run…thinking that I maintain my posture. Not to make him suspicious anyway…
He sat beside my bed and a few minutes later I felt his warm lips on my forehead…
The tenderness always melts my heart but I didn't let it make me weak.
"I'm sorry, Angela..." This is what he finally said before I heard only soft breathing sounds from him.
He finally fell asleep, only realizing that I opened my eyes and turned my head to one side just to watch him sleeping beside me sitting on the floor while his head was lean one side, supported by the bed edge.
It's the right time to walk away from the bedroom, as he unlocked it by coming here.
My eyes move from him to a door that is slightly open in front of my eyes.
My heartbeat turned faster as I bit my lower lips sensing this is the chance that I am waiting for. Finally, I can escape.
The last time I checked on Eric's sleeping figure, and extremely slowly removed the duvet from above my body and let my legs easily slip to reach the other side of the bed corner without making him realize anything. I try to be as careful as I can…
Later, my feet touch the floor and I finally get off the bed. But before I could start walking, I heard Eric's voice coming from my behind.
"Angela…"
'Ohh no, is he awake?'
'What should I do now?'
I felt numb and nervous at the same time. I closed my eyes feeling skittish to think he is already awake but a few minutes passed and I didn't hear anything from him, only then did I get the courage to look behind and see that he is still sleeping while taking my name on his sleep.
I sighed with big relief and did not waste more time or go slow, I moved faster to go towards the door.
I held the doorknob to pull the gate and made my direction outside before closing the door slowly and walking out immediately, without looking back at all…
I just want to run right now and without this, there is nothing that I want…
I'll finally successfully leave this place. This thought gave me mixed feelings, inside mine.
On one side, I was relieved enough to finally go out and leave everything behind…
On the other side, my heart was filled with emptiness. There is something that feels missing…
But does that matter right now? No.
I silently crossed the corridor and went towards the stairs with big and silent steps. While my eyes were glancing everywhere, not to be caught by any maid or servant.
But I guess that they were all already asleep. As I couldn't see anyone all the way to the main door.
Seeing the main door, I feel so much better that next later, I just move faster to get towards the door.
I finally feel relaxed, as the destination is no more far from me and I got one step closer to it.
As I stood in front of the door, I breathed out in relief and touched the doorknob to pull down and open the door. But before my finger touched the cold knob completely to move it, all the lights in the living area suddenly turned on and I felt stunned and froze on my spot for a long moment before Eric's voice came from the stairs, who called my name full of anger.
"Angela!"
I turned back slowly as my body shuddered at this moment. I don't why I was feeling scared at this moment? Is it because of his roaring voice? I don't think so… Then why do I feel wrong? Because escaping from here is not my fault…
Then why did he always make me feel I was the one who made him do everything? When in reality, he is the one who hurt me and caged me here, without my permission…
As I completely turned I met Eric's dark stare who was not showing any emotion at this moment, and his long legs started taking steps down the stairs.
I suddenly realized he was coming for me and this made me too panicked and I couldn't help but turn to do my incomplete work, pulling the doorknob down to open the door, but to my surprise, it was locked. It was blood-locked to make me realize, I can't go out.
And this time, his voice came from behind which got closer to mine, "The door is locked Angela, you can't escape…just give up until you are not ready to listen to me."
I felt angry and my teeth gnashed together…My hands clenched on the knob tightly as I felt frustrated with all this…
"The door key is with me, Angela! Even if you run out of the bedroom, the outside door from everywhere is closed by me! You can't go anywhere!" Eric's words came out strongly as I turned again and finally saw him standing in front of me a few inches far.
"Just go back to your bedroom, Angel! Your action is only going to hurt you…" His words made me burst out with frustration.
"That's enough!"
"You can't cage me, Eric! Like this!"
"You are just wasting your time on me…I'll never going to listen to you…remember that!"
"You are just a liar and a substitute…"
I said everything in one goes staring at his eyes with deep hostility.
I can notice, he is also staring at me with the same anger but his eyes are a little red with moisture…
"Angela, don't force me to do more wrong things to you…just go back to your bedroom! I'm asking you in a simple tone…"
"I will not! I don't want to leave with you!" I coldly glared at him while turning to try to unlock the door with my whole might.
But suddenly next later, Eric held my wrist tightly and pulled me with big strength before walking fast towards the stairs. And All I could do was walk helplessly with him while trying to yank myself from him with my small strength.
"Eric, let me go! You can't do that!" I shouted with anger. While my one hand tried to move his tight grip from me.
"Yes, I can do that! Because you are still my legal wife and no one can take you from me, not even you Angela, until I want!"
He roared while angrily stepping towards the stairs and going to our bedroom.
