Chapter 539: Chapter 539: Can’t Find the Antidote
Gu Siyu voiced the guess that had been lingering in Shen Heyu’s heart. If the person secretly assisting her in the divorce from Lu Yi wasn’t Gu Siyu, then it was very likely that it was none other than Pei Yansi. But, the crucial point was that she hadn’t received any news from Pei Yansi since she picked up the divorce certificate.
Shen Heyu took out her phone to call Pei Yansi, but oddly, the call didn’t go through. She quickly packed up her things, ready to rush out, when Gu Siyu stopped her.
“Are you going to find Pei Yansi?” he asked.
Shen Heyu nodded. She needed to ask him about this matter in person. If it was indeed Pei Yansi, then she owed him a favor. But now, the situation was more complicated; it might involve more than just a favor.
“You also tried calling Pei Yansi just now, and his phone was unreachable. Maybe he’s dealing with something very important now. It’s better to wait for him to come to you. If he really did solve this matter, he will definitely seek you out,” advised Gu Siyu.
What Gu Siyu said made sense, and Shen Heyu acknowledged with a nod. As she turned around, she saw Lu Yi collapsed on the ground, unconscious, and she frowned.
“When will he wake up?”
“It should also take an hour or two, but he brought this upon himself. You don’t have to worry about it.”
Despite everything Lu Yi had done and said to her, Shen Heyu wasn’t concerned about him. Instead, she remembered something of utmost importance.
“Lu Yi has the antidote that Yuexue needs. I wonder where he might have hidden it.” Shen Heyu looked up at Gu Siyu with an idea forming in her mind. After they exchanged a look, Gu Siyu guessed her thoughts.
“Lu Yi has suffered a head injury. It’ll take at least an hour or two before he wakes up. During this time, we can search around to see if we can find the antidote you need.”
“Okay, let’s split up and look.”
After exchanging glances, Shen Heyu and Gu Siyu quickly headed upstairs, Shen Heyu to Lu Yi’s bedroom, and Gu Siyu to his study. They each began their search for the antidote.
But after an hour or two, having searched the entire house, they hadn’t found it. The antidote was too small and difficult to find. Worried that Lu Yi could wake up at any moment, Shen Heyu had no choice but to head downstairs, where she would face Lu Yi.
“What should we do? We didn’t find the antidote.”
“Could it be on his person?” Gu Siyu’s eyes fell on Lu Yi, who was sprawled on the ground.
“Let’s search and see.”
Gu Siyu knelt down and searched Lu Yi three times but didn’t find the antidote. He looked up at Shen Heyu and shook his head in regret.
The target was too small, and who knew where he could have hidden it? Shen Heyu sighed heavily. What now?
“Don’t lose hope,” Gu Siyu said. “Yuexue still has a week before the poison takes effect. My senior from Beautiful Country will be coming over in the next two days. Give her three days, and she might be able to produce the antidote.”
Gu Siyu’s words weren’t certain. Yuexue’s life was at stake, and Shen Heyu couldn’t take any risks. Although Gu Siyu’s words offered her a bit of comfort, her gaze remained fixed on the unconscious Lu Yi.
As Shen Heyu was silent, Gu Siyu’s phone vibrated. He happily answered the international call, conversing in English with the person on the other end.
With her head bowed, Shen Heyu pondered the solution to the problem. Now that her marriage to Lu Yi was annulled, getting the antidote from him would be as difficult as reaching the sky. The only path left was to obtain the antidote from Chen Wenzhou’s hands.
But to do that, she would need to get Pei Yansi to agree to marry Chen Lingmeng quickly. If Pei Yansi knew his daughter’s life was threatened, he might be willing to play along with this act.
Thinking of this, Gu Siyu ended the call and approached Shen Heyu with joy, his hands gripping her shoulders.
Shen Heyu was startled by his sudden move and looked up at Gu Siyu, who was beaming with joy.
“Heyu, I have great news. My senior is already in the country. She heard about Yuexue’s situation and decided to put aside her lab work to come here. With more time, she can focus on making the antidote.”
Shen Heyu sensed Gu Siyu’s joy. She was a bit surprised; after all, this matter was unrelated to him—he was just Yuexue’s attending physician. But now, he had gone out of his way to call his senior out of retirement, exceeding what was expected of him.
Shen Heyu looked at Gu Siyu gratefully and nodded, “Thank you.”
“If you truly want to thank me, then rest well during this time. Look at how terrible you look. If Yuexue sees you , she’ll worry too.”
“Lu Yi is about to wake up. Let’s leave this place. If he wakes up and sees us here, he’ll surely trouble you. Now that you two have your divorce certificate and have ended this marriage in name only, you have no reason to stay.”
Indeed, Shen Heyu had no reason to stay, nor did she want to. She took one last look at the villa she had lived in for a while, but she felt no sadness. Leaving it behind, she felt as though she had escaped from a cage, liberated.
“Let’s go then, before he wakes up and complicates things.” Lu Yi was beyond reasoning now. If he woke up, he would surely cause a scene, so Shen Heyu chose to stay away from this big trouble and left with Gu Siyu.

But how could he possibly leave such an important item here, within Shen Heyu’s living environment? Naturally, it was in his company’s safe, well beyond Shen Heyu’s reach.
However, another headache was that his marriage to Shen Heyu was dissolved. Taking out his phone, he called Chen Wenzhou.
