Sydney’s POV:
I don’t want to die. Lilith is desperate to kill me. But now I know why she’s hesitating to do that. Whatever Jacen heard in that guest room is right. She’s not going to kill me until I accept to give all my powers to her, which Iam not going to do. I can rather die. I couldn’t hide forever. I can’t able to fight her. It’s been an hour. She’s strong as she looks at the beginning of the fight. Iam looking so tired, powerless, hopeless. I can’t spot any of my friends. I can’t even imagine them being dead. No. They won’t. They can’t die. If they aren’t dead, why can’t I spot them anywhere? Why didn’t they come to find me? What if something wrong happened? Right now, Iam halfway to the hall of mirrors. Can I reach it in time?
“Stop running, darling. You have two choices. Come and give me your powers instead of hiding. Or run as much as you can until I find you. My first option will be easier for you. You won’t feel the pain while Iam killing you. Don’t make it hard or you will end up like that human.” I heard Lilith from somewhere in a distance. I’m not ready to stop running. I nearly reached the ground floor. I tried to remember the spell Dorothy told me when I was Pamela.
I was breathless when I stopped on the ground floor. It looks like a boundless floor. According to the description, I stood in front of an empty wall and recited the spell loudly. Nothing happened for a minute. I started doubting that I told the wrong spell. But then the wall turned out to be a massive door that reaches the ceiling. The creak of the door when its opening gave me shivers down my spine. I have no idea or image of what Iam going to see in that room. I slowly stepped into the darkroom. I can only hear my footsteps. I can’t clearly see the surroundings. But somehow, I can see many mirrors in the room. There’s one large mirror at the edge of the room. Many small and medium-sized mirrors are surrounded by big mirrors. At first, I don’t know what should I do. Dorothy said all the enemies of Lilith are imprisoned here.
But all I can be my face in the mirror. I looked at myself after a long time. Sweat is dripping off my face. I looked sleepless with a black mark on my eyes. I’m no longer a girl who is locked in a house all alone. It was in my past. It seems like that was a better life. Instead, I wished for life outside the house, which leads me to hell. Can I be grateful for my family, friends and boyfriend or blame myself for bringing all the pain instead of living a peaceful life with my aunt? I still see her as my aunt even though she’s not my blood relation.
Getting out of my thoughts, I touched the mirror in slow motion. There’s no dust in it. It’s crystal clear. Abruptly, I heard someone calling my name. I quickly turned around to see whether it’s Lilith. But it’s not here. Someone is calling my name.

Just like I heard when I was in the forest which is near to my home. Months ago, I was trying to find my parents by lighting the candles in the middle of the forest. Now, I’m hearing someone calling my name like how it happened in the past.
When I looked back at the mirror, I wasn’t looking at myself. Someone else is in the mirror. Two people.
“I never thought I would see my granddaughter. You grew up to be a strong girl than your mother.” A lady said with tears in her eyes.
“Iam so happy to see you. You’re looking just like your mom,” said the man next to her. I know who it is. They both are looking like my mom’s parents. I saw them in her memories in that diary.
“How...how did you know me? I never got a chance to see you.” I said emotionally.
“We know you. It’s not difficult to identify you. We died before you came to this world. We know everything that happened in your world. The only regret is we can’t able to help you when you were living with a witch without knowing anything about your mother and father. No one should have a life like this. We thought you might never find our daughter, Victoria. But we hoped every day that you will find your parents. You did find them. But you are suffering till now. I wish I could help you now. It’s the only opportunity to get you out of hell.” she said, touching my hand from the other side of the mirror. My eyes flooded up with tears. Am I seeing my grandparents? I didn’t expect this to happen here.
“How can I forget you, grandma? Grandpa? I don’t even know your names. Why did I have a life like that? It took me sixteen years to find my family. I never felt the love of my family. I never got the time to have that. I’m an unlucky girl. You said I’m strong, but I’m not. I have never been strong. I only had hope inside me. Now, I’m losing it too. Everyone related to me is suffering. I have no idea whether my friends are alive or not. I don’t know how’s my mom and dad bearing the pain of losing me. I wish I’d never been born.” I talked miserably.
“Don’t talk like that, Sydney. Everyone’s born for a reason. You are strong. You may have felt many sufferings in your life but it will all lead you to a bright life. You can still save yourself and your friends. I can help you. Do you trust us?” Grandpa asked me. I can see the tears shimmering in his eyes. I can’t be weak and hopeless after coming through many hurdles.
“Tell me what I have to do. I will do it.” I wiped the tears away from my eyes and stared at them with determination.
“Turn to your left and take the hammer. Break this mirror.” My grandma ordered me.
