Nora woke up and was surprised to see Kelvin sitting next to her. She turned to look for her brother and Sara but she saw no one. "They aren't here yet?" She asked while Kelvin helped her sit up.
"Not yet."
"What about Diego?"
"He went over to the house to check up on them."
"Oh! I would like to bathe now."
"I will warm up the water for you." He got up and went to the bathroom.
Nora was about to take off her clothes when she saw Kelvin's phone ring and the caller was Diego. She was overjoyed and picked his call. "He is dead," were the words she heard. She froze. "I got there and the ambulance came to take away his body. Sara isn't herself right now. Please, keep this from Nora."
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she fell to the ground.
Kelvin heard the sound and rushed to meet her only to find her on the floor with tears in her eyes.
"Hello. Kelvin, are you still there?" Kelvin heard Diego's voice and when he saw that Nora was with his phone, he knew she has heard the news.
He collected the phone from her and went out to receive the call. "Hey,"
"What took you so long...?"
"She knows." Kelvin cuts in. "She was the one that picked the call."
"What?! I will text you the location of the hospital."
"Okay"
The door opened and Kelvin saw Nora all dressed up and was about to leave but he hung up and ran to stop her.
"What are you doing?"
She tried to pull his hands away from his but he held her tight. All she could do was cry. Kelvin pulled her close and hugged. "Let me go! Let me go!" She fought, pushed, punched him but Kelvin took all the pain and hugged her tighter. She slowly fell to the ground as Kelvin bent down to wipe her tears. "I...I...want to see him... I w...wa...want to..."
Kelvin couldn't bear to watch her this way, he buried her head on his chest as she cried louder. "I will take you to meet him but you need to bathe and eat..."
"I want to go now... How can I..."
"Your brother won't want you coming over to see him looming dirty and smelly. I promise to take you. Just come inside and shower, ok?"
He managed to convince her to have her bath and when she did, he gave her food to eat but she couldn't eat it. He didn't force her to eat again. He grabbed the car keys and drove her to the hospital.
Kelvin watched her every now and then but all she could do was sob silently.
They got to the hospital. She didn't wait for him to be a gentleman and get the door for her. She opened the door and rushed inside the hospital. She saw Sara and Diego sitted next to a ward. She was about to go in when some nurses came to stop her.
"I am sorry but you cannot go in just yet." One of the nurses told her.
Sara walked up to her and hugged her as she cried on her shoulders. "W...why...?"
"I am sorry, Nora. It's all my fault. If only I had come a bit early, this wouldn't have happened. I am so sorry!"
Nora sobbed as Diego and Kelvin watched them.
The doctor came out of the room and attended the them. "I am sorry for you loss. We ran some tests and we figure he had fracture in the brain because I believe he fell and hit his head based how you said you found him. It would be a miracle if he survived it but I am sorry he didn't."
Nora was crying and Kelvin had to be the one to attend to the doctor. "Can we see him?"
"Of course but after you are done, his body would have to be moved to the morgue."
The more Nora kept hearing all these words, the more she cried.
"Thank you, doctor."
The doctor nodded. "My condolences once again." He left them.
Nora walked into the ward. She saw her brother being covered with a white sheet. Every step she took brought tears. She was about to fall down when Sara went to support her. They walked closed to Andrew's dead body.
"We will go to the doctor's office," Diego and Kelvin excused them while Nora and Sara came to say their goodbyes.
Nora opened the sheet off his face and she saw her brother's paled and cold face. She hugged him and cried loudly. Sara couldn't control her tears either.
"Why did you do this to me, Andrew?" Nora asked as she cried. "This isn't what you promised me..."
***flashback***
"I would be the one to walk you down the aisle on your wedding day and by then, i would be standing on my two feet again." Andrew told Nora when she was sleeping.
He was about to leave her room when she said, "You promise?"
"I promise." he answered her and pecked her forehead.
**Reality**
"You promised to walk me down the aisle on my wedding day but now you are gone... You have left me. You promised to stay with me and watch me become a beautiful and successsful woman...you said you were going to be there for me whenever I need you but..."
"Nora..."
The door opened and the nurses came in. "I am sorrt but we need to take the body to the morgue." the leader gestured the other nurses to move the body. The male nurse covered Andrew's face while the other male nurse pulled the bed out of the room.
Nora became weak. She felt like she was dying slowly inside. She wished it was her in her brother's position and not her.
"I am so sorry." Sara hugged her and she hugged her back but that didn't end the tears that rolled down her eyes profusely.
She is all alone! No mother, no father and now that has taken the only family she had left. She thought.
"I want you to know that you are not all alone." Sara said as if reading her thoughts. "You have me, Diego and Kelvin. We are your family now. Don't ever think that you are alone because you are not."
Nora gave a bittersweet smile and hugged Sara tighter. She was glad that she has someone that understood her silence.
