“If you want to go file a complaint, then go ahead, this is a hospital, and the patient needs rest, and cannot tolerate your nonsense. If you make a scene again, I’ll call security right now to throw you out.”
Gu Siyu wasn’t afraid of Lu Yi’s threats at all; seeing that his tactics had no effect on him, Lu Yi’s face turned red with anger, and he raised his hand to point at Gu Siyu’s nose, his finger almost poking Gu Siyu in the face.
“Fine, have it your way; you’re not afraid of complaints, right? I’ll complain to your supervisors, no, to the hospital director. And let me tell you, the little girl lying on the sickbed is my daughter. What right do you have to interfere with me? Look at what you amount to.”
“Since you insist on being unreasonable, then I have no choice; I’ve already called security to ask you to leave.” Gu Siyu calmly looked at the crazed Lu Yi, took out his phone to make a call, and Lu Yi slapped the phone out of his hand.
With a smack, Shen Heyu was startled, she raised her hand to cover her mouth, and looked down to see the screen of the phone shattered on the floor.
“This is destruction of property for no reason; I could call the police to arrest you.”
“Destroyed your property, so what? I don’t just want to smash your phone; I want to hit you too.” Lu Yi said, balling his fist, and moved to pounce on Gu Siyu. Just as his fist was about to hit Gu Siyu’s face, Shen Heyu shouted.
“Enough!” Shen Heyu loudly stopped Lu Yi, she stepped forward, blocking Gu Siyu, and she had to look up to see the expression on Lu Yi’s face clearly due to their height difference.
Lu Yi was like a man possessed, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, ready to destroy himself and others at the slightest touch.
Shen Heyu slowly closed her eyes; she couldn’t believe that the man in front of her was Lu Yi, the old Lu Yi who gently stroked stray cats by the roadside.
But now, the Lu Yi in front of her had lost that gentle look in his eyes, replaced with a violent temper.
“Do you realize what position you’re in? You were dragging and pulling with Pei Yansi in front of me, and now you’re doing the same with some other man. Do you even care about my feelings? Shen Heyu, don’t forget we’re still legally married.”
“Lu Yi, enough, this is our personal matter; let’s not involve more people, okay? Please leave now. Yuexue just fell asleep – I don’t want anyone disturbing her.” Shen Heyu spread her arms wide, firmly blocking Lu Yi.
Lu Yi’s gaze fixed on Gu Siyu before falling on Shen Heyu’s delicate face, pale as if washed with water.
“You don’t want others to disturb your affair with this man, do you? I saw it with my own eyes just now; the two of you embraced right here in the hospital, in front of Yuexue’s bed. Didn’t you think about whether you would disturb Yuexue then?”
Shen Heyu, unable to bear it any longer, raised her hand and slapped Lu Yi across the face, stunning him so much that it took him a long while to come to his senses. Eventually, he turned his head slowly, his eyes wide with disbelief, and stared at Shen Heyu.
“Shen Heyu, you slapped me? I never thought you would hit me for another man.” Lu Yi turned his head furiously, his eyes bulging like bells, as he raised his hand to slap Shen Heyu.
Shen Heyu looked up fearlessly, her gaze firm. “Yes, I slapped you because what you said and did was too much. You’ve been like a madman lately, as if you’ve become a different person. You’ve been resenting me all this time, haven’t you? Because you feel like you’ve given so much to me wholeheartedly, but I haven’t accepted you. All I can say is, you brought this upon yourself.”
“If you hadn’t joined forces with Chen Wenzhou and done those outrageous things, maybe we could have had a good ending. But you’ve ruined everything, so instead of resenting me, you might want to reflect on your own problems. After today, there’s no chance for us anymore.”
Shen Heyu’s words were like a sharp sword through Lu Yi’s heart; he suddenly felt an agonizing pain and slowly lowered his raised hand, even stepping back unsteadily.
He was confused for a moment, but soon regained his composure, staring blankly at Shen Heyu with a fierce gaze, as if he wanted to swallow her whole.
“No! The one who did wrong isn’t me, but you. If you had cut ties with Pei Yan after leaving him, if you hadn’t pushed me to this point, why would I have chosen to team up with Chen Wenzhou, why would I have done these things? It’s all your fault.”
“Just take today, for instance. You kept up ties with Pei Yan in front of me, and now, you’re embracing some unknown young doctor in the hospital. Did you think about how I would feel seeing all this? No, you didn’t care at all because I was never in your heart.”
“Do you really think everything you saw is true? We didn’t embrace in the hospital; it’s useless to explain further at this point. We don’t need to go through futile explanations.”
Shen Heyu was thoroughly disappointed with Lu Yi, disappointed to the point that she didn’t even want to speak another word to him. All she wanted was for Lu Yi to leave the hospital quickly and stop disturbing Yuexue.
“I’m asking you now, Yuexue has been really suffering lately, and she just fell asleep. I don’t want anyone to disturb her, so please, leave now.”
Lu Yi suddenly laughed hysterically. He glanced at Yuexue lying in the hospital bed, then looked back at Shen Heyu’s resolute expression and eventually spoke with difficulty.
“It’s okay, even if you send me away now, what will it matter? In the end, you still need the antidote I have. I’ll wait for you to come back to me; I believe you won’t make me wait long.”
