Two Wives Chapter 65

I can spot Gabriel from here. His features darkened, but it made him appear more chill and confident that brought something strange in my stomach. Alessandra removed her hold from me and greeted Gabriel who's wearing his black polo shirt, blue jeans and his white and black converse shoes. Paired all with his muscular arms, slack reddening lips and that sexy smile that's enough to take one's breath away. She's stood on her tiptoes and kissed Gabriel on the lips. The kiss lasted for seconds before they parted. I've gotten entirely too good of pretending it doesn't hurt, because I managed to put up a smile when Alessandra waved at me. When his eyes darted on me, I hesitantly picked up the broken pieces of my heart. I felt like I was completely shattered inside. This pain ate me alive and swallowed me until I can't find the surface to breathe in. I filled my lungs with air and brought my smile back. "Meredith, come here!" Alessandra told me. She was snaked on her husband's arms while walking inside of the restaurant. With my heart pounding, I tried not to fall of the ground. But at this point, I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole. Again, I blew out a frustrated breath before following them to a circular table near the glass window. Alessandra waved her hands at me. I nodded and continued walking. I didn't mind Gabriel's stares that kept on following me. I ordered a garlic pasta and only a glass of iced tea. I don't have any plans of staying in this table for long, after all. I tossed my food lazily while listening to them chat. Alessandra has an energetic personality. Sje never runs out of topic, especially her comments about the island. "What's our plan for our second honeymoon? Our wedding anniversary's by next week, right?"Alessandra said in a soft voice. She also made a puppy eyes and pouted her lips to Gabriel. I put down my fork and took a drink of my iced tea. I didn't glanced at Gabriel and his reaction although he's right in front of me. "I love this place, I can't wait to explore the island and spend our anniversary here!" she added delightedly. "If that's what you want..." Gabriel shrugged. His words left my heart aching. I remained emotionless and continued eating although it tasted bland to me. "Meredith, what do you think?" Alessandra lifted her lips up when she turned her gaze to me. "Oh, that's a great Idea!" I replied quickly. I smiled at her though it didn't reach my eyes. I continued my food and left the rest of the conversation casually. Gabriel chuckled humorlessly in response. "You think so?" My head quickly lifted to him. He smirked ever so lightly at me before shaking his head. "I had my say, the decision still lies to the both of you," I said plainly. I don't want to let them know that I'm affected by this conversation. I dropped my spook and fork. I was about to stand up and leave them when I heard him chuckle. "If you say so..." His tone was a bit sarcastic. "Anyways, I'll leave the decision to Gabriel. I know he'll pick the best for our wedding anniversary, right, my love?" Alessandra asked him sweetly. "My work is here and there's still a lot of business meeting I need to attend here, so I guess we'll just celebrate it here. Well, why not?" Gabriel stated. Shoot! That's it! I stood up, confidently staring at him directly on his eyes. "Thanks for the lunch, sir, but I have to go. I still have some things to do," I said in a low voice. My breathing hitched when I saw him staring darkly at me, "Alright, see you then..." he said. I don't know why, but that sentence made my heart melt a little. I kept my mouth shut. I can't help but to feel annoyed at him. Whatever he's planning on Alessandra and me, I know it won't go well. One more thing, why does he need to keep his real Identity from his mistress? I am his wife. The real one! I can't just let him double us up now that he knew who I am in his life! I nodded at him with no expression and turned to walk out of the restaurant. Hunts immediately greeted me when I got out. "I received an order from Mr. Grant. Please, follow me..." Hunts said with authority. "Not now, Hunts. I want to be alone. Tell your boss I don't want to be disturbed!" I said in a cold tone. I quickly entered the lift to return to my suite. When I entered the suite, I walked directly to my room and laid down. I buried my face onto the pillow and cried silently. Is this the best way to fight for what I thought is right? I went through a lot of things just to give up now? I know I'm loosing time. I need to bring Hezekiah back to Queensland as soon as possible. I just really wanted to prove to Dad that Hezekiah is still alive. But how can I do that when I could clearly see that he's tied to his new life now? I'm confused. I want to confess everything to Alessandra, but everytime I see her smile, my strength just vanishes into thin air. Maybe I was just being softhearted that I don't want to see someone suffering, especially Alessandra. I slept crying for Gabriel and our situation. I woke up at dusk. I loved the soft and warmth of the bed and pillows. The curtains were drawn completely, and the whole room felt shut in. I closed my eyes again, I just wanted to sleep again and wake up tomorrow. But I quickly opened my eyes when I felt a small movement behind me. I turned to that side and was shocked of what greeted me. "Gabriel?!" He watched me with his dark stonily eyes. I quickly got up but he pulled me back. "No, just stay in bed..." he said huskily. "What are you doing here?!" I averted my eyes and covered myself with comforter. "Hunts told me you're not feeling well, so I fixed everything and brought you new clothes..." He glanced at the couch beside the bed. There are paper bags and boxes of shoes that I think can last for a week. My lips twitched and turned my back. "You shouldn't have bothered. I can buy them myself," I said sarcastically. Silence lingered between us, until he let out a heavy sigh that made my heart skip a beat. "I want to sleep," I firmly said before closing my eyes. I heard him drew a deep sigh again. I bit my lip and hugged the comforter more. "I tried not to make you feel upset..." he whispered softly. I felt his big warm hand over my shoulder. He freely brought the comforter down and caressed my skin. Those soft and teasing fingers lingered over my bare skin made my heart jump faster. I moved to pretend that I don't like what he's doing. "There's no point in getting all upset about it... I'm fine here..." I uttered shakily. I bit my lips again to stop my tears from falling. He heard my soft sniffs. "Damn it!" he cursed sharply. He immediately held my shoulders to face him. He caught my cheeks. His face was obscured by shadow so I couldn't see his expression clearly. I gasped, my heart began to pound. I tried to avoud him but his warm hands stayed on me. His finger grazed against my cheeks, the heat and the intensity of his touch made me breathless. He lowered his head enough to revealed his dark eyes that bore on mine. "You're upset... please don't lie to me, Emory... You are the only truth that I can depend on. The only truth that I've been waiting for these past years..." he muttered closely, revealing more of the worry in his expression. I felt myself lacking air. I wanted to be mad at him and shout from what happened earlier. But everytime I looked into his eyes and the way his mouth curls up into a soft smile, I just suddenly forgot every reason why I'm mad at him. He cowered his head and placed his elbow beside my pillow. He rested his head on it. While our distance is getting closer, my heart keeps pounding faster. "W-what are you trying to do?" I stuttered. I went away from him until I felt my head hit the headboard. I held my breathe as I lifted my eyes and stared directly at his. "Let's have dinner together..." His deep voice floated over to my ears. He gently touched through the sleeves of my blouse. I felt something travel all over my body as his gaze flicked down on me. "You know I can't, Gab..." I muttered under my breath.
