Author's POV
As soon as Angela enters the home entrance, the two maids watch her coming and immediately greet her. They were happy to see her come back home, as they watched how their boss spent his whole time in the bar room. Without caring day and night. They knew something happened between the couple. But they just hoped everything would be solved as Angela finally came back.
Angela noticed the two maids smiling at her while she could only show a small smile back to them, before walking inside. As soon as she took a step, her heart turned heavier while her gaze went around the home's every corner with a painful stare. She remembered every happy memory that she got from here with Eric. Even though she was deeply hurt and wanted to forget everything.
However, it's her life's most important page. Even though she doesn't want to turn that page, she can't erase it or tear it.
Soon her eyes moved to the living area and she took a further step, just to grab Eric's intense stare at her.
She felt thumped for a moment, to see how he was looking at her. Something changes there, but what? She couldn't guess.
Eric was sitting on the big couch while the divorce papers were on the table, which she immediately guessed.
Eric's hands grab the goblet in which he had whiskey.
He gulped the last portion from it while his eyes were always looking at Angela.
Angela could see his bloodshot red eyes while the atmosphere reeked of alcohol. But she's not going to feel sad or upset for him. He is the one and the only reason for his suffering.
Eric put the glass back on the table while he didn't flinch his stares at her.
Angela didn't want to play a watch game with him anymore, so avoiding his gaze, she moved toward him.
As he is already waiting with papers for her, she guessed he is ready to leave her and this relationship. Suddenly, this thought doesn't make her happy. But she doesn't want to let herself get lost because of these temporary feelings.
She always maintained a calm aura around her while she always looked at him with a straight face. Like he is nothing to her anymore.
"Angela…" Eric wanted to be calm but soon seeing her, he couldn't help but feel weak and called her name tenderly as he put the glass on the table and stood from his place, going towards her, to get closer.
But Angela immediately stopped him while using her hand in front of him in the signal.
Eric stopped in his tracks.
"I came here as you asked, now I hope you will give me the papers back with your signing up, so I can leave fast…"
Angela's eyes looked at him coldly while displeasure could be seen in her expression.
Eric's heart clasped while he felt hurt to hear her harsh words. The way she's wanting to leave him, it's like he never matters to her after knowing his true identity. The love he showed and made her feel every time through their marriage it's all vanished.
He wanted her to realize how much he loved her, how he adored her! But now it's all turned void.
"Angela...Can't you give me one chance?" His eyes turned moist while his body turned impassive.
"No…I can't!" Angels immediately refused him while adding, "Chance? Do you think you got that right? Do you think you deserve the chance after what you and your family did to me? You all are my closest family members but what you all did… I'm never going to accept you and your apologies…" Angela's harsh words turned into knives for him which dug into his heart.
He could feel how much she hated to stay with him or speak to him. This realization made him more hurt.
Angela could see how hurt he was, but she didn't flinch and maintained her cold aura to not let herself be soft. She will get a divorce and leave this city. She made this plan as soon as she came to meet him.
"Angela...I know, I know, I hide my identity but it doesn't mean my love for you is also a lie…" His voice filled with suffering.
Angel's eyes flickered while her heart clutched to hear his painful voice.
"Angela… the thing I had done for you… done for us… it's not an act. it's not a lie! The time I spend with you. The feeling I showed to you… is all true…I truly lo…" His lips shook up when he tried to open his heart in front of her. But before he could say he loved her. She stopped him.
"Now, your words are nothing for me, Eric…"
"You loved me but I didn't love you..."
Eric's heart shattered to hear this from her. He felt, His heart stop beating for a moment.
While Angela completed her words.
"You all can't choose whom I need to love and whom I don't need to… it should be my choice…and I can't be with you…"
He fell silent. While he took steps backward feeling too bruised.
"The love I showed you… you know it does not belong to you…" Angela's eyes got tears.
Eric's breath turned heavy. While his eyes looked at her with an injured gaze.
Angela noticed every gesture of him and felt heartache. However, she ignored her inner voice and looked at him with a cold face. There is no emotion, no feelings for him. All she had were empty eyes.
Eric felt pain when he tried to speak to her anymore, but he couldn't give up on his love like this. So, after obtaining all the urges he asked.
"Angela...Do you truly don't want me? Do you truly don't want to stay with me?" His voice shook while he felt numb to the core.
Angela looked at him coldly while she collected all her strength to say 'yes'.
"Yes…"
"I don't want to stay with you. I don't want to see you… In this life, we are both just going to be strangers from now on…"
"When I married you in the name of Erish. At that time I loved your brother but after knowing the truth… I don't love anyone anymore…!"
She declared without showing any emotion. While Eric is still trying to search for any discomfort in her eyes. But there is nothing...there is no emotion for him. She was serious with her words and he could feel that.
But could he let her go?
No! He is still a coward and can't let her leave him. He can't live without her. Love always makes people realize how much they devour themselves on it and are not ready to abandon it.
Love needs two people to grow and the feeling strings are always worked under two people's connection.
When one day, one person decides to cut the strings, the other will suffer because the string is still attached to his heart.
