Chapter 39 Before the chaos happened
Levi's POV
"Now what? Just when she's back with me again, we'll now have to go through another shit?"
My mother's face was confused because of my explosion. One deep breath and I covered my face with my palm. I don't even know that I can be this mad, not with my mother. Ava is in danger and it's because of that Nadine. She has no idea about that at all. My Ava is so naive to realize that because she can only see the good in everyone. A fvckin evil fell in love with an angel the reason why this is so fvcked up.
"S-son, I didn't know it would take this far."
Her voice croaked. I snapped and glared at her.
"I'm not yet over with you talking to her and looking down into her and now this. I don't know if I can forgive you if something bad will happen to her."
Her eyes turned shocked.
"Are you hearing yourself, Levi? How can you talk to me like that?"
I turned my back on him because I still wanted to leave respect for my mother.
"You are becoming a person I don't know anymore. Maybe you forgot-"
"I am done with this shit, Ma! I love her, and no one could even defile my feelings for her."
I explode. I saw her tears and it's my sorrow. I don't want to hurt her but this is enough.
"I've forgiven everyone since then, Ma. And so please will you?" I said exasperatedly.
She wept more and more.
"Maybe I'm really am turning into someone you don't know. Because I was made for her. Only for her, alone."
I would have turned my back if he had said more.
"That is evil! You will imitate his father who is willing to kill anyone just for your father's hook!" I chuckled without any humor. No big deal.
"If that's what it takes to make her mine, I'll gladly do it. I'm very much willing to rot in hell just to have her in this lifetime."
There I left him frustrated. Left disappointed with her son whom she used to be so proud of.
Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. That's what he always preached whenever his friend and my brother and I had a fight. I failed. Maybe I was wrong to love.
Never has there been enough too much and never enough too little. I lost her again, for the second time around, because of how reckless I am. Funny how I can forgive others when I don't even know the reality of being a sinner of my own punishment. Who would have known that if she'll be back to me again.
This time no expectations, no more wrong doings and no pushing limits.
Ava's POV
Before the incident happened
He first took me home to my condo to get things and clothes for me. Like what he said, I saw my car parked in the usual spot. My phone was unusually calm, I expected to be bombarded with calls and texts but for some reason, everything was calm and it just looked like I was floating in the air.
We only spent a short time in the condo and at the same time we went to VREC again. It was just about a quarter of lunch time when we arrived. Very different from the scenario I often do every time I come in here.
Levi ... holding my hand entering his building. People did not cheer when they saw us together. I want to be eaten by the ground in their looks and whispers but Levi seems like everything is just normal to him.
He's usual intimidating aura is flaunting. His secretary greeted us on the floor with a smile. This man is around thirties and immediately goes through Levi's schedules even though he hasn't been able to enter his office yet. For some reason, I feel relieved to see that his secretary is a man. I removed his hand from mine to let him be there because I was going to the office but he turned to me. His secretary stopped speaking.
"I'm going to the office."
He shifted his gaze to my office, this was the first time he would see me here.
"Stall some blinds to her office. Too open."
I shook his hand and howled. Wouldn't he really stop his quirks like this?
"Levi-" I stopped and looked at the people around us especially his secretary.
"S-Sir Levi, I'm alright. I shouldn't be here anymore. I'm not demanding anything."
He sniffed. obviously hiding the smile on his lips. I shook our hands again for him to leave but he just said goodbye to his secretary and guided me to my office. "I have a meeting with some of the investors. Call me if you need anything."
"I don't need anything. I work here, so let Engineer Vidalio work."
I taunted him emphasizing the last word and went to the table to sit there. He smiled at what I said.
"Alright, Architect Suarez."
He returned to my teasing. How I wish I really am.
"I'm not yet an Architect."
"Soon to be ... Architect Vidalio then?"
My lips parted. My heart fluttered on what he just said. He was still like this this morning. I'm not good in handling this kind of situation. If he's joking, that's not a good one. I just folded my arms and pretended not to hear.
"By the way, about the ... thing we talked about last night?"
When I change the subject. He casually nodded and reach the gap between us. He leaned on the table as he faced me. I was slightly taken aback from the swivel chair as he stood in front of me.
"I'll call those men I hired regarding that. Give me time, hmm?"
He hired some for that? It was as if it had just entered my mind that what had happened before was not random. And if his mother really did that, he should have been imprisoned for a long time. But who knows? I'll see when I got the details.
The rest of the few days are normal, apart from maybe Olivia who is sulking because I left her in the Lounge. She said that I owe her one so she's asking for my company to one of her shopping spree again. Can't wait for Lucy to arrive here, they are really always together. But the rest? Everything was just a skip of the beat of heart.
You know when things are too good to be true. The feeling that you will be comforted for a while and then destiny will give you back. Levi and I were good, my brother is still out of reach.
Not even trying to lend an ear. Every time I'm with Levi I feel like I'm floating in joy, every time I'm alone I feel like I'm burdening the world. Which also made me think about this set-up. I remember one time I lied to my mother because I was wandering on the beach, because I loved to pick up shells there.
I skipped my one class just to go there, I also don't want to go in because I am often bullied. He made me very angry. He asked me if I was nervous about what I did because it was wrong. I didn't even think he would be angry with me. Of course I wasn't nervous because I had so much fun on the beach.
I'm distracted by my own leisure because I'm having so much fun. Now I understand what mom is saying. Am I doing it wrong so I get upset like this?
"You didn't mention to me before that you have a boyfriend Cy."
Nadine said as we both arranged. Just finished coloring my hair again, great thing is I'm back with my long black hair.
"Uhm, you didn't ask Nadine." I smiled.
Trying to just skip that part of our conversation.
"Well, if there is one I should have known right? We've been through a lot of projects and expecting the world of this industry- the news is fast. And besides ... I thought Justine was your boyfriend?"
Did I stick to his intrigue? I just smiled at her in the mirror because I didn't know what to answer. If I tell her the truth he will know the set-up of Levi and me. And no one wants to go there.
"How's your brother?"
I turned to her. My eyes are shocked while she's looking so unbothered. She lowered the chocolate she was holding and turned to me once. There seemed to be nothing strange about what he said when she turned to me.
She noticed the horror in my face and she chuckled by seeing it.
"Oh, I'm sorry. It's not that hard to know Cy. Knowing the issues of you being in a relationship with Lourd. Turn out to be your brother huh?" She laughed.
I closed my mouth as I looked at those who were arranging us who seemed to have no interest in what we were talking about.
"I was curious, so I asked your Manager. Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret."
Shrugging her shoulders. It was as if I felt something nervous when she touched me with her palm on top of my hand. Assuring me that she will really keep it a secret.
"Aunt Matilda told you?"
"Yeah." Yeah? Tita Matilda? How would she? I looked at her in the mirror and she just smiled at me sweetly. I can't drop the idea behind my mind of Tita Matilda telling our secret that easy.
Well, it's not a crime for us to hide it but Tita Matilda knows how sensitive that part of our lives is. I can't believe that out of all people, Tita Matilda will know that.
