Dylan's POV
My eyes scanned the hospital but I saw no sign of Ariana, I frowned when my gaze fell on the driver, he was seated on a long chair, his eyes were closed but his mouth hung open as he was busy snoring loudly, in two strides, I was at his front, I tapped him but he merely made himself more comfortable and kept on snoring, I tapped him again and he opened his eyes, his eyes were red from sleeping as he gazes at his side, his red eyes widened when they fell on me and he quickly jumped to his feet, "s...s...sir?"
"Where's Ms. Ariana?" He swallowed as his gaze went to a hospital room, he pointed towards the room where Ariana had gone, and without another word to him, I left him standing there, I can understand what she must be going through right now, my mind flashed back to the pain of losing not just a parent but both parents on the same day, it was such pain that made me leave my park and came to the human world, where I was known by no one and began anew, I shook off the memory as I opened the door to the room where the driver had pointed but it was empty, "the corpse has been moved to the morgue" a nurse said when she saw me gazing into the room, trying to catch my eyes, she smiled nervously as she shook her full breast, I gave her a hard glare and she must have gotten my message because she quickly scurried away, her cheeks flushed with guilt, did Ariana follow the body to the morgue? I walked towards there and saw Samantha sitting by the door, just outside the morgue, sobbing uncontrollably, at first I was surprised to see her, I had completely forgotten that it was also her dad that had died, I stood for a moment and watched her as sobs racked her body, I thought of what to do, I had to go and look for Ariana, she wasn't here either but I also cannot leave Samantha in this state, I gently took her by the shoulders and led her to a chair as she wailed, I made her sit and offered her my handkerchief, then I brought out my phone and went out to make a call.
Samantha POV
In my misery, I almost smiled as I beheld Dylan's handkerchief, I couldn't believe he had offered me his handkerchief, this was too good to be true, I watched as he brought out his phone and walked out, I held the handkerchief to my heart like a treasure, a thought suddenly formed in my head, I'll take advantage of this situation and get close to him, thank God that wench
Of a sister is not around, who cares where she had gone, as long as I have Dylan by my side, I'll steal him away from her, that will be a little compensation for all the pains she had caused me. I sighted him returning and immediately, I started wailing anew, I held onto him as soon as he got near, "I can't live without my father, I have no parents anymore" I cried, carefully laying my head on his chest, he stood for a moment without making any move, and I wondered what was going on in his mind, I felt him pat my back tentatively and I smiled secretly, he led me to a seat, a voice cleared from his back and he stood up, "Damien, thank you for coming" I frowned as my heart boiled in anger, I tried to keep in check with much difficulty, what! Was that the call he went to make, I couldn't help but felt a pang of disappointment, "I called him to take care of you" I mustered a smile, even though I didn't feel like it, "thank you" I muttered, without another word he turned on his heels and left.
Damien's POV
I knew this was coming, Dylan had barely left when she rounded on me, "how dare you show your face here" she hissed and I held myself from biting out a reply, she must be grieving, her father just passed away, " I don't need you, just leave" she gritted and I rolled my eyes, "Dylan has left you in my care, so I will take care of you"
"You're not obligated, I can take care of myself"
"No doubt you can take care of yourself but you're wrong about me not being obligated because I am very much obligated" she stomp her feet and I smirked, does she think I'm much happy to babysit her? Especially someone like her but I had no choice, I had gone to see Dylan earlier, one of us, a werewolf living in the human world was critically ill and I am a werewolf doctor, he needed me but I can't leave my pack to treat a wolf living in the human world, alpha Chase, who is currently the leader of our pack forbids it but this werewolf was an old friend of mine, I couldn't just ignore him, so I needed an excuse to stay in the human world, something that will not give alpha Chase any inkling that I'm treating a werewolf in the human world, and this was it, babysitting a human whose father just died, and I would have enough time to do my thing, not that I am scared if the alpha, hence, I'm sneaking out but the alpha can be so cruel, he might end up killing my patient but pretending to be with this woman and using the excuse of coming to see her will give me an edge over him, thus, the reason, I'm here listening to her rant, "get lost" I was irked by her words and to make matters worse, she had the guts to shove me, I caught her hands midair when she attempted to give me a second push, " do you think I'm freaking happy to be here with someone like you?" Her eyes narrowed with fierce anger, " someone like me? What do you mean someone like me? Most men will give their tooth to spend a moment with a pretty girl like me, I guess that's why you've also been following me around " my laugh was sarcastic, "I follow beauty with brains, not the other way round"
"Are you insulting me?"
"I'm here to take care of you, get used to it because you'll be seeing me around"
"Arrrhhh" I covered my ears at her scream as she stomp off, "please accept my condolences about your father" I shouted to her retreating back, damn, it's gonna be a very long day, I huffed in frustration, everything was already a mess, I have to look for a way to get along with her, at least, for the period that I'm here, alpha Chase might just have eyes and ears here, I have to make him believe that I'm only coming here to see my girlfriend, after all, werewolves are not ban from having a human girlfriend.
Dylan's POV
I had lived in the human world for years but I always made sure not to get too involved with their lives but here I am, offering comfort and solace to Samantha, well, I didn't do it for her but for Ariana, I had seen love for her family in her eyes and I would do anything to cherish whatsoever she loves. Samantha was her only remaining relative, thank God Damien is there with her while I go and look for Ariana, "where the hell is she anyway" has she done something to herself? I shook my head, if she was in any kind of danger, I would know through our mate bonding but still, she would be somewhere hurting alone, I need to find her and be right by her side.
