Sara was on her way over to Nora's house when she receieved a call from Diego. "Hi,"
"Hey, where are you at?"
"I am on my way to Nora's."
"Are you sure everything is okay?"
"With Nora?" She asked but didn't wait to hear his response. "Yes." She answered. "Just that she is finding it hard to move on that easily."
"I understand. What about you?"
"Me?" Sara was shocked.
"Kelvin told me that he noticed you weren't quite yourself when he called you out."
Sara was kind of surprised that Kelvin took notice and even cared to share it with someone.
"Are you still there?"
"Um...yeah...I am good."
"Okay. Let me know if there is anything you'd like me to do for you or if she needs help."
"Of course. Thanks a lot." she hung up. She boarded a taxi that took her over to Nora's house.
She arrived at the front of her house, knocked at the door and Nora came over to open the door. She was quite shocked to see Sara standing in front of her.
"Aren't going to let me in?" Sara asked.
Nora was a little reluctant and she felt a sense of guilt rushed over so instead of replying, she opened the door wide for her to come in. After Sara entered, Nora shut the door and went to continue what she was doing.
"I love what you have done to the place." Sara looked around to see that the house was tidy and the fragrance of the house built a welcoming presence into the house.
"Thanks." Nora mumbled without looking up at Sara.
Sara noticed that she was ignoring her and it almost made her laugh but she held it in. "You know, you can just say you are sorry." Sara walked up to Nora and stood behind her as she wrapped her arms around her waist. "It won't take anything from you if you apologize when you know you are wrong."
Nora turned to face Sara and she didn't know why it was always Sara who tries to make things right. The first time she talked about her past relationships when she was heartbroken that Michael hadn't texted her, it was Sara who came to patch things up and now, the same thing is happening again. Will you ever be able to put her pride aside and apologize for once? She thought.
"You mean so much to me Nora. You and I have come a long way to let things come in between us. I understand that you were sad and angry but then, saying all those things to me..." she gave a bittersweet smile. "...sometimes I want to get angry and not care but then I remember how we used to be when everything was okay and I held unto that and I am glad I did. I love you so much, Nora. I just wish you would stop pushing people that cares about you away before you realize that they actually meant good for you."
"I am sorry too, Sara." Nora bowed her head in shame. "I shouldn't have said all those words no matter how angry or sad I was and I am sorry I didn't come to apologize to you first. I was..."
Sara smiled. "Your ego and pride got the best of you, I understand but promise me, such thing will never repeat itself again."
Nora nodded. "I promise."
Sara pulled Nora close and hugged her.
"So what's for lunch?"
"Um...omelette?"
"I will go home to tell dad that I would be spending some weeks with you."
"Your dad won't be so happy if he finds out you are spending those weeks at my place."
Sara's dad didn't really like Nora and they didn't know why.
"I still don't understand why he doesn't like you."
"I know, right?"
"Maybe he saw you in his dreams or something."
"Doing what?"
"snatching his daughter's man from her?" Nora laughed. "'cos I don't see why he doesn't like you."
"If I was a guy coming to propose to you, I am pretty sure he'd have warned me severally to stay away from his daughter."
They both laughed. "He knows you and I are inseparable and that's why he doesn't bother me anymore." Nora served their food and as they were about to eat, Sara remembered something. "Lest I forget, Diego called to check up on you."
"Oh! I haven't had the time to call anyone." She said, sadly.
"I am sure they understand." Sara assured her. "Um, have you been feeling strange lately?"
Nora raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Strange lately, how?"
"Based on what the nurse said about you having a chance of being pregnant."
Nora stopped eating as she tried to think of any weird signs she might have neglected but nothing. "I don't think that diagnosis was for me."
"But I will advise that we should still be watchful about it. If Michael had sex with you without protection, there is a ninety nine percent chance that you might be."
Nora nodded. "I just wish this is nothing but the nurse's report. I don't think I can bear the child of that monster in my womb."
"What if peradventure you get pregnant, not saying you are but what if you turn out pregnant, would you abort the child?"
Nora didn't reply to her because she didn't know what she would do if such was to be the case. She might say she would abort the child now but when that time comes she might decide to keep the child or she might decide to keep the child and when that time comes, she might choose to abort the child. She wasn't quite sure what she would do. "Can we not talk about this right now? I might end up losing my appetite."
"Sorry," Sara said apologetically before smiling at Nora. "But I can't wait to be a godmother." Nora gave her a stern look and when Sara saw it, she laughed. "C'mon, I was joking."
"It better be nothing but a joke because if this comes true, I am handing the child over to you."
"So you are saying that you will bear the child?"
Nora knew Sara was teasing her so instead of replying to her, she ate her food in silence. If there was one thing she was grateful for, it was definitely for her friendship.
She has no idea how blessed she is to have such an amazing friend. Sara was the anchor she needed to scale through at a time like this and she was ready to everything to hold her tight until the very end.
