Colton reluctantly dropped her at the hotel according to her request.
" Are you okay? He asked concerned helping her down.
" I'm fine"
" Are you sure he won't come after you?
" It can't be helped, Colt. I can handle David. No need to worry'
" You're not safe" she giggled staring at him.
She never knew he was that worried for her perhaps Alvin have talked some senses into him.
" If I didn't know better I would have thought you cared for me"
" I'm sorry about everything. It turned out you weren't a golddigger. I misjudged you " she hummed trailing to the entrance.
" What a world huh? Thanks for today Colt. I have no grudges against you even if I do it's cleared. My contempt is for Alvin. He hurt me not you" she tells him trailing off while Colt scratched his head then drove off.
The look on Alvin's face when he entered the house was menacing thus he cleared his throat.
" Sir Alvin"
" Where have you been?
" There was an emergency" he revealed with scrutinizing eyes. Knowing his habit of shooting him whenever he was offended had him on guard.
" What emergency? Asked Alvin glaring at him.
Colt cleared his throat making his mind to say the truth.
" Kate was in danger. So I went to help. I think David suspects her as it is" Alvin closed the space between them grabbing his Shirt collars.
" Why are you just telling me now? Is she alright? What did David want with her?
" I fixed it. Logan had no choice but to let her go. If David is onto her I suggest we keep her safe" Alvin pushed him off trailing out of the house while Colt sighed.
Kate wasn't that pleased with Colt from Saving her. She wanted to see how his eyes flicker when irritated. She wanted to see how he speaks when he's furious.
It's not too late. He'll come for her someday.
Apparently, her phone rang and it was him.
" Yes, David? What was that all about? Logan treated me like I was your subject. I thought we'd talked about it" David sneered
" Then come to me. We have more to discuss. I learned Colt came to your rescue" she hissed staring at the security cameras and learned Alvin was on her doorstep.
" When you decide to treat me like a normal person perhaps. I'm busy David" she said into the phone then hung up.
Her grey eyes were fixed on a worried Alvin who wouldn't stop pacing. She sighed deciding to Open the door for him while he pulled her into a hug the moment he stepped inside.
" I heard what happened. Are you okay? She scoffed but was thrilled nevertheless.
" What's the big deal with what happened? It's nothing new." She tells him which he ignored holding her tightly as if she would vanish at any given opportunity.
"I'm fine Alvin. I'm fine" she muttered relaxing in his arms.
They stayed that way for a few minutes comforting each other. Perhaps he wanted to reassure her that he still cared about her. He didn't expect her to warm up to him thus thought of a way to ask his next questions.
" When did you reconcile with Colt? She disengaged from him quite embarrassed then ushered him in.
" He sought me out. I don't hold grudges for long. He was following your order. I don't blame him"Alvin's face fell then held her hands.
" What will I do to make you forgive me? He whispered cupping her cheeks.
" Nothing Alvin but if you grant that divorce I might. We may become acquaintances if not for anything but because of my family. You saved my mother after all. For that, you deserve some clemency. Isn't that what you want? My forgiveness? He ran a hand through his hair.
" You know what I want Kate: my wife. I don't care what you have done. I don't care about our mistakes. I want to start all over again. I want to love you" she hummed softly twitching her mouth.
" Then tell me the truth. Did Simon die during the surgery? Where's my son Alvin? At that moment he finally regretted his decision to hide Quinn from her.
Knowing she'll be lost to him forever, he chose his words carefully with his thumb on her cheeks wiping her tears away.
" He... Simon did die Kate but it was after the surgery. Kate, I don't know how to say this but please can we not talk about him? I know he was our first child. Let's move on" he pleaded but she frowned disheartened.
" He has a grave right? Why don't you want to show me? I'm his mother for Christ's sake. I demand to know" she gritted her teeth pushing him back.
" Answer me Alvin. What happened to him? Will it kill you to tell me? She snapped.
" I'm most sorry to you Kate. I'm such a fool. Listen to me, please. I was blinded by my love for you. Forgive me" she narrowed her eyes at him pointing to the door.
"Get out Alvin. All you do is apologize. I told you I'll forgive you right? take me to him" she sobbed grabbing his sleeves.
But what was he doing on her doorstep? She sneered in realization.
" I want to see him. You're here for Cynthia right? Damn you, Alvin. Fuck off" she cussed pushing him back while he let her.
How will he do it? Will she believe him?
" Just withdraw the lawsuit. Are you that wealthy? You're wasting a lot of money"
" He's worth it. I'll have it closed if you don't tell me the truth. Where's he? She yelled but he turned his back on her instead and went for the door.
" Alvin, don't be such a coward. Tell me the truth. I'm his mother. I have a right to know. It's my right to know" she sobbed pointing at herself.
" I'm not asking much. I just want to spend some alone time with him. I want to tell him how much I miss him. Is that too much to ask? She begged holding his hands this time.
Alvin opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out.
She'll hate me, she'll take him away from me' his subconscious mind reminded him as all confidence disappeared from his face.
He couldn't do it. He couldn't risk losing both of them.
" I'm sorry Kate. I incinerated his body. He has no gravesite. Do..." A hot slap landed in his face before he could proceed.
" Who gave you such right? How dare you cremate my son? Are you mad? What kind of a father are you? How you could bear to see him burnt? OMG," she exclaimed already in tears.
She wasn't just sobbing but with loud heavy wails which made him regretful.
What could he have done? Thus he wrapped his hands around her in consolation.
" Kate!! She cried all day in Alvin's arms who couldn't stand it anymore.
She was grieving their living son.
Heck, he was a monster for making her cry but he didn't want to lose her.
He held her to sleep as she couldn't cry anymore.
Sometimes the first choice is the worst.
Regret, remorse, and resentment were what he felt at that moment.
He had lied to the woman he loves.
She's in grief because of him.
He lied to her. It was his fault yet he couldn't leave.
He needed her. He just wanted her to feel the same way.
