Sydney Marin Chapter 66

Sydney’s POV: The cell closed. We got locked here. Mason and I. Alone with those scary skeletons. “It’s all because of you,” Mason complained, with his hands on the bar of the cell. The carriage moved forward slowly. “Don’t blame me. We got free transportation,” I said, looking at the outside view of hell. Hell’s not that bad. “Whatever. Nothing’s going to change now,”. He let out a sign and started gazing outside. My mind thought about my friends. I want to know what they are doing now. What will my mom be doing now? I know she will be angry about jumping into the portrait. But she will be in misery too. She lost me once. Now it’s twice. This time I can take care of myself. “Another soul. Is it dead or alive?” I heard a hoarse voice again. The same dead skeleton opened the cell. Am I getting out or did we reach the Queen’s castle? Instead, a girl was about to enter our cell. Phoebe. “How...how…phoebe...” Mason stammered as he slammed his back against the cell bar. “Wow, you are with Sydney? I didn’t see that coming,” Phoebe replied with a smirk on her face. “Get inside,” the hoarse voice ordered her and pushed her next to us. When the cell’s closed again, Iam locked with Phoebe and Mason. “How…how..” Mason stammered again. He’s speechless. “How did you find us? If you tried to kill me again, it will not happen,” I shouted at her while all she did was smile at both of us. “What?” I silently asked. “Nothing. I didn’t expect that my brother will help you. But I know this place more than he does. It’s pretty easy to find both of you. So, what’s your plan?” she calmly asked. But Mason is still not uttering a single word. “None of your concern,” I snapped. She turns towards her brother. “What’s your pan, brother?” she glared at him. “We are going to meet the Queen of hell. Iam going to get my life back and Sapphire’s going to get her aunt back. I left you on purpose. I want to save myself.” Mason blurted everything out. “I see, bro. Cool. You are such a...” she trialled off, searching for the right words. “Selfish brother in the entire world. Do you think I will leave you both to get whatever you want? I won’t.” Phoebe shouted without warning. Her hands were inside her pant pocket and came out with a knife. “Whoa, don’t you dare think of killing me?” I yelled and stood up in the cell while the carriage was moving. I almost hit my head on the top cell. “Yeah. I already thought of it,” she yelled as she brought the knife forward in my direction. “Stop it, Phoebe. We don’t even know how the Queen will respond to us. Drop the knife,” Mason shouted as he tried to grab her hands. It’s two against one. Mason is on my side. It’s a waste of time for her. “Get your hands off me. I know you will do anything to get your life back. But I didn’t think you will leave me. You betrayed me,” she screamed and the complete cell and carriage shook from our violent fight. “What’s going on? If you didn’t stop those screams, I will kill all of you,” the same hoarse voice boomed into our ears. “Two of us are already dead. What’s the use of killing again?” Phoebe growled and struggled when Mason tackled her down. I picked the knife when she dropped it. “What do you want? What do you desire?” I asked Phoebe, as she gave a blank stare. “Are you Lucifer? Why are you asking this question?” she said, sitting down, giving up on her wish to kill me. “Because I will help you, too. If you agree not to kill me. I don’t want any more problems. I can’t add any more stress.” I told her and, unexpectedly, she nodded her head. “I want my life back. If you can do that, I won’t bother you anymore. I swear on my dead body,” she promised sincerely. Mason approached me and whispered something. “Are you sure you want to help my sister? We do not know how to do it. It depends on the Queen. You can’t guarantee it,” “I know. I can’t add up any stress. I promised her now. Let’s see what happens.” “Fine. Don’t break the promise. She will be a psycho. I know you don’t want that,” he advised me. I can’t care about it now. For me, it’s one less problem. That’s enough. SOME DAYS LATER: PLACE: HELL - QUEEN’S CASTLE PRISON I can’t believe a week passed. But Iam still in the prison cell. I thought I could meet the Queen, the moment I reached the castle. But that’s how it happened. I got more to say and think. When Mason, Phoebe, and I reached the castle from the carriage, the skeletons took us straight to the prison. They locked us with other dead souls. I pleaded. I wanted to meet the Queen, but they never allowed me. I couldn’t do anything. I don’t even know how many days passed. No watch. No day and night. No time. Nothing at all. Now Iam alone in a cell. Mason and Phoebe are in the cell opposite to mine. I should have thought of escaping the cell, but I didn’t. Iam grieving. All I did was think about Lydia, my friends, Jacen and how bad am I in taking any decisions. The times passed away. But something new happened. I heard a familiar voice. A very familiar voice called my name. My name. Sydney. “Sydney, you are here? Oh, my god...you are really here,” a boy said as he unlocked the cell with the key. I looked up. “Noah,”
