"Chen Lingmeng, if you continue to be so obstinate, the outcome will be bad for both you and me," Pei Yansi frowned as he looked at Chen Lingmeng.
But Chen Lingmeng just laughed out loud, as if she had lost her mind.
"Brother Yan Si, even if I can’t have you, I definitely won’t let Shen Heyu have you, especially since we are about to get engaged."
"I’m telling you the engagement will definitely not go smoothly, and I absolutely will not marry you," Pei Yansi made his stance clear.
He had only been humouring Chen Lingmeng before, but now Chen Lingmeng was getting too deeply involved, to the point of no return.
Chen Lingmeng had been laughing, but when she heard what Pei Yansi said, she froze completely.
For a moment, she stared at Pei Yansi in a daze, unable to believe what she had just heard.
"Brother Yan Si, what are you saying? So even though you agreed to our engagement, you actually had other plans all along, no wonder you were always unwilling to cooperate with me in trying on the wedding toast attire."
Chen Lingmeng finally came to a sudden realization, feeling all the blood in her body rushing to her brain.
"That’s right, I never intended to marry you from the start."
"Don’t forget who was responsible for me becoming today, I could have appeared in front of everyone looking beautiful, but now I am confined to this wheelchair."
Chen Lingmeng’s voice suddenly became shrill, as sharp as a blade scraping glass, and looking at her frenzied state, Pei Yansi felt only sympathy and pity.
"We’ve come to this point, do you still want to deceive yourself? You know very well for whose sake you ended up , and are your legs really broken? I doubt that."
Last time Pei Yansi had made it clear that he was investigating the car accident, and he had found some leads and gathered some evidence, initially thinking that after bringing up the matter, they would restrain themselves.
But unexpectedly, even after knowing that Pei Yansi had evidence in hand, they persisted stubbornly, insisting that Chen Lingmeng’s car accident was caused by Pei Yansi, and that he was also the direct cause of her current state of being in a wheelchair.

Pei Yansi watched Chen Lingmeng’s retreating figure, not following her out. The room was left with only Pei Yansi, Shen Heyu, and Lu Yi.
"Your fiancée has left, aren’t you going to follow and comfort her?" Lu Yi said with a chilly tone, looking at Pei Yansi’s back.
That comment pulled Pei Yansi’s thoughts back to reality.
Pei Yansi slowly closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his gaze remained exceptionally sharp.
He turned his head to look at Shen Heyu, directly ignoring Lu Yi, who seemed most present.
"You came to my hospital room earlier, spoke angrily, and seemed suspicious that this morning’s car accident involving you was related to me," Pei Yansi looked into Shen Heyu’s eyes, his expression was incredibly firm and transparent.
Shen Heyu hadn’t considered this at all; it was Lu Yi who had brought it up, but Shen Heyu still couldn’t believe that Pei Yansi could be so callous.
"Whether you believe it or not, I had nothing to do with this matter. I would never joke with your life. As for whether the accident was coincidental or intentional, I will have someone thoroughly investigate it."
Pei Yansi glanced at Lu Yi, lying on the hospital bed. Only by getting to the bottom of this could he clear his own name.
"Stop acting here. Rest assured, I won’t believe a word you say." Lu Yi interjected coldly, looking worriedly at Shen Heyu, fearing that Shen Heyu might waver.
Shen Heyu’s heart indeed wavered slightly because Pei Yansi’s demeanor and words appeared so guilt-free.
"As long as you believe I didn’t do it, that’s all that matters." Pei Yansi didn’t need Lu Yi’s trust.
"Shen Heyu, don’t let him deceive you. Think about it, isn’t it too coincidental that we had a car accident this morning as we left home? Even future investigations might not find a trace. It’s clear someone arranged this deliberately," Lu Yi warned Shen Heyu, preemptively directing suspicion toward Pei Yansi because he feared Shen Heyu would believe him.
"So, you’re that eager to throw this dirty water on me?" Pei Yansi raised an eyebrow displeasedly, as Lu Yi seemed to always be sabotaging their relationship.
"I’m not intentionally trying to sling mud at you, but I find this whole affair very suspicious." Lu Yi’s eyes were fixed intensely on Pei Yansi as Pei Yansi stepped towards the hospital bed, one step at a time.
Pei Yansi glanced at Lu Yi before he let out a contemptuous laugh, his piercing eyes like a sharp knife wanting to dissect Lu Yi and see his inner workings.
"If you insist the matter is suspicious, then I think the most suspicious person is you. Since you were in the accident, why did you escape unscathed except for some scratches? This could suggest that whoever planned this accident didn’t really want to hurt you, but rather performed it as a play for someone’s benefit."
Indeed, Pei Yansi was astute; he instantly guessed the truth of the matter, frightening Lu Yi into a cold sweat on his forehead.
His eyes shockingly gazed at the hint of a smirk on Pei Yansi’s lips.
"What do you mean by that? Are you suggesting that I staged the accident as a play for Heyu to see? I’d advise you not to go too far."
"I’m not as deranged as you to even plot against myself," because Pei Yansi had struck a nerve, Lu Yi unconsciously revealed some nervousness, his voice pitched higher as he vehemently denied Pei Yansi’s accusation, but Pei Yansi just responded with a scornful laugh.
"I wouldn’t dismiss the possibility of you staging the whole act. After all, you never claimed that the time I went to the factory to rescue people was staged, so why couldn’t this accident be your own doing?" Pei Yansi sharply interrogated Lu Yi.
Lu Yi’s fists clenched slowly, as tight as if they were welded shut.
