He smirked and moved back, suddenly I felt someone's gaze on us. I gulped and tried to ignore it. My grip on his hand tightened. He sensed my nervousness and moved me even closer to his body.
"Are you okay?" He whispered, I looked at him and shook my head. He took my hand in his and walked us out of the dance floor.
He was walking us through the people to the backyard. We were about to walk but suddenly Nikolai stopped walking and was released from his grip. Curiously I moved forward and came face to face with Lorenzo.
He was looking at Nikolai with a very calm expression on his face, The look on his face was deadly. If I was Nikolai, I would've run from him but Nikolai was staring at Enzo with the same intensity. There was something in between them which made others around them alert. Like any moment they may kill each other. The tension between them was felt and it's kinda scary. Both are off the same height and if they stand in front of each other, it's very intimidating to watch them. I know the nature of both, they never back down and Enzo, he would never step back if challenged.
I glanced at the woman who was standing beside him, My eyes slowly moved to their hands holding each other. Enzo's hand was tightly clasping hers, his nerves were popping out of his hand and her hand was holding his. I gulped my sorrow and hurt.
That strange pain hit my heart again, I glanced at Enzo to see him staring at me. I tried hard not to show the pain on my face. I glanced at the woman and saw the smudged lipstick off her lips, I looked back at Enzo's lips. His lips were red and the way his wet lips were, one can clearly say that he had an intense makeout session. I took a deep breath as tears rolled in my eyes, I instantly lowered my gaze trying to hide my tears from him. I gripped the hem of my dress tightly to control my tears. Nikolai took hold of my hand and dragged me with him.
While he was dragging me out, The words Penelope said to me echoed in my mind. I stopped walking and pulled my hand off from his. I looked up to see Nikolai looking at me with confusion. I turned back and walked straight towards Enzo. As I walked closer and closer to him, the look on his face was clear and clear. It made me stop in front of him and look into his eyes. I see something in his eyes that I couldn't understand, pain, regret, and loss.
I was lost in his eyes, The pain and hurt which I felt seconds ago were slowly fading away. Why is he looking like that? The question popped in my head. Before it could completely vanish. The face of that woman came into my sight and like a splash of water hit my face, I was pulled back to reality. I raised my hand and slapped him hard on his left cheek. It had his face jerk sideways.
For days I waited for him, sleepless nights and hopeless moorings. I was a living corpse and here I see him happy with someone else? Am I no one to him? Did he forget that I'm his wife? Did he forget our marriage? Did he fool like he did before?
I need answers, I need to know why he did this to me.
He placed his hand on the cheek I hit and turned to look at me with the same expression he had before. I grabbed his collar with both hands, "How dare you?" I said gritting my teeth.
"How dare you leave me?" I gripped his collar tightly while angry tears flowed through my eyes.
"You! You promised… You'll come back to take me... didn't you?" I asked while glaring at him. My voice was shaky as I controlled myself not to sob in front of him.
He nodded his head to me, "Then where were you? You didn't come?" I shouted out in anger. He didn't answer me, he just looked at me with the same expression. I slapped him again on his cheek and pushed him back as I screamed, "Answer me!" I started hitting his chest while shouting at him, "Why? Why did you disappear that morning? Why did you make me think that night was a dream? Why? Why?" The more I hit him, the more my anger increased.
"Answer me!" I screamed.
From my behind, a strong pair of arms wrapped itself around me and lifted me up and took me out of there. I was still screaming my lungs out. I put me down and spun me around.
"Venessa... calm down," He said while placing his hands on my shoulders.
"How will I calm down?" I sobbed lowering my head. As I cried my eyes out in front of him, he hugged me like he was consoling me. Resting my head against his chest, I cried out. I stood there like that in his embrace, feeling his warmth. It somehow relaxed and made me stop crying.
I took a deep breath and stepped back from wiping my tears. I looked up at him to see him staring with admiration clear in his eyes. He placed his hand on my right cheek, caressing it for a while.
"Women like you...are rare and people who don't know the value will regret their decisions later…You should never waste your tears on them princess," he said in a gentle tone. I nodded my head as my reply to what he said, he smiled at me. He bent down and pressed his lips against my forehead, and it was there for a few seconds before moving back.
In this gap, Penelope's words rushed to my brain. I need to show him that I'm happy too!
I glanced at Nikolai, "I need your help...with something" I said hesitatingly.
"With what?" He asked curiously.
"With...Lorenzo," I said with a smirk while I thought of Enzo's reaction when I did this. All different scenarios played in my mind.
