Two Wives Chapter 55

"IT WAS just an accident, it was true that I was just walking around..." I whispered. I bit my lips which I knew he saw. He did not response, he leaned his back against the chair and looked at me. I know he's still not convinced. In the end, he just shrugged. He didn't talk and didn't bother to open a new conversation between us. While me, I was slowly getting swallowed by my conscience. I know he deserved to know everything. But why am I so scared of hearing his answer after? I've been thinking it over, but why can't I still say it whenever we're together. "Finish your food, the yacht will arrive at an island in about a minute," he said coldly. He brought his used tissue on the table and stood up. I gulped when he walked out the room. Minutes had passed before I finally realized what I did. I held my head and ducked down the table. I have to tell him the truth. This is my last chance, if I don't tell him the truth before we return to San Marcelino, it would be harder. The yacht docked at the neighboring island of Galla Via Island. Unlike Galla who's silent and uncrowded, this place was filled with people and it was also more developed. There's a hotel on the island, a reason why a lot more tourists go here every day. While we're walking, I can't help but to notice the stares they're giving to Gabriel. He was slightly in front of me while talking to the hotel staff that welcomed us. I can't help but to notice his massive back and his sculpted shoulder, the way he walked was like a model of a famous clothing line. Biting my lips, I averted my eyes from him and focused on the view. "Emory..." He called my name in a deep mellow voice enough to make my heart shudder. He stopped walking to wait for me. He took his sunglasses off before lending his hand. My plump lips moved slightly, I hurriedly walked towards him, afraid that he's still mad at me. around mine. An indescribable warmth coursed through my entire body as he took my hand and led me to the hotel. I stole quick glances while we were walking. "What is it?" he asked and looked at me over his shoulder. I rapidly shook my head and fell my eyes on the floor. I gasped heavily, I wanted to convince myself that there's no other intention of bringing me here, but there's something wrong. I can't figure it out, but I sensed that something isn't quite right. I shook my head and stopped thinking about it. When the staff opened the room he reserved, my throat suddenly went dry. "Are we... sharing the same room together?" I asked quietly. He looked at me intensely, "Don't worry, we have separate beds..." His voice was intentionally low and sexy when he raised a brow at me. "Unless you want me to join you in your bed..." he added. The corner of his mouth curved into a grin before he walked towards the door. I stood still and to absorb everything he said. I can feel my cheeks burning. I tilted my head and entered the room. A surprising sight fell into my view. He's half naked, I can't help but to gulp as I scanned his body. His damn muscles protruded and his well defined waist and broad shoulders made my heart convulse. Oh, Lord... this man is freaking sexy. However, the view lasted for only a moment as he swiftly picked up his crisp black polo shirt at the bed and buttoned his shirt all the way. "Change your clothes, we're going somewhere," he ordered. I didn't respond immediately so he walked towards me. I found a moldering heat of his desire as he settled his fingers at my lower lip before closing my parted lips. "An insect may fly inside..." he said with a silly smirk on his face. He let go of me while shaking his head lightly and walked out of the room. "I'll wait outside... just make it quick!" I heard him say before I heard the door closing. That's when slapped my forehead in embarrassment. "Stupid, Meredith!" I scolded myself. I only have a dress left so I wore it instead. It was a skintight red dress that hugs me in all the right places. It was just above the knee while the thin strap that holds the dress was perfect for the weather. I stained my face with light blush on and lipstick until I was contented. I pulled my hair into a high ponytail and let my baby hairs fall beautifully. I might not look like the usual me that wears elegant jewelries, expensive clothes, and branded bags and shoes, but I loved the way I look today. It was simple. When I was contented, I got out of the room to look for Gabriel. I saw him on the balcony, talking to someone through the phone. I stopped on my tracks when I noticed that he seemed to be in a fight with the other line. "I have a conference meeting here today and I don't know if I could go home tonight." He combed his hair back and shook his head frustratedly while listening to the other line who's talking. "You're just being paranoid, Alessandra..." he said, shaking his head again. He turned his back on me and placed his hand on the railing. I saw him sighed heavily. "Alright, I'll be home tonight... Yes! I promise..." he softly said and lowered his head down. "Okay, bye..." I heard him curse after he ended the call. It was late for me to hide when he suddenly turned to my direction. I swallowed hard and awkwardly stepped back. His dark eyes lock with mine and his jaw tensed. "Uh, sorry. I didn't mean to overhear your conversation. It's..." I scratched my forehead and averted my eyes. "Meeting is about to start." I looked up at him again and managed a choppy nod. I thought he'd be mad at me but he just silently walked towards me. His fingers closed around my wrist and I trembled with the softness of his hand, leading my way to the door. I can't help but to think about it, I heard him talk to Alessandra earlier. I think Marcus already told her about what he witnessed last night, and that thought bothered me. When we reached the lobby, I snapped out of my thought as he let go of my wrist. "Gabriel!" A woman in her floral maxi dress and a sunhat approached us. I cowardly fall my lashes down and stepped aside. I felt Gabriel glanced at me before finally facing the woman. "Alexa..." "Nice to see you here, Gabriel!" she beamed. She took off her sunhat and kissed Gabriel on the cheeks. Gabriel slightly wrapped his hand around her waist that made me raise my brows. "How are you? Where's your wife Alessandra?" she asked and turned to look at me closely. "She just came home. Actually, we had a trip at Galla yesterday," Gabriel stated. "Oh, I see. So you are on a business trip?" she asked and looked at me again. "Yeah, are you with Garret?" Gabriel countered, trying his best to stay polite. "Hmm, yes! We're here for a long week vacation. Work is really stressing me out so I asked Dad if I can take a few weeks off," she said sweetly. "Well, I hope you enjoy staying here. Send my regards to Garret." She nodded and scanned me again. "My secretary, Meredith..." he introduced. She nodded once more before returning her eyes to Gabriel. "Well, I gotta go. See you around!" She kissed Gabriel again and left me another stare before walking away. I only breathed when she finally entered the elevator. "She's Alessandra's cousin," Gabriel stated. He saw the shock register on my face before I could even hide it. I immediately felt anxious. I don't want to assume but it seems that Alessandra's been keeping an eye on Gabriel.
