Author's POV
At midnight, when Angela was resting on the couch. Eric finally opened his eyes with headache and body pain. At first, his vision was blurred but after adjusting to the dim lighting. He glanced at the surroundings with a strange gaze to guess he was in the hospital and lying on the bed, covered with some machine while he got an oxygen mask on for breathing.
Within a time, he recalled his accident by hitting the truck, and soon he remembered, for whom, he went on the middle road and was hit by the truck. Only to let himself horrific next later.
'Angela!'
As soon as he shouted her name inside his brain, his whole body turned anxious while his half-open eyes widened to remember her, and felt panic later.
"Angela!" This time he let out her name while the oxygen mask was still on it.
He turned desperate to know if she was fine or not and for that he tried to move from the bed but soon he realized, his legs and hands were fractured while his head started to sharply hurt. He can't move from his bed at all and this realization hit him more.
He closed his eyes and felt too weak at this moment but soon his ears captured a breathing sound that came from somewhere.
His body couldn't move but his eyes could. So, he followed the breathing sound through his ears and turned his head in the left direction only to find Angela's figure sleeping on the couch while sitting there resting her head on the edge of the couch.
"Angela…" He felt a big relief to see her safe and sound. His eyes turned red while a big teardrop fell out from both corners of his eyes.
'Eric, I hate you! God will punish you!'
'I'll never forgive you! You are a monster.'
'Please let me go, Eric!'
Her every word started to appear in his mind one by one. From the beginning to the end of the accident. All she wanted was to leave him. She doesn't want him and this realization demolished his heart.
He regretted making this situation worse for her. When she first confessed to him she wanted to leave him, he should just accept his faith and let her go but no he can't accept her leaving him like this. He wanted to explain his side but Angela told him the truth, he is late to explain anymore. There is nothing left for both of them. Everything is already destroyed.
He still freshly remembered how the truck was ready to hit her any second, and he felt completely numb to see that scenario and his body automatically ran to save her without caring about himself. All his mind wanted to push her and save her, that's it! He can die for her but can't let her get injured because of his own selfish love anyway.
He never thought locking her made her feel worse that she's ready to run without caring about her own life.
What if he didn't come on time? What if she's in this bed. No. He can't forgive himself. His love is not so selfish that he will make her stay with him when she stops caring about her death to go far from him.
What could be worse than this? So, if she will stay safe far from him. Then he is now ready to accept this cruel reality and ready to accept her hate for him. He will not go to bind her anymore to be with him. He will let her go. He will let go of his love for her which made him do such cruel things to her.
Now no one is going to be upset because of him. Now no one will punish more. He will make everything again simple for her. He will not make things hard for her and finally gave her the freedom that she deserves. The love she wanted to find. Because he is not the person she wanted. And he now understands he doesn't deserve to be with her after what he did to her.
After hurting her, he can't ask her to love him. After lying for a long time about his identity he can't ask her to accept his real identity. This is a cruel choice to make her phase it. But now, he promised he will make everything good for her and he will give her what she wants.
Yeah, it's hard, it's too hard to let go of the love you always want. It's hard to accept the bitter truth. It's hard to breathe even without her and collecting your broken heart pieces without shedding a drop of tears. But he is ready to do that for her and the love he has for her.
He wanted to tell her, he is not a bad person and he is sorry for everything. But he knew she would not listen to him and he can't watch her hateful gaze again. Choosing this decision already takes everything from him and now he will not change his mind.
His eyes filled with pain as he stares at Angela's sleeping face with tears in his eyes. He knows this is the only night left for him to watch her peaceful face as he doesn't know, seeing him awake, how will she react? Will she even stay beside him anymore?
He stared at her the whole night without even moving his gaze from her. While Angela, without realizing he was awakeness, slept with tiredness.
In the early morning, when Angela finally opened her eyes after sleeping, her eyes went to Eric. He was as usual closing his eyes. Her eyes filled with sadness but she get off the couch and went toward his bed only to watch him with a soft gaze for a long minute before turning back to leave the room silently and closing the door behind her.
As soon as he realized she left the room, he opened his red puffy eyes again. He didn't sleep at all, while all he did was look at her. Until she started moving to wake up.
He looked at the white ceiling with empty eyes, as he felt his life stop moving from now on.
