Chapter 71
Sansa's Pov
"No," I replied.
"He's not in good shape; Kris has given up on him, but he's not telling Xavier," Amara lamented.
"What's the matter with him?" I inquired.
"Ischemia is a condition in which blood flow (and thus oxygen) is restricted or reduced in a specific area of the body. He is on the verge of death, and no one knows how long he will live." Amara started
"It's painful to lose someone, but it's even more painful to have someone and not know when you'll lose that person," I said quietly.
"You are correct; Xavier has been searching for his brother for years, and it is extremely painful for him to see him in this condition," Amara said.
Xavier threatened me in the jungle, and one look into his eyes was enough to convince me that he was insane. I wanted to leave before he did something to me and I was stuck in this place forever, like Bella.
"Xavier is already disturbed by Levine; he hasn't gotten enough sleep; he is injured but still determined to go on a mission to protect the pack, and he has always been the best alpha. He's always done a lot for the pack, Xavier—-" Amara was speaking nicely about Xavier when her voice faded to me, and I was not interested in hearing his praise when he was the one I desperately wanted to kill.
That could be my opportunity; if Xavier died fighting, I'd be free. I had hoped, but I was unable to show it to anyone.
"Even if I told him to stop, he would not listen," I explained.
"He'll listen to you if you try to stop him," Amara said.
Xavier was on his way to the jungle when he came across us in the middle while Edward was pushing his wheelchair.
"That's what I was saying to your bride, that you're stubborn to go on a mission in this condition. She said you wouldn't listen to her even if she stopped you," Amara told Xavier.
Xavier and Edward were staring at me as if I had stolen money from their pockets.
"Do you want me to stay?" a solemn Xavier inquired.
No, never. If he stayed back, he would not be killed, so I would have to be the one to bother killing him, which irritated me.
"I don't want to interpret Alpha's decisions; he is the expert," I said.
"You should rest," Xavier stated solemnly, avoiding eye contact with me.
"Take care of Levine until I return." Xavier to Amara
"How will you deal with this condition of yours? I'm concerned," Amara told Xavier.
"I'll be back if I— if I won't return you have a responsibility to look after Levine," Xavier said.
"Levine needs you the most, but you're leaving like this," Amara attempted to persuade Xavier to stay.
"Take everyone inside the mansion; it's dangerous out here. Don't come out until we return," Xavier told Amara.
"OK, please return soon," Amara sadly said.
Edward pushed Xavier's wheelchair as they traveled through the jungle with other members of the Oak Pack. I returned my gaze to him, hoping never to see him again.
Suddenly, I became aware of something strange. My heart was about to burst, I was disturbed, and I wanted to know what was wrong with me. Why was I experiencing anxiety that I was unaware of at the time?
"Come," Vera's whispers began.
When I first heard something, I looked around.
"Come to me," Vera's voice said in my head.
When Amara, Fariya, and Ruth were gathering everyone inside the mansion to lock it from the inside for protection, I began walking towards the dungeon.
My pace quickened as I wished for the whispers to stop.
"Lady Sansa!" Fariya called out to me louder. I returned her gaze. "What are you going? We need you to come inside because we need to close the door."
"I'll be back," I promised.
"It's Xavier's order; everyone should be inside the mansion by now. Please return here," Fariya insisted.
"Come to me," Vera's whispers continued.
"Sansa!! Please come to me: "Vera's whispers were becoming more audible."
When Vera's voice was annoying to me, I pretended not to be upset.
"I'll be back," I said as I began to walk toward the dungeon.
"Sansa, Lady!!! You must return here," Fariya spoke up louder.
I walked forward without looking back, ignoring how dangerous it was to be out there at the time.
When one of the creatures got in my way, I came to a complete stop. I took two steps back while its gaze was fixed on me.
I was astounded to see the other eight creatures walking around. When they were about to close the gates, I started running towards the mansion.
When the door was about to close, I and the creatures were sprinting towards it. I was fleeing for my life as death pursued me to hunt me down.
"Come on, come on!" Amara yelled at me.
"faster!!" Fariya yelled.
I was running like I was being destroyed from behind, and the creatures were only a few inches away.
I calculated that even if I got to the door, it would have been closed. They were holding the door open for me, but I was too late.
"Let's go!!!"
When they were about to close the door from the inside, I crossed the gate and thought I was safe for a second. I returned my gaze to them. I was catching my breath when I realized we were safe.
They were flying in an instant as the creatures from outside kicked open the door. In an instant, all of the creatures were inside.
Everyone began to flee, hiding and locking themselves in their rooms. Creatures were causing damage and harm to anyone who got in their way. We couldn't hear them because their scream was too loud. It was a form of torture.
Their red, crystal-shiny eyes were excellent at detecting their prey. Ruth, Amara, and Fariya were fighting alongside the other pack members, but the creatures were not dying; they appeared to be immortal. Nothing could kill them.
They were taller, with grey furry skin and terrifying teeth, just like wild bears, but they were the most powerful and wild.
I was running to save myself, but I got stuck in a corner with no way out. One of them attacked me and raised a claw.
