Lu Yi loudly retorted, his tone high but his commanding voice hid a hint of panic, which Pei Yansi keenly caught.
Pei Yansi saw the pale look on Lu Yi’s face and couldn’t help but sneer lightly, pulling the corners of his lips in derision.
"I’m just proposing my guess, you don’t need to react so strongly. Or is it that you have a guilty conscience?" Pei Yansi’s deep eyes stared at Lu Yi.
Lu Yi met his gaze, feeling his whole being trembling slightly.
"Enough!" Shen Heyu couldn’t stand it anymore; she walked up to Pei Yansi, stood in front of him with her arms spread to shield Lu Yi behind her, her eyes resolute.
She was actually defending Lu Yi?

And Lu Yi’s panic grew. He couldn’t help but yell at the door.

Because his conscience was guilty, he had done many things behind Shen Heyu’s back, even today’s baseless speculations by Pei Yansi had actually hit the mark.
Shen Heyu poured a glass of water for Lu Yi and comforted him, "Alright, don’t fuss over it with him. He’s already gone, and the doctor had urged you to rest well and keep calm."
Lu Yi absentmindedly took the glass of water from Shen Heyu and slowly lowered his eyes.
"Heyu, please don’t believe a word Pei Yansi said about me, he’s just trying to smear me. I would never do anything to hurt you, you must believe me."
