Sydney Marin Chapter 70

Jacen’s POV: “But I think we should take a rest. We didn’t even sleep,” Amelia suggested the worst idea. “It’s going to be morning soon. We will not waste our time,” I told her while my mom was deeply lost in her thoughts. She must have figured something out. She always has a plan in hand. “We are leaving now. I know who we should approach,” she said and took the car key. Nina locked the door when everyone came out of the house. She’s going to take us to some witch who has a solution to solve this problem. I should have left the academy earlier. “Who are we going to meet?” Noah asked when we were all seated in the car. Nina started the engine. She’s much determined than any of us. “A hundred-year-old witch. She has all the portraits everywhere. She can even see the future. But requesting her to help us is difficult,” Nina replied as she drove off the car. “You can convince her, mom. I trust you.” I confidently spoke, and all she did was a nod. This search is going to end today. “We got more time until we reach the witch’s house. So, how’s the academy? Did you learn anything, boys?” Nina directed the question to us. Did I learn anything? “Yeah. We did. It was good. We are doing well,” Noah replied for both of us. We never concentrated on studies except for Sydney. She’s the one who never passes a day without reading. “What did you learn? If I can be specific, tell me about your classes. I know you hate to study. Can you pass this semester?” “Um...” I blinked and turned my head towards the window. What can I say? Is it important right now? Who cares whether I pass the test? “Jacen, Noah. Iam talking to you,” Nina raised her voice and Amelia giggled at the same time. “They didn’t. They still hate every period. Anyway, there’s no problem because we escaped from the academy at the time of the semester,” Amelia voluntarily blurted everything. “Seriously. If you keep on doing like this, you won’t be promoted to next year. Do you want that, boys?” “How can we read when we are in the middle of a bad situation? Saving the heir of the kingdom is more important than Semester, mom?” Noah told from behind her. “Oh, yeah. You are right. But if you didn’t pass the semester after saving Sydney, you need to face the consequences. Mark my words. I won’t go easy on you,” “We will, mom. We will study after finding Sydney and Killing Dorothy and even her daughter,” I spoke with irritation, without realizing what I have told. “Killing...What? Are you a murderer, Jacen? You don’t want to end up in jail, right? You already shot Pamela. At least, it’s for self-defence. But you will not do it again. I can’t let my son end up in jail.” She scolded. Iam getting more frustrated. When will we reach the witch’s house? “If I get a chance, I will kill her, mom. What she did was terrible. I don’t care if I end up in jail,” I stubbornly said, and Noah supportively spoke for me. “Jacen is right. You don’t know every single incident that happened in the Academy, mom. She deserves much worse than death.” “What? you both are acting stupid out of anger. I don’t want you to murder someone which will affect your future,” “I know. I don’t care, mom. I want my girlfriend back.” I let those words out without thinking. She’s not my girlfriend now. But anyway, I don’t want to say this to my mother. “Okay. You are having more stories to tell than I could expect. When did she become your girlfriend?” Nina asked, raising her eyebrow. She likes and cares for Sydney. That doesn’t mean she must be my girlfriend. “Iam sorry to say this but your both sons love Sydney. They are fighting for her silently.” Amelia simply told and made this conversation an awkward one. Right now, I want to kick Amelia out of this car. “What the heck?” Nina started. “I think we reached the house. This must be the witch’s house. Am I right?” Kassidy spoke, pointing her hands at an old building that could crumble and fall at any moment. “Right. We are here. Thank god, the light is still on in the building.” Nina gratefully told, and forgot about our awkward conversation. Soon, we took the stairs to the top floor. “Knock,” Kassidy whispered to Nina when my mom hesitated to knock on the door after reaching the last floor. One knock. Two knocks. After a few minutes, the door slowly opened, revealing a very old lady in a bright orange dress. She has a stick in her hand. Iam doubting how she can help us in this state. “Do I know you?” she muttered. “Yes. I visited you once, madam. I need your help. Can you please let us in?” my mom asked nervously. The old lady’s eyes wandered over all of us. “Okay. Get in,” There’s a large hall with a lot of things related to witches. Crystals, old spell books. But there’s no sign of portraits. “So, what can I do for you? You said you visited me once. Are you my long-distance relative?” she asked with a smile. “Umm... I visited you for help, Amanda. But Iam not your relative.” the old lady looked at my mom and her calm expression changed to anger. “I thought you are someone who wants to know me. I retired from my career. Iam not helping anyone,” she sternly said and motioned her hands to leave her house. “You retired from your job?”
