Two Wives Chapter 66

"How about dinner meeting?" he made a humming sound at the back of his throat and nodded. "Please, Gab, we're not here to play and—" I stopped in my mid-sentence, unable to continue my word when I felt his warm hands on my brassiere. His thumbs brushed back and forth over mine. He even moved closer and observed the movements of my lips. "Say what?" he uttered slow, touching my ear with a deep voice. Damn! Those little gestures destroyed me. My mind went blank for a moment. I felt naked under his intense scrutiny. I don't know where to pick my tongue because of what he's doing beneath my blouse. "How about Alessandra?" Her name escape from my mouth like an acid. I noticed his expression changed at the mention of that name. His jaw clenched, lips forming into a straight line and looked at me with grimace. I know I can't change his mind easily and tell him to choose me just because I confessed that I'm his real wife. And I know that he still have feelings for Alessandra. It can't be removed just like that. It hurts, I know. But I need to keep on fighting. Yes, I have the papers, I'm the legal and I'm the first, but I still don't know where his heart belongs. He sighed and tilted his head a little. "I'll see you at eight..." he said with finality. My hopelessness completely flooded over me. I gasped at the pain his avoidance inflicted. I turned my back om him and hugged myself. "I'll just take a bath..." I murmured. I felt him move away and walked out. I hugged myself tighter. Tears pooled in my eyes, even if I tried to stop it, it can't be stopped anymore. I could clearly feel the pain, the pain that made my body shiver violently. Could it be possibly be that this time I really lost him? My silent cries turned to loud ones. I know that Hunts was outside, I really wanted to endure the pain, but fuck, why couldn't I?! I spent my time crying it all out. I got up at exactly eight o'clock. I walked towards the bathroom and bathed myself in the bathtub. I don't bother drying my hair with a blower. I let it flow down over my shoulder while wearing a dark blue dress. I didn't bother checking the paper bags Gabriel brought, I only got a sandal and a dress. While applying my lipstick, I heard Hunts' gentle knocks. I stared at my reflection in the mirror for the last time. I stood up and walked towards the door. Amusement appeared on Hunts face as he greeted me. "Good evening, Miss Grant!" I smiled. "Good evening, Hunts!" He assisted me out of the hotel to the restaurant near the hotel. "I'm sorry for what happened earlier. We're just shocked of Alessandra's sudden arrival. I already told Sean about it," Hunts told me while we entered the diner. "It's fine. You're just doing your job," I sincerely said. He didn't reply when he led mw to a private room. He knocked once and turned the doorknob. "Enjoy your dinner, Ma'am!" Hunts smiled at me. "Thanks, Hunts!" I smiled back at him before entering the room. The room is huge, alright. The first thing that caught my attention was the glass window that perfectly captured the beach. In there was a man sitting near the glass window. He stood up when he saw me. Dressed well with a navy blue long-sleeve polo that simply folded up to his elbow. Paired elegantly with black pants and his buttercream loafer shoes. He was looking at me intensely. I have completely forgotten how to breathe. His dark eyes fondle me as if he was looking straight to my soul causing my heart to speed up. I can't help but to notice his lips and what it tasted like. Oh, Lord! This man is freaking hot! He walked towards me and held my hand. I felt the floor sway under my feet as my knees weakened with the electrifying feeling that flowed through my body. "Thanks for accepting my invitation. I thought I was eating my dinner alone..." His voice had a strong quality enough to make my lashes fall down. I nodded, not knowing what to reply. The truth is, I really don't have plans on attending, but I contemplated when I thought about Alessandra. We arrived to our table and sat myself to rest my trembling knees. The food was served right after we werw seated. I quickly held the utensils and ate. He did the same. We didn't stretch out the conversation at the table. I only steal glances at him who's busy looking at his plate. "You were just staring at me the whole time..." His lips curled up into a devilish grin. I cleared my throat, something clogged because of his remark. "I am not..." I shot back, trying to compose myself and act normally. He chuckled, "Yes, you are..." His dark mysterious eyes told me that I was caught in a lie. Blushed sheered all over my face as I shifted on my seat uncomfortably. I can't help it, what can I do? I silently rolled my eyes. "That's fine, it's just us here. There's no reason to look for others..." he said it softer and clearer. I licked my lips frantically, I drank the lemon juice in front of me to easy my dried throat. Gabriel shook his head and continued his food while I was left with no air. The faint wind brushed against my cheeks as it blows my hair freely. After we finished eating, Gabriel brought me to the seashore. From there, I saw the wild and lively nightlife of the island. I can also sight the party not too far from here. There are also fire dancing where it's surrounded by awed people. The night is where the people get alive. It was also night where tourists go out to party at a night bar. I glanced at Gabriel beside me. He was busy watching the live band who played a slow rock music for the lively audience. The breeze blew his hair in a dishy way and the complexion of his skin glowed well with his ocean-like eyes. I can't help but to stare at him longer, like I'm magnetized into him. His face was strong and defined, he had dark brown eyes which sloped downwards in a serious expression. He changed a lot, I felt like he's not the Hezekiah I knew. He's very far from being a farmer who's wearing ripped jeans, a simple T-shirt and a muddy shoes. The guy who's not afraid to bath in the sun just to work for his family. That's the old Hezekiah. I admired him a lot to the point that I forgot to love myself first.. I realized, I held my gaze too long when he finally turn his gaze at me. "They are great .." he commented the band. I cleared my throat as I nodded in response. I lowered my head to hide my blushing cheeks beneath my hair. I felt frozen because he caught me staring at him. My heart struck in surprise as I felt his corded fingers at the back of my neck. He slowly gathered my hair at the back of my shoulder and planted some kisses there hotly. "Sometimes, I want to ask myself if I've been a good friend and husband to you before," he started as he exhaled sharply at the back of my ears. My lips moved as I reminisced the past. We came from a different world. He's a farmer while I'm a spoiled brat with a golden spoon in my mouth. Different world, different goals in life. But the world altered for us. The star who shines far at night finally kissed the land for the man she loves. I admit that I was the one who made the first move. He was my senior while I'm a sophomore in high school. I always do everything to get noticed by him that I always pass by their room just to see him. A lot of them said that I'm blind, because out of all the rich and handsome students in our school, why did I chose to love him? It's simply because he's a very responsible man, a hard working student with a highest grades and a holder of a scholarship. In short, he's smart and hardworking. It's also given that he's handsome because his father has a Spanish blood.
