"Hello, doctor Sam," I said, walking into Dr Sam's office very early this morning.
I have practically been awake through the night, I couldn't catch any sleep, how can I, when I'm in a hospital? And with this much going on, I had to make sure I leave this hospital first thing this morning.
"Hello, Mrs Brown, please do have a seat," Dr Sam said, "you are here so early, is there a problem? Is Alex okay?" Dr Sam asked looking at me, I think I have come here too early giving the look on his face.
"Oh, no, no, no, it's fine, Dr Alex, it's fine," I said, "I only came here because I want us to leave very early this morning," I told Dr Sam, I want you to discharge us early, that all,"
"Is that why you are here this early?" Doctor Sam asked looking and sounding a little bit relaxed as he sat back a little on his chair.
"Yes, Doctor Sam," I replied.
"Are you serious?" He asked again glancing at his wrist watch, I know that it is pretty early too.
"Yes Doctor Sam," I said again, wondering if I have come too early or that I am not supposed to be here at this time, but as it is, I don't think any time is too early for doctors, so why is he looking at me the way he is doing right now?
"Would you like it if I go and come back later?" I asked him, wondering if he would want to rest at this time.
"No, it's fine," he replied.
"Oh, okay, so..." I said almost to myself, not knowing what to say to him, I commend them though, doctors, I never knew they work almost round the clock, maybe not all of them, but the likes of Doctor Sam, I think, because, since I have been here, Dr Sam has been working and I was going to ask when he do have time to rest himself, but I guess that's his job anyway, so I thought to keep my thoughts to myself instead.
"If you don't mind me asking, Mrs Brown is it because of what Mrs Greenwood told you earlier? Is that why you want to leave here so early?" Doctor Sam asked.
I stared at him for a while wondering what my reply should be, he already knows the answer to the question why bother to ask me anyway.
"No, not that," I told him after a while, not willing to say anything to him.
"Is that so?" He asked again, "then, is it because of Sonia?" Doctor Sam asked again, peering at me this time I wonder what you want to hear from me, he should know Sonia is a b*tch, why then does he want to hear it from me?
"No," I replied, "it's just that I do not like staying in hospitals, that is why I want to leave as soon as possible, especially now that Alex is better," I told him instead, in reality, I do not want any more troubles or contact with the Greenwood’s, I think I have had enough of them.
Dr Sam chuckled a bit and then rub his palms together, I think he does not believe the reason I gave him, at the same time, I am wondering what I said that is funny to make him chuckle the way he did.
"It is okay, Mrs Brown, I understand," Doctor Sam said, "don't worry Alex will be discharged this morning, it is rather too early, don't you think you should probably wait a few more hours at least?" He added, looking around his table and then up to me.
"Alright, Doctor Sam, I just wanted to know if the discharge papers are ready, I will go and put our things together," I told him getting up to leave his office.
"Hold on a minute Mrs Brown,"
"Yes, Doctor Sam?"
"I needed to remind you that you should try and make sure Alex is properly guided and taken care of, make sure you watch him closely for now or better still take him to a hospital where you will be monitored at least for the next 24 to 48 hours just to make sure that there is nothing else to be worried about in regards to the accident," Doctor Sam told me, after I sat back down again.
"I would not have let you go just yet if not because of the situation at hand, at least for the next 24 hours," he added.
"Situation? Are you referring to Mr Kyle's family?" I asked almost immediately without thinking, of cause, I know it is because of them, I heard what Kyle's mum said to him last night in front of his office, I said within me, but somehow I wanted to hear it from him, he asked a moment ago if it is because of them I want to leave the hospital so soon.
"Well, just a situation, Mrs Brown, " Doctor Sam said instead after staring at me for a while, I guess he thought about his reply.
"Okay, that will be all, Mrs Brown," he added, I guess his hands must really be tied judging by the look on his face
"Alright Doctor Sam," I said, am not willing to stress it any further, because based on my assessment, Alex is going to be alright and running around again in no time...
