"What is he doing here?" Vicky asked when she saw me and Jimmy together in the hospital, "where are the kids?" she added, "where are Alex and Sandra?" Vicky asked almost furiously staring from Jimmy to me.
"Slow down, Vicky," Jimmy told her giving her a quick hug, "Alex and Sandra are alright," he added.
"Where are they? And do not tell me to slow down, Jimmy, I need to know where the kids are, my friend is lying like this in this hospital, thanks to this Jerk," Vicky told Jimmy pointing at me.
"Do not call him that, Vicky, it is not nice," Jimmy told her even though I took no offence at her comment, to me, she does not know the real truth so she is right to think that way.
"Do not scold me, Jimmy," she said, furrowing her brows at him, "whose side are you on anyway," she said again staring from me to Jimmy, "Do not tell me you are on his side, after what he has made my friend go through, " Vicky told Jimmy shaking her head and glaring at me, looking at her now I think she must hate me too as much as her friend does.
"Calm down, Vicky, if you are like this, how do you expect Kim to react, we need to calm the situation down, we will not achieve anything by fighting," Jimmy told her.
"By the way how is Kim? Haven't she woken up yet?" Jimmy asked, trying to change the topic I guess.
"No, she has not woken up yet," she replied looking at him.
"What did the doctor say is wrong with her?" I asked walking closer to Kimberly's bed.
"Excuse me, do not pretend as you care now," Vicky told me stretching forth her hand to try and stop me from going any further to Kimberley's bed.
"Look, I came here to see Kimberly, I do not mean any harm," I told her looking at Jimmy, gesturing for him to help me out here.
"Do not look at Jimmy, I am talking to you, you are the reason for her current state, how come you are concerned all of a sudden?" Vicky asked, coming to stand in front of me and preventing me from going further, "why do you have to bring him here in the first place?" she asked again glancing at Jimmy.
"I came here to see how she is doing, Miss Vicky," I replied in place of Jimmy, "as I said, I do not mean any harm," I told her again calmly.
"It is alright then, you have seen how she is doing right now so I think it's time you leave, your presence is not needed here," Vicky told me pointing towards the door, gesturing for me to leave.
"I am sorry Miss Vicky, I am not going to leave just yet..." I told her.
"And why is that? What business do you have here, have you not done enough?" She asked simultaneously interrupting me and without letting me reply to her questions, she continued.
"You have done enough harm to my friend already and I can't stand it anymore, count yourself lucky that I am not in her shoes, else you and that fiancée of yours would have gotten it the hard way from me..."
"Hold on Missing Vicky, you are mistaken about me..., it is not what you think..." I said interrupting her too, but she cuts in again.
"It's not what I think?" She asked glaring at me.
"Yes, and I am here to explain..." I told her, glancing at Jimmy, I wonder why he is quiet.
"I do not want to listen to your explanation, Mr Kyle, I thought before that it will be favourable for my friend if she let you into her life, but now, I know that my thinking was wrong, you are not good for her and her kids, so want you to leave her life and never come back, do not show your face again to her and her kids," Vicky told me in an angry tone, her brows furrowed at me.
I stared at her feeling speechless at the moment, but I have just discovered one thing though, I now know for sure that Kimberly is not married, for her friend Vicky to have nursed the idea of Kimberly letting me into her life, I turned to look at Jimmy who stood aside and saying nothing as if to ask for help from him.
"Please calm down darling," Jimmy said coming to stand beside Vicky placing his arm around her shoulder.
"Stop it, Jimmy, what has come over you? You were as angry as I am right now when you went to this Jerks house to get Alex and Sandra, what happened to you?" She asked Jimmy furiously not minding that we are in a hospital and in her friend's ward.
"Please do not let him deceive you, now that we have Alex and Sandra back, we should not let him any where close to them again," Vicky told me, giving me a furious stare.
"Listen Vicky..." Jimmy said but Vicky stopped him by lifting her hands to his mouth.
"Do not let him deceive you, Jimmy," she told him, "and you, Mr Kyle, I do not want to know what you have told my Jimmy to make him bring you here, I will advise you to leave now because you are not welcomed here, my friend Kim will not accept you, she has hated you for so long now and you have even made matters worse by letting your fiancée get involved with her kids, so go and let she and her kids live in peace," Vicky said to me.
"Hold on a minute," I told her, lifting my hand to her, "I think you do not understand, Alex and Sandra are still in my house..."
"What? What did you just say?" She asked looking from me to Jimmy as if to confirm what I just told her.
"Is he saying the truth?" She asked Jimmy.
"I am afraid, he is telling the truth," Jimmy replied with a nod.
"No, that can't be, did you not inform the police again?" Vicky asked sounding a little husky.
"I did, Vicky, but I was told to ...resolve it with them myself..." Jimmy told her rather slowly shrugging his shoulders a little, I think he is being hesitant in telling her what happened.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked him sounding confused and still in that husky tone.
"He was arrested by the police, Vicky," I told her, feeling the need to tell her everything that happened.
"What, why?" She asked staring at him.
"Yes, darling, the police arrested me, his dad called the police to arrest me," Jimmy explained to her everything that happened instead.
"Oh, no!" Vicky exclaimed, covering her lips with her palm.
"But Mr Kyle here, is the one who got me released," Jimmy continued and then told her the remaining part of the story.
"So you mean, your parents want Kimberly to come to your house?" Vicky asked, "and you think that is a good idea?" She added, staring at me.
"My hands are tied, for now, Miss Vicky and I know test results are going to come out positive, so I think Kimberly should come and stay in my house with the kids before I can come up with a plan," I told her.
"And what plan is that?" Vicky asked still staring at me, "do not tell me you intend to run away with my friend," she added.
"You and I know that Kimberly and the kids cannot live in their house anymore because my parents and Sonia will not let them either, unless you have a better suggestion. " I told her.
"Let's wait until Kimberly wakes up, she will be the one to decide on this matter, there is no need to fight about this," Jimmy said to us.
"If there is one thing I know bout my friend, it's the fact that she will not agree easily to all of this, and even if she agrees to go to your house, it will be because of her kids, but running away with you, I will not bet on that," Vicky told me.
I looked from her to Kimberly, who is lying on the bed like she is only taking a nap and wondered how I am going to convince her to run away with me because that is exactly what I intend to do.
"How long had she been like this?" I asked without looking at Vicky or Jimmy, my eyes just stayed fixed on her.
"She has been like this since we brought her here," Vicky replied.
"How did she come to be like this?" I asked again, my eyes still fixed on Kimberly.
"We met her outside her house, where she was on the ground crying because her kids were taken from her, when suddenly she passed out," Jimmy told me.
"And she has been like this since then?" I asked no one in particular.
"My friend is in shock, at least that is what the doctor says, and that is because of your good for nothing Fiancée," Vicky said angrily pointing at me, "I only hope that Kim wakes up normal again, and soon too, I am tired of seeing her like this." She added.
"Do not worry, darling, Kim will be alright," Jimmy told Vicky putting his arm around her shoulders again, I hope Jimmy is right, even I am saddened to see her like this.
"Who is with Alex-Sandra right now?" Vicky asked after a while turning to face me again.
"I think my Mum is with them," I replied, glancing at her and then looking at Kimberly again.
"You think?" Vicky asked, "Look, Mr Kyle, those kids cannot sleep without someone talking them in and staying with them until they are fast asleep, also, they like to play with toys a lot, I am sure they will be whining by now already especially since their mum is not there with them, I wonder how they are going to cope staying at your place," Vicky told me, "And your family too, I wonder how you are going to cope as well because those kids create so much mess when they play," Vicky added, sounding like she wanted a reason for me to send them back to Kimberly as if it is within my power to do so.
"Miss Vicky, it is not within my power to bring Alex and Sandra back to Kimberly, I already tried," I told her, "and besides, we have servants who can take care of whatever mess Alex and Sandra may create, my parents have been going crazy looking for a means to have grandchildren so things like mess created by Alex and Sandra can't be the way of keeping them, that is why they are hooking me and Sonia up in the first place," I added, rather casually.
"What did you say?" Vicky asked sounding serious.
"What?" I asked wondering why she sounded like that.
"Did you just say your parents are the ones setting you and Sonia up for marriage?" She asked again, looking into my face.
"Yes, Miss Vicky, the truth is I do not want to marry Sonia, I do not love her," I replied glancing at her and then back at Kimberly.
"She is the woman I love," I said my eyes fixed on Kimberly.
"The woman you love?" Vicky asked again, I can imagine her surprise, "I know that so many people think I am in love with Sonia because of what they have been told abs what they must have seen, but it is far from the truth,"
"Why then did you do what you did to Kimberly if she is the woman you love? Or are you saying this because of Alex-Sandra?" Vicky asked, the same question Jimmy had asked me, and they are not wrong to think like that, I probably would have thought the same way if I were in their place.
"No, Miss Vicky, everything that has happened is all a misunderstanding and complicated as well, I hope I will be given the chance to correct my mistakes," I told her.
"It is getting late, Mr Kyle, I think you should go back home now because of Alex-Sandra," Jimmy told me after a while of silence, and he is right about that.
"I will go now, please look after her," I told them.
"You don't need to say that, she is my friend," Vicky told me immediately, "I should be saying that to you instead, make sure Alex-Sandra is alright," she added.
"They are my kids and I will not let any harm come to them," I replied her almost immediately, "this is my card, please call me when she wakes up," I said giving my card to Jimmy, "as for the kids, do not worry about them, I will make sure that they are alright," I told them and left the ward after holding Kimberly's hand briefly.
I do not want them to see how weak I am after holding her hand, I wish I could hold her hand like that even when she is awake...
