CHAPTER FORTY ONE
JAYDEN’S POV
I quickly pulled away totally lost and confused why I had to kiss her. I got so carried away by her beauty that I lost my senses.
"I didn't really mean to do that. I was carried away by my emotions thinking you were my late wife." I lied and walked out of the living room.
I can't tell what's really happening to me right now? Have I been bewitched or something? That wasn't me back there and I know it. I must have been drugged by someone to fall in love with her.
Damn it! I don't know what's really going on with me. Should I seek a medical practitioner's help in finding out what the problem is and how to overcome these weird feelings?
I was standing outside when Henry rushed up to me looking intense like there's a problem.
"What's the matter?"
"Boss, an unknown intruder got access into five of your warehouses and burned them down."
"What the f**k?" I cursed.
"The Fire has been taken care of but there's a great loss. None of the stuff was left. They're all burnt into ashes."
"How the h*ll did it happen? Who is after everything I've worked hard to build?"
"For now, we don't know who must have done it but I'll make sure I find the person behind it soon."
"I don't think I'll have that time to wait."
"I'm sorry boss. I'll try everything I can to find out who is behind it."
"I hope so. Inform Sarah that we're leaving. I'll join you guys soon." I ordered and strolled back to the party to inform godfather.
After explaining everything to godfather, I headed back to join Sarah and Henry who were waiting for me.
I got in without saying a word to Sarah about what happened earlier. I don't even want to talk about it at the moment. I've got to find out who is bent on destroying everything I have worked hard for and the people I love.
I swear once I find that person I won't spare him no matter what. He has committed a grave mistake by trying to overpower an underworld mafia don. His death can't be anymore worse than the anguishing fire of hell.
"Boss, I just got notified that some of the supplies in the warehouse are not completely damaged." Henry uttered, from the passenger's seat.
"Let's head there first before returning to the mansion. I want to see how bad it got." I instructed.
I wonder how bad the new supplies are. I'm sure someone among the suppliers had a hand in the attack because they're the only ones who knew where all the stuff was shifted.
I won't spare the motherf***er in any way. I'll teach him a lesson never to mess with me.
SARAH'S POV
I couldn't stop thinking about the kiss Mr Russell and I shared earlier. It was really crazy and heartwarming. I've never felt anything like that in my life before and it feels satisfying when it happens with him.
I thought his feelings felt real towards me when he kissed me deadly but when he said it was a mistake, I couldn't help but feel hurt by his words.
I guess I'll never be enough for him no matter what. He will always look at me as his son's nanny and nothing more.
I just have to scold myself from thinking about things working out between us. I know and believe sooner or later, I'll forget about him and move on with my life.
I can't force him to love me just because I love him. Things can't ever work out if the love is one sided except if the other person realizes his feelings towards you. That's only when things can work out. I'll just try and get him out of my mind and heart.
We arrived in a warehouse which looked like it caught a fire not quite long because the firefighters were still turning off the fire.
"Wait in the car." He ordered, and stepped out of the car with Henry.
I was really scared seeing the fire wasn't completely turned off as Mr Russell and Henry approached the firefighters.
After a few minutes, Henry walked back to the car after the firefighters left, leaving Mr Russell behind.
"Mr Russell had instructed me to take you home. Let's go."
"But, what about him?"
"He said he will arrive late and you shouldn't make any excuses."
"Okay. But are you sure, he's going to be alright?"
"Yes Miss Sarah. He can take care of himself more than you could ever imagine." He smiled and asked the driver to head to the mansion.
We got to the mansion and found aunt Kathy waiting outside the mansion looking intense.
"Sarah, are you alright?" She asked, rushing towards me.
"Yes aunt. I'm fine."
"Jay told me what happened. I'm really sorry about that. Come, let's go inside."

"How do you feel now?"
"I feel much better, aunt."
"Sarah, there's something I want to tell you."
"Okay, aunt. What is it?"
"I should have told you about it when telling you about Jay." She said with a long pause before she continued, "I didn't tell you about Jay's father-in-law, Ryan Malcom."
"I've met him, aunt."
"You have?"
"Yes aunt. He happened to also be a guest at the gala in Paris. He was the reason why Mr Russell lost himself at the party due to what he did."
"I don't get you, Sarah. What really happened?"
"He embarrassed Mr Russell in front of the guests saying he was forbidden to see his grandson because Mr Russell hates him."
"Oh... my poor, Jay. He took it all in. What Ryan said is right but Jay did it for a good reason."
"What's the reason aunt?"
"Ugh... Ryan is a real monster. He's Amanda's step father who showed the poor girl nothing but pain and suffering. The evil man raped the innocent lady when her mother passed away."
"Oh, my god! That's so inhuman. How could he do such an evil deed?"
"But Amanda, having a good heart, let him go and made Jay promise not to lay a finger on him. And ever since then, Jay hates him so much and forbids him from coming anywhere close to Amanda or Max."
"That's so sad to hear."
"I don't know why but I've a feeling he might be involved in Amanda's death but I'm not so sure."
"Why did you say that, aunt?"
"Well, according to Amanda, she heard Ryan on a phone call to kill someone which she believed he might be after Jay's life. She tried comforting him but he never listened and told her to stay out of his way or she will replace him."
"Goodness! Is Mr Russell aware of it?"
"No, Sarah. Amanda said she wasn't so sure and made me promise to keep it away from Jay."
"Don't you think Mr Russell deserves to know about it now?"
"He doesn't need to know, my dear. I think Ryan said it in annoyance I guess so, telling Jay about it now might make him do something to harm Ryan which Amanda had pleaded with Jay not to hurt him."
"That's right. I hope the real culprit gets caught."
"I want that too. He has caused so much for this family and Jay to be precise."
"I believe things will get back to the way it used to be."
"I hope so, darling. Speaking about Jay, he's indeed in love with you."
"I don't know aunt. He sounds strange each time he does something beautiful. He said he mistook the kiss..." I quickly shut my mouth with my hands after exposing myself.
"Did he really kiss you?"
"Uhm... that's not really what I want to say, aunt. You see..." I was trying to look for an excuse when she burst out laughing.
"Your cheeks are all red, my dear. I want to hear how it all happened."
I really need to be controlling myself so I won't get in trouble.
