"Do you really not need me by your side?" Shen Heyu looked at Lu Yi with concern. Although Lu Yi had only suffered some superficial injuries, it was hard to say whether there would be any aftereffects.
Lu Yi shook his head. Right now, as long as Shen Heyu flitted before his eyes, he became uncontrollably obsessed with the touch of her palm, leaving him burning with restlessness.
Lu Yi wanted to go outside alone and get some fresh air to cool off before returning, but he didn’t expect to run into Pei Yansi the moment he stepped out.
Pei Yansi had just left the sickroom and was heading in the direction of his room.
But he definitely wasn’t there to look for Lu Yi; it could only be to find Shen Heyu. Thinking of this, Lu Yi’s fists clenched immediately, and his entire body puffed up like a cat facing danger.
"I’d advise you not to bother Shen Heyu anymore. She’s now my wife. We have already registered our marriage. President Pei hasn’t forgotten such an important event, has he?"

"I don’t know what tricks you used to coax her into agreeing to register the marriage with you, but I believe your short and phony marriage won’t last long. She will eventually come back to me."

"I’m warning you, Shen Heyu is now my wife. I won’t allow you to bother her anymore."
Lu Yi gritted his teeth and warned Pei Yansi, every word squeezed out between his clenched teeth.
Pei Yansi, taller than Lu Yi, glanced down at him with a look of disdain, his expression cold as ice.
"Move aside. I have something very important that I need to clarify with Shen Heyu in person."
"You son of a bitch, haven’t I already warned you not to bother my wife? Are you taking my words as wind passing by?" Lu Yi’s eyes were filled with anger, webbed with red veins like spiderwebs.
"You’re blocking my way. I’ll only say it once."
Lu Yi’s patience with Pei Yansi had already reached its limit, and his dismissive attitude only fueled his anger. Fuming, he clenched his fist and swung it directly at Pei Yansi.
Pei Yansi was struck by the punch and staggered backward before falling to the ground.
Lu Yi had put all his strength into this punch and looked triumphantly down at Pei Yansi lying on the ground.
Blood seeped from the corner of Pei Yansi’s mouth. While Lu Yi was reveling in his success, a shocked gasp from behind made him turn frantically, and he indeed saw Shen Heyu standing right behind him.
He looked at Shen Heyu, but she only had eyes for Pei Yansi lying on the ground. With a face pale from shock, she covered her mouth with her hands, unable to believe what she had just witnessed.
"Heyu..." Lu Yi called out to Shen Heyu in a soft voice, but it was as if she hadn’t heard him at all.
She moved robotically, with uneven steps toward Pei Yansi, and carefully helped him up.
"Pei Yansi, what should we do? Your abdominal wound has been torn open again. I’ll help you to your room and call a doctor to have a look at it. Just hold on."
Shen Heyu carefully lifted Pei Yansi towards his hospital room.
Following behind her like a child who had done something wrong was Lu Yi. He tried to call out Shen Heyu’s name several times, but Shen Heyu ignored him.
Shen Heyu called for a doctor to treat Pei Yansi’s wound. As soon as the doctor walked in, she anxiously went over to him.
"Doctor, please come and have a look at him. His abdominal wound has been torn open again. I don’t know if there’s a risk of infection. Please hurry and stop the bleeding and clean it up."
The doctor immediately began to treat Pei Yansi’s wound, and Shen Heyu stood by the bed. Seeing the wound torn open again, her heart ached.

"What did you just say? Have you lost your mind today? Why did you hit him? You knew full well that his injuries had not fully healed," Shen Heyu accused Lu Yi.
Lu Yi didn’t feel he had done anything wrong, but it still pained him when Shen Heyu questioned him .
"You’re actually yelling at me for his sake. You want to know why I hit him, right? I’ll tell you now. I warned him to stay away from you because you are my wife now. But do you know what he said?"
"That bastard didn’t take my warning seriously, even wanted to continue pestering you in front of me. I couldn’t hold back my anger and punched him. I think that punch was what he deserved."
Lu Yi raised his hand angrily, pointing at Pei Yansi in the hospital bed.
Pei Yansi’s wound had bled a lot because it was torn, and his face was pale.
Shen Heyu looked at Lu Yi coldly, "Just because of a verbal dispute, you resorted to violence? Seeing how seriously injured he is, couldn’t you have just endured it?"

"You’ve always wanted to know if I believe whether last time was a self-directed act by him, right? Well, I’ll tell you now what I think. I don’t believe Pei Yansi would create such an insane, self-directed drama just to tie me down."
"Now you’ve heard my answer. Are you satisfied?"
Lu Yi was completely stunned. He stood there mute, staring blankly at Shen Heyu.
"I’ve produced evidence that last time was a self-directed act by him, but you do not believe me and still choose to trust him."
"Hadn’t you resolved to keep your distance from him? The impression you’re giving me now is that you haven’t forgotten about him, that he is still in your heart, right?"
