Chapter 40 Justine
After the photo shoot I was left for a sit-in interview. It was just all about some fashion stuff because of a brand we model today. Nadine goes ahead because she has her own schedule.
"Aunt Matilda, I'll just go home alone. I'll use my car. "
"Oh yes, I saw it parked earlier in the chin. I didn't even bring a van and driver because I knew you would say that."
She discussed about some legal stuff about the recent project and all. While I was packing my things to get ready to go home.
"Uhm, aunt?" She stopped. She waited for me to say something. I just can't seem to let go of my conversation with Nadine this morning. My mind seemed to race fast, not knowing whether to say it or not.
"What's the news about the investigation? About the scandal? Is there a trace?" Darn it.
Her face lit up when I said that, it seemed that what I said was relieved.
"I thought what was your problem. Don't worry, there is a raw lead around Visayas but the investigation is still being deepened because you know? Maybe like you heard last time? I don't know about them, don't fix the work." She rubbed her senses.
"Don't stress yourself too much about it. That issue is already dead because of your pretend relationship with Engineer Vidalio. How's your deal with him by the way? Have you seen his fiance yet?"
"He doesn't have a fiance, Tita."
"What do you mean?"
More confused like what I've felt when I heard that.
"Long story Tita."
"So how? Why did he agree? W-what happened?"
"I'll talk about this Tita, in the perfect timing."
I took the rest of my stuff because it was leaving.
"H-huh? Okay, but I just want to know ... Will your deal end right away?"
I turned around and faced him again. Her eyes are worried and kind of bothered as if she is in charge of what I said.
"I need to know Cyreese, what if Mrs. Evangelista asks me?" I sighed.
"I don't know yet Tita. I'll talk to him once he's free."
Her lips parted as if she wanted to say something more, she didn't meet my eyes. He just nodded at me. I just smiled at him and said goodbye. Around three o'clock in the afternoon, I arrived in the meeting place of me and Justine.
He arrived just today, there was a delay in his return because he was supposed to be taking care of something in NYC. He asked me to pick him up somewhere in Manila because he doesn't have a car. He'll be staying in a hotel since he wouldn't be able to go to his hometown and he won't be here in Manila for long.
Though I can suggest that he just grab it and all but he's a friend of mine. And I'm not too busy so I gave him time. When I saw him mingling at one of the tables of a well-known coffee shop I went to it, he immediately stood up carrying a bouquet of flowers. I kissed him and was shocked to accept what he offered. I was dumbfounded, even in the Philippines are these flowers still not spared?
"Justine, you don't have too."
I hissed sitting on the chair in front of him. There are also drinks that he seems to have ordered earlier. He smirked.
"I have to. Knowing that you're pretending with this old business man. I can't lose."
My forehead furrowed at the words he used to Levi. He didn't know a thing, he only found out about it in the news and in the company.
Speaking of Levi, I looked at my cellphone to see if he already had a reply to me. I told him that I'm picking up a friend today, he told me this morning that he has a meeting so I guess he's too busy to leave a reply. It's okay.
"He's not old." He chuckled and sipped to his drink.
"Well, so I didn't ask you. When I heard about that I know that's another stunt of our company. That's impossible, for me you can't be affected by my charms in others so?" He laughed so I just stared. I'm not attracted to anyone of anybody because my heart and soul is already owned by someone else. Long-long time ago.
"Where will you check in?"
"Hmmm. Can I just go to your unit?" Its teasing. I blinked and cried.
"Kidding, though I might consider buying one next to your door."
My lips parted at his next tease. He raised his lower eyebrow because I had nothing to say. While still catching up and him deciding to where hotel should he check in, we spent a few minutes there.
Eventually I noticed how caring people were. Justine and I are way too focused on each other's company so I thought we missed something here in what was happening. I slowly looked around and everything seemed to be normal, I looked at the counter and I was immediately stunned to see who the people's eyes were.
On his half turtle neck and a casual attire. Looking like a drop dead gorgeous man leaning his arms on the counter while ordering something. I almost hurt the woman taking her order because of the sharp looks I had.
Her whole face was flushed as Levi was in front of her. I glanced at Justine who was on the phone and talking to someone, something about hotels and stuff. I turned my gaze back to Levi, he was walking closer to a round table.
The moment he sat there, I met his cold and menacing eyes. Like I've committed a crime or something, I was suddenly scared and nervous at his looks.
What is he even doing here? He has time to come here but he doesn't have time to reply to my text? Is he meeting someone here? He licked his lips and clasped his hands in front of his face, his elbows bent at the round table where he was. I blinked because of his looks. I looked at my phone and type messages.
Me: What are you doing here? I thought you were busy?
Without breaking our eye contact he took his cellphone out of his pocket. He licked his lower lip and bit it afterwards. My breath hitched. He briefly typed on the screen and looked at me again. My phone beeped.
Levi: I am.
I bit my lip at his message.
"Hey, I've seen something. The others are fully booked, I'm having a hard time finding it." Justine.
"Uh, o-okay ... come on?"
I said keeping my eyes on Levi.
"Just a minute, I want to be with you more. When you take me to the hotel, you'll leave immediately."
"There's another day for that Justine." I balk at him.
It is forced not to stare at the man who can grab everyone's attention.
"Okay, that's reassuring."
I just smiled at him and looked again in Levi's direction.
"Can I visit your unit some time?"
There was a woman standing in front of his table, it seemed to have passed by and talked to him, he turned it over and I saw the twitch of his lips. Does he know?
"Yeah, o-of course, of course! Some other time, when I'm not busy anymore."
"Great. I only have 2 weeks to-"
I didn't understand what Justine said when I saw Levi's smiles while talking to the woman who was sitting in front of him now. It was as if my eyes were on fire stared at him happily at the person he was talking to. What the?
