CHAPTER FORTY
SARAH'S POV
Mr Russell ignored me totally throughout the drive to Mr Pams Mansion. It was like I was invisible to him even when I was sitting right next to him.
I was having the urge to ask him why he was avoiding me but after giving it a second thought, I realized I had no right to utter such kind of words to him. I'm just his son's nanny and perhaps, I need to stop daydreaming about having a thing with him.
The time of living in such fantasy has to come to an end whether I want it or not. As long as he does not show any interest in me, then there's no reason for me to keep worrying over what would never happen.
We arrived in a magnificent mansion which looked so much like a castle filled with people of high status as the banquet was held outside.
One of the bodyguards opened the door for Mr Russell who in turn helped me acting like a gentleman.
"You finally made it, my boy. Wait, Sarah is this really you?" Mr Pam announced, suddenly at the entrance.
“Yes uncle." I answered with a light smile.
“You look stunning and breath-taking, my dear." He placed a kiss on my forehand before gesturing us inside the banquet.
“Let me introduce you to my best clients so far." He added, as we walked over to a group of four middle aged men chattering among themselves.
“Mr Russell, it's great to see you once again." The first man stated, with a smile, holding out a handshake to him.
“It's nice to see you too, Mr James."
“Jay, meet Edward, Sebastian and Raymond." Mr Pam introduced each one of them as they all exchanged pleasantries with Mr Russell.
“This is the lady I told you guys about."
“I must admit Mr Russell, you really have a good taste in women. She's a beauty." The man called Mr James said.
"I agree with you, James. They look perfect together and would be a good union." Mr Edward stated as Mr Russell tried to hide his anger.
“You're one lucky old man, David. We can't wait to see them have kids." Mr James added.
“Excuse me, I'd like to meet a familiar face I saw earlier." Mr Russell uttered, and walked away while I stayed with them.
"Sarah, what are you doing? Go after him, I'm sure he will need to introduce you to the person as well." Uncle suggested.
“Uh, I think I'm fine here."
“Don't be like this, my child. Come on, go after him." He insisted which I had no choice but to after Mr Russell.
I was really nervous with every step I took to meet up with Mr Russell who wasn't aware I was behind him until a strange handsome man dressed in an expensive suit stopped in my way.
“Who are you?"
“You can call me, Felix. What's your name beautiful?" He inquired, licking his tongue with the corner of lips.
“You look hot and sexy, you know, Barbie doll. Why don't we go somewhere quiet and discuss other matters, you know?" He added, staring at me with lustful eyes.
I tried to ignore him and walk away but he grabbed my hand before I knew it and began to pull me away from the party to a quiet place.
“I think you were scared of the crowd earlier so tell me, what do you think about my idea? We can do it in my car, you know?" He said with a dirty smirk slowly coming close to me
The more I took a step backwards, the more he kept moving closer until my back landed on a firm body as I turned around to see it was Mr Russell with two of his bodyguards.
I thought this heartless man was going to take advantage of me but seeing Mr Russell come after my rescue made me embrace him to myself and break down in tears.
“How dare you lay your filthy hands on my woman to the point of even saying those words to her?" He flared at the man.
“My sincere apologies boss. If I had known she was yours, I wouldn't have laid my eyes on her. Please, forgive me, boss." The man begged.
“Say that to the devil. Boys, take him out of here." He ordered the bodyguards as the man kept begging until they faded out of view.
I couldn't take my head up and kept muffling tears until he slowly pulled me away from his chest before using a handkerchief to wipe my tears.
He didn't do anything to you, right? He asked while I nodded in response.
“Why did you leave your godfather's sight when you should have stayed there?"
"He … he was the one who asked me to go along with you but suddenly this man showed up and.." I was saying when I burst out in tears again.
“It's okay, you're safe now." He assured me, wiping the tears in my eyes before picking me off the floor in a bridal style.
I never imagined such a thing happening to me. I thought my life was going to be over. I still don't understand how a person who has been ignoring me can act as if he hasn't been ignoring me for a week.
We got inside the mansion where he dropped me on a sofa in the living room.
“Let me get you water to drink." He said and tried to leave but I held his hand not wanting him to go.
At that moment, all I needed was for him to stay right beside me. What if someone shows up just like that man did earlier?
“Please, don't go. I'm scared." I pleaded, almost in a whisper as he walked back and sat right next to me.
“What are you doing to me, Sarah?"
“I'm sorry sir. I know I'm not in the right position to act this way around you but I'm so scared. I've never encountered such a situation before."
“Why are you always this way each time I'm close to you?“
"I… I don't understand what you mean, sir." I replied, confused with what he's talking about and kept staring at the floor when he lifted up my head with his hand.
We kept staring at each other for so long that I didn't know when he curled his hands around my waist.
I was trying to process if it's a dream or not when I felt his wet lips on my lips as he pulled me closer to his body.
I didn't give him the access to devour my mouth completely until he deepened the kiss which made me lose all my senses as I gave him complete control over my mouth.
