Kimberly Brown's POV
"Home sweet home," Vicky said when we arrived home.
"Yes, home sweet home," I said within me, feeling relieved to have left the hospital.
"Yeah...," Sandra shouted full of excitement, jumping on her bed while I helped Alex lie on his bed.
"You are very happy to be back home, Sandra," Vicky said teasingly.
"Yes, Aunty Vicky, I feel very happy to be back home," Sandra said full of excitement, "now, I am going to play with my toys again," she added.
Alex two looks excited and I could see that he is about to make the move to join Sandra.
"Not so fast, Alex," I said just gesturing for him not to join Sandra, "you know that you are not as strong as you seem," I added.
"Oh no, Mum, I feel strong, see," Alex said raising his arms and showing his muscles, this made me and Vicky to laugh at him.
"I know that you are strong Alex, don't mind the ladies," Jimmy told him as he walks into the kids' room holding some of our belongings which he brought with him from the car, I bet he heard what we talked about.
"Thank you, Uncle Jimmy, I wonder why mum and Aunty Vicky laughed at me," Alex said to Jimmy, making a face.
"Oooh...," I said smiling at him and then turning to Vicky who is also smiling.
"I do not know either," Jimmy continues, "but I do know one thing though, they care about you, I think they are only happy to see that you are strong again, you know what?" Jimmy said to Alex.
"What, uncle Jimmy?" Alex asked, staring at him, I bet he is wondering what he is going to say just as I am too, I can see that Vicky's attention is on Jimmy.
"You see, when you were sick their faces were like this," Jimmy said frowning a little but in a funny way, this made me and Vicky laugh again.
"Seriously, Jimmy, is that how our faces looked?" Vicky asked him amid laughter.
"Yes darling, I was there, I saw it, that is exactly how your faces looked," Jimmy replied Vicky.
"That is not true, Jimmy, our faces never looked like that, you are exaggerating, " I told him too, shaking my head in disagreement.
"Do not mind them, Alex, I was there, you can ask Sandra if you want," Jimmy told Alex again, glancing at Sandra who is folding with her Teddy as if she is not paying attention to us.
"Is it true, Sandra?" I asked Sandra myself turning to face her.
"Yes, mummy," Sandra replied to my amazement, looking up from her Teddy, I knew it, her attention is in what we are saying only she didn't look like it.
"What?" Vicky asked, I guess she is surprised too, to hear Sandra's reply.
"Yes, Mummy, you and auntie Vicky were always sad," Sandra insisted.
"Your faces were really like that?' Alex asked turning to look at me and Vicky.
"Yes, boy, they were so sad, and it broke my heart seeing then that way and you too my boy, you were just lying there and not talking to us, so I think that is why they laughed, they are happy that you are alright and strong again," Jimmy told Alex, putting the things he brought on the ground.
"Is that true mum,?" Alex asked.
"Yes darling, that is why I do not want you to overwork yourself either by playing or doing anything that will make you spend much energy you don't have to stress yourself so much, this is the doctor's instruction or do you want to go back to the hospital I asked him.
"No, mum, I don't like it there, don't worry mum, I will not stress myself at all," Alex said, lying down properly on the bed.
"That is a good choice my boy," Jimmy said, giving Alex a high-five.
"Are you alright, Sandra?" I asked seeing how she went quiet all of a sudden, but hugging her Teddy tightly to her body.
"Yes, I am alright mum, I only want to rest properly, I have not slept on my bed for a long time now, I just miss my bed, mum," Sandra replied almost drowsy, I think she wants to sleep, which is a good thing for me, I wish she and Alex will go to sleep so that I can have a proper sleep as well.
"Alright, sweetie," I replied pulling the sheets to cover her body, "I am beginning to feel sleepy as well," I mumbled to myself.
"We have to go now, Kim," Vicky told me, walking from Alex's bed towards Jimmy, after pulling the sheets too on him, I think Alex too wants to sleep.
"That is alright, Thank you so much, Vicky, you have done so much for me, both of you," I said looking at Vicky and Jimmy, "you both have helped me so much that I can't thank you enough."
"That is enough, Kim, you don't have to mention it," we are family remember?" Vicky told me.
"Yes, we are family, but what you have done for me is more than what a family can do, Vicky," I told her, "thank you, Jimmy," I said too, turning to face Jimmy, "I know how much you have sacrificed just to be by my side during these few days," I told them.
"It's nothing, Kim, you are now like a sister to me," Jimmy said too.
"We will go now, Kim, call me when you need me to be here," Vicky said, "I am still available today, since I will be resuming work tomorrow," Vicky told me.
"Same here, Kim, I will not be working until tomorrow, but if there is anything I can do for you, do not hesitate to call whenever you need me, okay," Jimmy said too.
"Thanks a lot, guys, I do not know what I would have done without you," I told them, hugging them briefly as well, before walking them to the door from Alex and Sandra's room.
I feel very grateful to have them both, Vicky and Jimmy, I may be going through tough times, but knowing that I have these two by my side, makes me feel grateful and blessed despite everything.
"You take care now, Kim," Vicky said, hugging me again by the door.
"Okay, bye..." I said.
I closed the door behind me after waving them goodbye.
Back in Alex and Sandra's room, I found that they are both fast asleep, I heaved a sigh of relief, seeing how peaceful they sleep.
I left their room again, after kissing them each on the cheek, it is time to get that proper sleep myself, I said within me...
