One truly does not know one's strength until one is faced with one's greatest weakness that's the case of Alvin as he sat in a submarine.
" Is everything ready?
" Yes sir' replied Colt looking around.
There were lots of ships with cannons and to think they were going into the depth of the sea baffled him.
Alvin hasn't revealed what their mission was.
" Boys let's go" he ordered as the subway openings closed then submerged into the sea.
" If I may ask what are we doing at sea? Colt demanded as Alvin looked at him skeptically then smirked.
" To show David the things I went through as a successful businessman. Being me comes with a great price" Colt nods already aware of it.
" Yes. Are we sabotaging his seaports? Or what? Alvin smirked jamming his hands together.
" Just like he did to me. Let's see if he can handle it. I doubt if Kate will help him now" Colt grinned catching his drift looking forward to it.
The submarines arrived at an entrance which opened then they drove in.
Everyone disembarked from their ship as Colt took the billion dollars building into view.
" Is this what you've been working on?
" Not really but I have plans for it"
" Hmm. It's huge and equipped"
" Yeah with sonic radiations. Let's go in. You have to meet the team behind this wonderful creation"
Colton hummed trailing after him then the pungent smell of chemical and combust gases hit him thus Alvin handed him a nose mask to aid him in breathing effectively.
" What are they doing?
" Launching our first counterattack. David won't know what hit him" he said with a darkened expression staring at them packaging the chemicals.
" That's good enough. What's our target?
" His seaports" Colt looked around the laboratory proudly.
Here he was thinking Alvin had given up.
At midnight Alvin launched his first attack on Wilson's ports for four years and sat at the podium as the sound of its explosion echoed above.
"Again* he ordered then lit a cigar taking a long drag of it as if taking pleasure in listening to the sound of the explosives.
This went on for hours till dawn.
A Sleepy and drowsy David received a call early in the morning. He picked it up in a hurry with the intention of being obscene but was stunned by the information he received.
" How? What the Fuck? He yelled into the phone slipping his pants on.
" Who did it?
' I don't know Sir. The drugs, merchandise, and perishable goods were contaminated. This is a major problem. What do we tell the mafias? David ran a hand through his hair frustrated.
" I'm on my way. I don't believe you. What happened over the night? Why so sudden? Check the CCTV footage. I want it investigated" he snapped.
" That can be arranged but that won't justify things with the mafias. They won't listen to such an explanation. They'll think you stole from them on purpose as a mafia. This isn't good" Logan tells him.
" Shut up. Let me handle everything. Do as I said" he ended the call dialing Kate's number.
" What can I do for you? Came her hoarse voice cos his call woke her from sleep.
" I need your help. Come to my house"
" Is everything alright? She didn't get a response as he ended the call.
Sluggishly, she slipped out of bed to get dressed.
There are days she can't say no to David. This was one of them.
A few hours after his seaports contamination, he received another call from Logan.
Five of his planes crashed with few casualties.
Staffs mostly. As the owner, it was his duty to pay for their treatments.
The same goes for his railways. It crashed into a multi-billion industry.
There he was in turmoil staring at the tv displaying the tragedy.
" What do we do? He looked at Kate and sighed
" I need the mafias. They mustn't know about the ports. You'll help me with that right? She sat properly then cleared her throat.
" I'm afraid that's not a solution"
" I know. Just stall them so that I can handle things before they find out about it. I'm losing money Kate" she twitched her mouth wondering how Alvin did it.
Was he really laying low because of her? Now that she was out of the way, he had chosen to retaliate.
Nevertheless, she couldn't help but yield to him. She had a part to play in it.
" Fine. I'll stall them but not forever. You better be fast about it. They're thugs with weapons" he hummed in appreciation.
" Thank you. I need to handle the press first. Gosh this is a disaster"
" It's all over the news. What can you do about it? I'm sure everyone knows about it by now. It's going worldwide like wildfire. And the owner of the factory is making sure of that. I think he needs to be handled first before anyone else. The casualties can wait too. Fix the planes so that they can generate money" she tells him.
" That's a lot of money Kate. It's worth the year's profit. What's the need of getting Alvin out of the way if it's to lose my money? He said as an idea popped up in his head
Alvin was the primary suspect but he wouldn't do that.
He wouldn't stage an attack on his properties. It was unlike him.
" Could Alvin have done it?
" What? Alvin? Isn't he poor already? I don't think so"
" But he just got enough money from the bidding. I think he did it" she shrugged nonchalantly swapping seats.
" I don't know. It's unlike him. Why don't you have it investigated? I'm sure you'll find something. You always do" he hummed plopping to the chair
" Don't worry about it. Everything will be over soon. Every businessman faces a crisis at some point in life. It'll pass" she tells him with a whole other meaning.
It was only the beginning.
" I hope so. It's a good thing I have you as my last card" she squinted her eyes staring at him then he cleared his throat.
" I mean. It's good to have you by my side" whatever he said at that junction didn't matter to Kate as she could tell he meant every word.
She was his collateral.
His leverage.
Well, she'll gladly disappoint him when the time comes.
In the end, the player will be played.
