A ringing tone resounded in the room as Alvin jumped out of bed to check his chest and heaved a sigh of relief.
It was a dream.
He turned around to find Kate sleeping soundly thus he picked his phone.
"Yes, mom?
" Where are you? Quinn has refused to eat anything" Alvin furrowed his brows picking his shirt.
" What? Why?
" He's been like that all morning. I can't get through to him. He can't keep starving himself. He's just a little boy"
" Alright, mom. I'll be right there"
" Where's Naomi?
' I don't want to talk about her. I'm on my way" he hung up staring at a sleeping Kate then sat on the bed stealing a kiss that had her stirring.
" Hey, you look tired" she scoffed cuddling in his arms.
" Whose fault is that? She asked noticing he was dressed up.
" Are you leaving? He ran a hand through his hair nervously.
" Yeah. Mom called me. It's important"
" Okay," she said blatantly letting go of him.
" What is it?
" Nothing. I'm sure it's something important. You should go" he stroked her hair with an apologetic look.
" I'll be back I promise" he stated about to kiss her then the image of her stabbing him envisaged in his head.
Will she really do that to him? Kill him?
" Kate? He called as she hummed meeting his eyes.
" Nothing. Never mind. I Love you" she smiled tossing over to sleep properly.
" Can I have your number? He asked but got no response.
" Kate? She sighed irritated
" I don't think so. You shouldn't keep your mother waiting. You know she's an impatient woman" he hummed grabbing his pants.
" We'll talk better when I get back" she hummed with her back turned to him.
And so he left still thinking about his dream.
He arrived at his parents to find Bianca trying to coax Quinn to open the door thus stepped forward.
" Quinn, open the door'
" I don't want to see you either. Why am I Home Schooled? I want to mingle dad. I want to have fun like other kids. Why are you hiding me from everyone?
" Open the door Quinn and we can talk.. I'll explain everything to you. Please" the door creaked indicating it was opened.
Bianca rushed in enveloping him in a hug.
" Don't ever do that again. You scared me. Jesus Christ" Quinn huffed staring at Alvin.
" I'm listening" he quotes taking a seat while Bianca left to get food for him but whispered something to Alvin.
" He's really mad at you. So be careful" Alvin hummed softly calling him over but he stayed rooted to the chair.
" What do you want to know son!
" Why am I at home instead of the school like others?
" That's simple. You're not safe out there. Remember what I said about bad guys?
" Yes?
" They're here and I don't want to lose you. You mean the world to me. I can assure you that it isn't permanent. You'll return to your normal life when they're gone" Quinn squinted his face in the realization that he won't be able to see Kate for God knows when thus he rebelled.
" That's not fair. I can't stay here for another week. I'll lose my mind. Dad, you can assign bodyguards to guard me. Please" Alvin gave him an apologetic gaze taking a seat beside him.
" It's temporary. Your birthday is around the corner. Bear with me for some time okay?
" I won't be able to see Pamela. Can she come for a visit? Please Dad"
" Pamela? Your friend I guess. I'll think about it. Don't scare grandma like that again"
" Yes sir. Pam can come, right?
" Maybe but after you have eaten "
" Yes sir. Where's Naomi?
" She's not welcome here. She lied to you remember. So, she's not welcome" Quinn nods deciding to let it go.
" And you're staying am I correct? Alvin thought about his time with Kate the other night and found himself wanting more. He couldn't screw up his one chance of winning her back.
" You know I got work to do but I have good news. Grandpa built a game house for you" Quinn jumped on him in ecstasy running out of the house to see while Alvin trailed behind.
Quinn has always been easy to convince like Kate or maybe it's because he is a kid.
The gunshot made Cynthia cynical as she blamed Kate for it.
She'll gladly ruin his effort to reconcile with Kate but how?
Not when Quinn has been locked indoors.
Then an idea popped into her head.
It's going to be Quinn's Birthday soon.
That's her one chance.
