"What are we still doing here?" Brian asked after constantly glancing at his wristwatch for some time.
"I told you to go home, Brian, I am not leaving this hospital without seeing Doctor Sam, I have something important to discuss with him," I told him.
"Can it not wait, Kyle?" Brian asked in a rather calm but cold manner.
"No, Brian, it can't wait," I told him, turning to glare at him, "I do not even want to go home tonight, why does Dad want me discharged all of a sudden? Is it because he wants me home or because of some silly work at the office?" I asked staring at Brian, he stared at me too for some time without responding.
I guess that should be the case, his silence speaks louder than words, I think that is why Dad wants me home, he wants me home not because he wants me to get back home but because of work, I think it is still because of that Project, the one I worked on all Saturday night, didn't Brian take care of it? At least he told me so.
"Tell me, Brian, why did Dad want me back home all of a sudden, is it because of work? Look, I would have loved it, If I stayed back here, at least for one more night," I asked and told him.
"I do not know, Kyle, if Dad wants you home because of work, what I do know is, that he has been worried since he learnt that you donated your blood to that boy, he saw you when you fainted and he hasn't been alright since then he wanted to come with you to the hospital but I insisted that the driver take him home because of his health condition, I do not want him collapsing," Brian told me.
"Hmm..." I said, "this is the first time I heard that you told Dad to go home against his will, why did you not allow him to come to the hospital with me?" I asked him sarcastically, again wondering how he was able to send Dad home when he wanted to come with me to the hospital.
"What was that?" Brian asked looking at me.
"What?" I asked him in return shrugging my shoulders a little.
"What was the hmm for?" Brian asked again glaring at me this time.
"It is nothing, Brian, I was a little surprised that you could ask Dad to go home against his will," I told him again adjusting myself on the bed, I find it hard to believe.
"How do you look at me?" Brian asked, "I mean, what do you think of me? Do you think I am stupid, do you think I always carry out Dad's instructions because I can't stand up to him? Is that what you think?" Brian asked sounding a little Furious.
"Yes, Brian, that is what I think," I told him sounding a little angry as well.
Brian stared at me for a while, "you know what? You can think or assume whatever you want," he said, standing up from the chair and leaving the room.
I stood up slowly from the bed and walked out of the room too, I need to go and look for Doctor Sam, I need to get that information, because it is very important to me so that I can go in search of Kimberly first thing tomorrow morning.
"Doctor Sam, it is a good thing I found you now," I met him on my way to his office.
"Kyle, you are still here," Doctor Sam said walking closer to me.
"Yes, I am, Doctor Sam," I replied.
"Have you seen Brian? He was here some minutes ago, I thought you two left already," he asked.
"I need that information I asked you about earlier," I told him instead, not responding to his question about Brian.
"I thought you would go home and come back tomorrow for it since Brian is here already, your dad called me you know, he asked if you are good to go home?" Doctor Sam said.
"Why didn't you tell him I am not ready yet," I told Dr Sam.
"Look, Kyle, there is no point lying to your old man, you know, he is my patience too, and I do not want anything to trigger his heart problem, he sounded worried about you that is why I had to tell him you are okay when he asked, he asked me if you can come home already, I told him that you can, because the truth is you can stay home, but I told him you need to rest at least for some days, that means you can't go to the office, you can work from home, maybe, but not for long," Doctor Sam said.
"You should not have told him I am ready to work yet, I would have loved the break you now," I told Doctor Sam walking beside him.
"You must dislike your work," Doctor Sam said to me smiling a little.
"Dislike is an understatement, Doctor Sam, "I hate the job I do, I do not like it at all, it is not my thing, I feel like I am being forced to do it all because of mum and that stupid heart problem of Dad," I said walking into his office behind him.
"Hate is a strong word, Kyle, anyway, here is what you asked for," He said after a brief stare. "Remember, I never gave it to you, I do not want any scandal to arise from this, I do not want anyone finding out about it, especially your Dad," Doctor Sam told me.
"I was about to tell you to keep it a secret, Doctor Sam, it is a good thing you don't also want anyone to know about it, I will not tell Kimberly as well I just need to talk to her and see how the boy is doing too, that's all,"
"What will you tell Mrs Kimberly if she asks how you found her?" Doctor Sam asked.
"I will come up with something, don't worry," I replied.
"Ir is alright, you take care of yourself now, Kyle." He told me, "I have to go back to my patient, I just came here to take something," Doctor Sam told me turning to leave his office again, while I followed him out too, making sure I hid the piece of paper he wrote the information about Kimberly's contact properly in the pockets of my suit.
"Thanks again, Doctor Sam," I said once we were out of his office.
"Anytime, Kyle, you take care now," Doctor Sam told me and walked away, I turned as well, heading towards the hospitals' exit door.
Outside, Brian is already seated in his car, I bet he is waiting for me to come out, I walked to the car and got into the car, I put on my seatbelt and leaned back on the seat without a word to him.
Brian started the car almost immediately, and drove off without a word to me too, I did not talk to him because I am not in the mood for further conversations at the moment, and I think he is not in the mood either...
