"I will stay and take care of Kyle, Mum," Sonia said.
"Oh, for goodness sakes, Sonia, go with her," I said turning to face Sonia, "please stop acting like a caring wife and leave," I added, hating the sight of her this minute.
"Kyle," Mum called, stopping by the door and giving me a scolding look.
"Mum, why does Kyle hate me so much?" Sonia asked and started sobbing.
"Oh stop it, Sonia," I said, knowing that she is acting up again, like a drama w*tch that she is.
"Did you see that, Kyle? Now you are making Sonia cry in front of Sam, that is so embarrassing Kyle, she has been by your side all this time and now that you are awake, you are insulting her instead of appreciating her for waiting on you," Mum said to me angrily.
"I did not ask her to wait on me, Mum," I said looking up again, not minding that Doctor Sam is here, I know that this will come as a shock to him, he has always thought of us as a happy couple in love.
"Come, Sonia, let's go home, don't mind my son Kyle," Mum told to Sonia.
She stared at me for a while in contempt before leaving with Mum.
"What was that about, Kyle?" Doctor Sam asked me after they have left the ward.
"I am sorry about that Dr Sam, you weren't supposed to witness that," I told him, seeing how displeased he was looking after Sonia and mum left.
"I do not know what that was about, but that is no way to talk to your fiancée, you see," Doctor Sam said to me, "you should treat women with respect, you know," He added.
"Not Sonia Doctor Sam, that woman is a pain in the a*s," I told him.
"That is a big word," Doctor Sam told me, "she is a woman you are going to spend the rest of your life with," Doctor Sam said again sitting on the chair close to my bed.
"I do not want to spend the rest of my life with her, Doctor Sam, I do not love her, I have told her that countless times, even my parents too, I do not love Sonia and I do not want to spend my life with her but she is still pushing it, and my parents too are still insisting on us getting married to each other,"
"Why? I mean, when did you stop loving her, I thought you two were good friends, who are in love with each other, I have seen the way you too talk to each other in times past." Doctor Sam told me, looking a little confused, I think.
"Well, you are right Dr Sam, that was before, I never loved Sonia, ai only liked her as a friend, she was just a friend to me, not until my parents nursed the idea to pair us together did I start hating her, I did not also start hating her immediately though, I was expecting her to understand me as my friend that she is but she didn't, even after I told her that I do not want to marry her," I told him.
"Don't you think she is in love with you?" Doctor Sam asked.
"She is not in love with me, Doctor Sam,"
"How do you know that?" Doctor Sam asked.
"I know her, Doc, and forget about what you have just witnessed, Sonia can be very deceitful, and it pains me that she is deceiving my family, especially my mum," I told him.
"Deceit you say?" Doctor Sam asked, "How do you mean?" He asked again, I guess he does not believe me.
"She has been my friend since childhood, she is only seeing me as a tool to enrich herself and to gain power through my family name, look, I do not see the reason why I will tell her that I do not love her and she is still insisting to marry me,"
"She may be in love with you, Kyle," Doctor Sam said, "why don't you try giving her a chance? Or do you find another woman attractive? Are you in love with someone else, Kyle? That can be the only reason why you would turn Sonia down," Doctor Sam told me.
I stared at him for a while not knowing what to respond to him, he will not understand what I am saying about Sonia, I mean, no one will, unless of course, if I present them with evidence, he is right about one thing though, I am in love with another woman but now, I cannot have that woman and I cannot even talk about that woman to anyone because she hates me and on top of that, she is married and has children already.
"It is not what you think, Doctor Sam," I told him instead, not willing to push it any further, I am hurting as it is because of the thought of Kimberly having a husband whom I think loves her and two lovely kids of her own, I mean, it could have been me, instead of being stuck with that selfish Sonia.
"Anyway, that is, by the way, tell me what my mum was talking about earlier," I said to him changing the topic.
"What exactly, Kyle? She said quite a few things," Doctor Sam asked, I think he is trying to avoid my question.
"You know what I'm talking about, Doctor Sam," I said looking him in the face, "She said something about you carrying out an instruction," I said again refreshing his memory in case he has forgotten but I know he hasn't, "would you mind telling me what that is?"
"It is nothing to be concerned about, Kyle, you just need to take proper rest and take your medicines so that you can regain your strength again, you heard what your mum told me, that I should make sure you get better as quickly as possible again, please help me do that because I do not want to be in her bad book, you know," Doctor Sam said jokingly it to me.
"This is no time to joke around," I told him knowing that there is something he's trying to hide from me.
"How is Kimberly's son?" I asked instead, seeing that he does not want to tell me about what it is my Mum asked him about earlier...
