Under The Moonlight: Alpha's Bride Chapter 61

Chapter 61 Xavier's Pov Some relationships were destined to fail from the start. No matter how well I tried to get along with my brother, he never accepted me. When I wanted to cry openly, I wanted to hide because they had never seen me cry. After all, I was good at hiding my emotions. Outside the room, I waited for the good news about Levine for an hour. when no one was allowed in that area. As Elodie exited the room, I stood up. She was the pack's most senior and spiritually strongest member; no one had as much experience as she did. "He is still breathing, but we don't know how long; you should be prepared," Elodie said. I had lost all courage to speak; a single tear was rolling down my cheek, and my dry eyes had already given up. My heart was racing, and my mind was completely blank. Elodie walked away slowly, and I sat back down on the chair. Maya appeared in an instant and sat down beside me. "You did what you could, and you did it bravely; now leave the rest to fate," Maya said softly. "I thought I'd find him, but he was good at hiding," I said to our parents when they expected me to look after him," my voice breaking. Maya placed her hand on my shoulder to comfort me as I struggled to hide my emotions and keep my tears from falling. "If I arrived at the right time if I—" my mouth wouldn't let me speak because my voice was shaking, and Maya cut me off in the middle. "That's not your fault; everyone has a different story to live and a different story to tell the world; life can't be simple; you can't stay on the right track for long; don't distract yourself," Maya said softly. For a brief moment, we were both deafeningly silent. I, too, did not want to open my mouth or interact with anyone. "Cry; don't hold it in; let it out, or that could be the most painful experience you've ever had," Maya advised before leaving me alone to cry. I was still holding back, my chest as heavy as a mountain on my shoulders. Maya was a close friend of my parents, and she was a great source of advice to me after my parents died. I had never interacted with anyone before because I was never interested in the pack's life; I had spent the majority of my life traveling. Things changed after I became alpha. I had to become what I had long refused to become. Things never go as planned. You must trick them to use it for your benefit, or they will control you. I was unable to deal with the fact that I had a high chance of losing my brother, who was laying helplessly on the bed inside the room when I did not dare to approach him. I stepped away from the doors and started walking to stretch my legs. Nobody was around, and silence reigned supreme in the mansion. I had no idea how or when I ended up facing my room's door; Sansa might be inside, so I raised my hand to open the handle to enter, but was I prepared to face her? No, I wasn't ready to show her my broken self. I turned away from the room where I was supposed to sleep on my bed after a long journey. She didn't like being with me, but her presence was enough for me to feel like someone was there for me even when she wasn't. I was never overly sensitive before, but my wounded heart was looking for something to cause my eyes to leak tears, which I forced myself to keep inside. I left the mansion to get some fresh air in the garden, where I spent the majority of my time. But my heavy heart was getting heavier. The stars shone brightly in the dark sky. I wanted to be alone and erase all the distracting thoughts; my eyes were tired from the heavy tears; and my body had already given up, but I was still forced to use it. When there was smoke around, my attention was drawn to the noise coming from the dungeon's side. I arrived at the dungeon. Everyone was trying to put out the fire because no one wanted to go inside, and they were doing everything they could, but the fire was unaffected. "Xavier!" upset Jerry rushed over to me. "What exactly is going on here?" I inquired. "That girl, Hina, no Vera, that witch seeking attention, the dungeon is on fire as a result of her spell, Edward is still inside the dungeon with her, and—" As I rushed inside the dungeon, Jerry's voice faded in my ears. On my way, I noticed Felix and Marina on their knees, fully chained and surrounded by pack members, unable to flee. The dungeon was filled with smoke and was still on fire from the inside. As soon as I stepped inside, I began coughing. As I went deeper, I didn't stop. I noticed Ray sitting quietly in the cell. "What exactly are you doing here?" When I was surprised to see Ray, I asked him. Ray abruptly rose to his feet and inquired, "Have you found Levine?" "He's here," I announced. "There was a huge mess behind your back; Vera wants to destroy all of us," Ray explained. "Where has she gone?" I inquired. "In the dark prison," he explained. I broke the lock, but the door would not open; I suspected it was being held by an unknown source. "The door won't open; she wants me in the dungeon," Ray explained. I made my way to the dark prison faster than ever before, taking the lantern from the wall and using it to light my way through the darkness. I rushed over to Edward, who was lying on the floor, to check his pulse.
