"What is that on your neck?" Aria asked when she leaned in closer to me, I didn’t budge, I stared at her as she did what she wanted to do, she behaved like she was mom, checking me to make sure I didn’t make a wrong
I know my sister better than anyone and I know she is suspicious about Luca, about last night.
"He marked you, that’s not possible." She breathed out and I rolled my eyes at her.
Did she think Luca would want her instead, he never did, and she always behaved like she was better than me, better than anything I could do.
"It’s possible and it happened Aria and I are not going to stand here and listen to you blabber about how it’s unfair, you know your mom just died and all you can think about is Luca and me, Rebecca may be horrible but she loved you, she cared for you." I breathed out when I reached for the glass.
"You know nothing about my mother and me."
"You are right and when all of this is over, you can go back to your perfect life, have the boyfriend you always wanted, it’s a shame you still don’t have a mate." I smiled, it’s unlike me to behave yet I did.
I wanted to give back the same energy she gave me all these years.
"You can go back to your home, sell it, burn it, I don’t care about any of it, you do what makes you happy," I spoke before heading out do the room, I didn’t have to turn to watch her glare at me because I could feel it.
I could feel the gaze on me.
I wanted to make a meal for Luca today, after he gets back from work, I felt like he needed it, something to take his mind off my ex-husband.
I found myself in the other room, the one with the black door as I stared at the rest of the pictures, I wished he could tell me more about his brother, I wanted to know Luca from his eyes and not from what I saw.
I inched closer when I found another picture lying on the floor, it was covered in dust, without thinking, I wiped it off using my hand and a whiff of dust filled my nose, my eyes twitched and it filled with tears before my breath hitches.
"Who are you?" I whispered against my breath staring at the picture; it’s a woman, a girl to be precise, she looked just like me yet she is not me, she had this smile on her face.
Her hair was the same as mine and her eyes were the same as mine, yet I still knew she was not me, I stared at the picture again and I could feel my heart beating against my chest, I could feel my eyes covered with more tears.
I needed to leave the room and Luca has some explaining to do.
I need to know why she looked like me. Is that the reason she got me from Conrad, who is she?.
I headed out into the hallway when I heard voices coming from another room, I pressed my ears against the door.
"The Alpha marked her." I heard a voice, it sounded like a man, there are no men in the house except the guards and he didn’t sound happy.
"It can’t be good because now they are connected, I had no idea this could happen. She has to be special." The man said again when I moved closer to the door and a creeping sound filled my ears.
I didn’t hear his voice again, I found myself racing into the nearest room and I hid under the bed, my heart beating against my rib cage as I heard footsteps leading into the room.
I need to know who the man is; he could be the guard Luca has been looking for.
I pressed my hands over my mouth, suppressing any noise when his feet passed through the bed, it stopped for a second when he cursed out and he left the room.
I am not a fool, I can’t leave now, he could be there waiting for me, waiting anxiously to see who it was, and for now he has a guess, it’s either me, Aria or one of the other guards heard him and he is paranoid, he is scared
A scared wolf is the worst of its kind.
Seconds passed and so did minutes, when I heard someone yell my name, it was Luca, his voice radiating through the house when I pulled away and I found myself running, I didn’t stop, I kept on running until I bumped into someone and I fell to the ground.
Tears gathered in my eyes when I stared at him.
Before I could speak, we heard footsteps heading toward us, it was Luca, he inched toward me and he held me off the ground been his eyes met mine.
"I don’t know." I breathed out.
"Don’t protect anyone, Olivia."
"I am not, I was on the third floor, checking through the pictures." I breathed out so low, yet I knew he heard me. "When I heard a guard having a phone call in one of the rooms, I made a noise so I had to hide under one of the beds in the nearest room, I had been there for hours," I explained.
"What did he say?" Luca asked, Ares stared at me too wishing for me to speak, they didn’t look happy, they didn’t sound happy.
"He is mad that you marked me and now we are connected and he was on a call, I didn’t get to see his face, I don’t think he has an idea that I am the one that listened in on his conversation, he knows it’s someone and he is not happy about it, that guard is in still house Luca and I know his voice." I breathed out.
My eyes flickered with more tears when Luca pulls me closer to him, he signaled Ares to check on it, I could still hear the sounds of his footsteps, I could still hear his heavy breathing, if I closed my eyes I could imagine the fact that he is watching me; he knows that I am te one that saw him.
"He is going to know it’s me." I breathed out.
"I would damned if any wolf tries to come close to you, you are mine Olivia, no one is allowed to even think about coming close to you, no one is allowed to even think about touching you, or even think about causing you any harm." He said and I nodded.
I trusted his every word, no one can touch me yet it scared me, he was not there been it happened, he was not there when he seemed for me when I ran into another room, I have never been that scared before.
I never thought I would be in that position.
"I need water, Luca." I breathed out, I felt my anxiety slipping in, I felt like I was about to lose myself, I felt like I didn’t have any control over my emotions and I felt like my heart stopped beating for a second.
I need to sit down, I need to calm down, I need to slow down the thoughts, I need to have a sense of what’s going on, I need to reload that he is not coming for me, Luca is here, Luca is going to protect me and he is going to make sure that I am fine.
"He will pay for what he has done, he will make up for making you scared," Luca promised, it scared me how he said it, it scared me that he meant every word and it scared me that he would do worse than what he did to Stanley.
This one would not be alive to watch what will happen to them.
"Can we sit here just for a while?" I asked and in a second he sat next to me; he held my hand softly and my eyes filled with more tears, he wrapped his hand and he pulled me closer to him.
I am meant to be strong, I promised myself I will be.
"No." Ares spoke and I looked up. "Maybe she- watch your words Ares, and do as I say:" Luca threatened.
He spoke to him that way because of me, I felt horrible.
"If she says someone may have seen her then I believe her, someone did and you will account for every guard in this house, one of them did it and you will find him, you will bring him to him, I don’t care if he has families they will learn to live without him." Luca threatened.
