Title: Anna is back.
We arrived at the airport the next day in mid afternoon. It took us 17½ hours to arrive and i was very tired. Thank goodness that the drive home was quicker than i imagined.
Being home felt homely, i instantly agreed to the saying that there was no place like home. But it doesn't mean that i didn't quite enjoy my stay at UAE.
I had a thorough bath before putting warm dress to bed. Once my body crashes on the bed, my eyelids closed up leading me into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up with a slight knock at door. I rolled to the other side of the bed shutting my eyes . I needed not to be disturbed.
"Madam. Mrs Adams calls you downstairs this minute." That was Miriam, the cook. "Is it my food?"
The door slowly creaked open and i snapped my eyes open. "Yes, it is." She replies and i almost eased out. "Leave mine downstairs. I'll come down later." I told her and she left, closing the door behind.
I rubbed my eyes and slowly drift back to sleep.
It was 2:30am when i crept out of the room quietly not to wake Rowan. I was famished. I stepped into the dinning, and found a plate perfectly covered on the table. I opened it and noticed how cold it was, i sat down and took a banana from a bowl. Soon enough, the four bananas had been eaten by me.
I walked into the kitchen to make coffee for myself cos I felt the need to take one.
I opened the door to my room and got in, closing the door behind quietly. I sat in front of my study table and tried to revise my book. I was up revising and researching through the lessons i had missed these period of time.
My lecturers were beginning to complain of the lack of interest in my books. Mr Brian had once called me after class. He was complaining that my grades were dropping which was totally my fault. I had missed classes and I wouldn't want to fail, i wanted to pass out because i labored for it.
Isla has once asked me what use it was to continue school. She felt i didn't need the grades anymore because my husband was rich enough to buy my cert. I had to shuu her and explain later that i had really suffered for it and i will finish it to the end by all means. I was determined.
At 4:02am, i had myself dragged into the kitchen to make breakfast for Rowan, as he might be leaving very early for work. I thought of what to make for breakfast and smiled when i remembered one uncommon dish for breakfast on weekends, but they would love it anyway.
The dish's name is called caramel apple french toast casserole. I checked the kitchen cupboard for recipe and found out that i needed to go to the grocery shop today. I sighed and sat looking angry. If i wanted to prepare this dish, i would have to prepare recipes for it. I can't just wake up one day and decides to make casserole. I decided to make 20minutes breakfast of scrambled eggs and hot coffee. I left the kitchen to my room, took a book and started reading. This is the price i had to pay for sleeping early and waking before day break.
Once it's 5:45, i dropped the book and ran downstairs to make breakfast. Before 7:02, i was done with breakfast Quesadillas with scrambled eggs. I turned to wash the dishes when i heard footsteps approaching the kitchen. I knew right away that it was Miriam but was surprised to see Mrs Adam in her nightwear. She stood by the door and looked at me as if she had seen a ghost. "Aubrey child"
"Good morning, mummy" I greeted with a smile. She looked at the kitchen counter and was taken surprised by what she saw. Breakfast served on a large tray.
"Did you make breakfast?"
"I couldn't sleep throughout so i made breakfast for everyone"
"It smells nice. I didn't know you could cook." I scoffed. Is she serious?. "Let me have a taste"
I dish out scrambled eggs on a ceramic bowl and gave it to her. She took a spoon into her mouth and chewed silently. "Wow. You're really good" I blushed. "It's no big deal. Come on, let me get it served."
I carried the plate walking towards the door but stopped when Miriam came in looking all surprised. I didn't give her a chance to talk as I pleaded with her to clear the dishes.
I served Rowan's food and looked up when i saw him coming down with his brief case. "Good morning" I greeted with all smile. I was eager to serve him his food. "Baby. You're here already. Too bad I'm late for work."
"Aubrey stayed up making breakfast for us. It's really good, try some." His mom said coming into the dinning.
He was surprised. "Okay. I'll eat " I smiled as he sat down. I opened the plate and the smell of scrambled eggs filled the dinning. "That smelt really nice, huh"
He took a spoon, dipped into the dish and looked at me. "What?"
"Nothing " He took a spoonful into his mouth and began chewing noisily. "Hu..mmm," He beamed. "My wife cooks the best." I smiled and sat down with my meal. "You can say that again" I said, proud at myself for doing such a great job.
He finished his meal and stood up, "Thanks Riry. I have to run off now. I have a client waiting at the office and I'll see you when i get back." He pressed his lips over my forehead and walked away quickly.
"He likes my food" I said happily.
"Yes, he does." Mrs Adam said. " You two are getting along well"
I smiled shyly and ran upstairs to prepare for school.
~Rowan's POV~
I walked hastily into my office and was greeted by my secretary.
"Where's she?" I questioned.
"Inside your office." She replied and I nodded.
I walked into the office.
"I'm very sorry to kept you waiting."
I said and the lady turned and my eyes met the only person i dreaded on seeing in life.
"Anna." I roared. My eyes looking disgustily at her. She shivered when i roared her name and the minute i took a step closer, she stepped back in fear.
"Ba..by"
She stutters and stood up immediately.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" She shuddered. She look at the little boy i hadn't noticed earlier.
"Tyler?"
She called out to a little boy. She's ignorimg me?.
The boy trembled under my gaze.
"Yes , mom."
I look back at her and then her son.
"Meet your father"
"What?"
