“Shen Heyu, do you even know what you’re saying?” Pei Yansi couldn’t believe what he was seeing, and even less so believe that the words had come from Shen Heyu’s mouth. He raised his hand and tightly gripped Shen Heyu’s shoulders, shaking her lightly.
Shen Heyu was well aware of what she was saying; she said those words just to make Pei Yansi give up, to make him stop pestering her in the future.
“Since when did President Pei’s comprehension become so poor? I’ve made myself very clear, can you still not understand? My meaning is obvious, that is, Lu Yi and I have already registered our marriage, we are now lawfully wedded husband and wife. Moreover, you will soon be marrying the young Miss of the Chen Family; from now on, we should draw a clear line between us.”
Shen Heyu forcefully shook off the hand Pei Yansi had on her shoulder and coldly stepped back, but Pei Yansi, in disbelief, twisted his own mouth as if he wanted to laugh, yet couldn’t manage it.

Even though Pei Yansi had clearly understood her words, he still couldn’t believe that Shen Heyu would sleep with a man she didn’t like.
Shen Heyu took a deep breath—she had no idea when Lu Yi might arrive. If he saw Pei Yansi here, he’d surely lose his mind. What if he threatened her with the antidote issue? What then?

Shen Heyu raised her hand to push Pei Yansi out of her room, worried that Lu Yi might arrive any second. If Lu Yi saw Pei Yansi, who knew how he might explode.
But Pei Yansi stood like a mountain at the door, and with all her strength, Shen Heyu couldn’t push him out.
“Shen Heyu, leave this place with me now. I know you’re not willingly sleeping with Lu Yi; I will not stand by and watch you jump into the fire pit. You will definitely regret it later.”
Pei Yansi grabbed Shen Heyu’s hand, intending to take her away, but Shen Heyu bit her teeth and refused to go.
“You’re not me; how do you know I didn’t come here willingly? Let me tell you, if I didn’t want to be here, nobody could force me. Coming here today was my own choice. And what’s more, why can’t I go to a hotel with Lu Yi? We are, after all, legally married—it’s none of your business what we do.”
Shen Heyu struggled hard, but she couldn’t shake off Pei Yansi’s hand. In a burst of anger, Shen Heyu bit down on Pei Yansi’s wrist fiercely. She could taste blood in her mouth, yet even so, Pei Yansi did not let go of her hand.
Shen Heyu really did bite through the skin and tasted the metallic tang of blood in her mouth, yet Pei Yansi still didn’t let go. Tears welled up in Shen Heyu’s eyes as she took a deep breath and gradually released her teeth.
“Pei Yansi, how many times do I have to tell you before you understand what I’m saying, before you’re willing to let me go? I really like my life becoming peaceful again, I don’t want it to change, nor do I want to go back to the way things were with you. Please let go of me now and leave immediately. Stop appearing in front of me.”
Tears filled Shen Heyu’s eyes, and a trace of fresh blood stained her lips—blood she had tasted when biting through Pei Yansi’s hand. Pei Yansi slowly raised a hand and gently wiped the blood from her mouth.
“No matter how many times you say it, I will never believe your words. Shen Heyu, don’t forget that we lived together for three years. I know you better than anyone. You definitely didn’t come here willingly. Tell me, what did Lu Yi do to force you to come here?”
Pei Yansi knew Shen Heyu very well; he guessed that she had come here out of necessity. Yet when Shen Heyu felt the tender gesture of him wiping the blood from her lips, she just clenched her teeth and lowered her head, not daring to meet Pei Yansi’s gaze.
“People change, don’t you know that? You know me from the past three years, but I never showed you the real me when I was by your side. You never truly knew me. So why are you so confident, thinking that I came here today because of Lu Yi’s coercion rather than my own will?”
“If you came here of your own volition, you wouldn’t have looked so terrified when you saw me arrive. Shen Heyu, I could see in your eyes that you were definitely coerced. Please, stop hiding it from me. Tell me the truth—what did Lu Yi do?”
Pei Yansi pressed for answers, noticing that Shen Heyu had been living repressed and had bitten his wrist with such force as a way to vent the suppressed emotions within her.
As she held onto his wrist, Pei Yansi didn’t shake her off, just silently endured her inner pain alongside Shen Heyu. In that moment, Pei Yansi felt as if his heart were being crushed into a knot, and the pain was so intense he could hardly breathe.
Hearing Pei Yansi’s words, Shen Heyu’s heart, which had been feigning strength, softened at that moment. She tried to curve her mouth into a smile, but no smile came.
“Do you not see how ridiculous you are, Pei Yansi? Clearly you know nothing, you don’t understand me, yet here you are pretending to know me so well. I can’t stand seeing you this way. No matter if you ask me once or a hundred times, my answer won’t change; I came here willingly today.”
Shen Heyu spoke with her head down, her peripheral vision catching sight of Pei Yansi’s wrist; her bite had broken his skin, leaving a clear mark, from which blood continued to seep.
“You still won’t tell me the truth. If what you’re saying is true, then why can’t you raise your head and look into my eyes? What are you hiding?”
Upon hearing his words, Shen Heyu had no choice but to muster her strength and slowly lift her head to meet Pei Yansi’s eyes, saying word by word, “I’ll say it one last time—it was my own choice to come here today. Stop speculating and please leave now.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Pei Yansi kissed her, his lips scalding hot with fervor.
