CHAPTER THIRTY SIX 36
OFF TO THE AIRPORT, MAYBE
At the regular early time, CEO Finn walked into the company early the following morning. He crossed path with Adam at the reception; he's very punctual to work too.
Adam murmured his greetings to Finn whom signaled him to come with him to his office.
“Rita is not at work” Finn uttered as he paced to his counter.
“Yes, she’s not. You accepted her request for an absent leave, didn't you?” Adam said, sitting comfortably while Finn was perturbed.
“I did. But why did Rita request for a break?” Finn inquired.
“She didn't inform you?”
“No, she didn't. She said it was private. Uhm, you both are friends, you should know. Why did Rita request for a leave of absence?” Finn asked again.
“She’s visiting her boyfriend, Zane” Adam notified him.
“What?” Finn exclaimed. “Do you think I will let her go visit her boyfriend if she had told me?” He freaked out.
“Of course not because you are literally her boyfriend’s rival, why would she let you know that she has gone to spend two weeks with boyfriend in Canada"
“Shit!” He groaned: “When is her flight?”
“She should leave today, that makes it a complete two weeks absent leave”
“Darn it! Oh my God! Darn it! Darn it!” He screamed and rushed to his desk to pick up his phone
“Is there anything you can do about it now?” Adam asked.
“I’ll call her right away and I hope she hasn't gotten to the airport yet” He picked up his phone, his hands twitched as he couldn't concentrate, he couldn't even think straight.
“I shouldn't have told you that she went to see her boyfriend, Rita already told you it was private. Now it's more like I'm supporting you because now you won't let her go see her real boyfriend” Adam said and Finn shot him a hard stare, Adam did the same and smirked.
“Goodluck, gotta take my leave now” Adam stood up to leave.
“I’m in no mood to entertain any visitor until Rita returns. Please tell the receptionist to keep every client waiting at the reception till I inform her to let them come in” Finn said, dailing Rita’s number again but it was unreachable. He panicked.

Rita’s POV
I did my skincare with soft make over.
I wore a bodycon gown which revealed my elegant body shape, my cleavage was exposed too but I covered up with a thick fur leather coat because of the different weather over there but of course, I will pull everything off once I am with Zane.
I intended to leave home before 9am and stay at the airport till my flight time. I ensured I have already taken all required documents, most especially my international passport, and my ticket.
I was not expecting a call from anyone not even Zane because the only chance we have arranged to be in touch with each other was later at night but I'll be on plane this night which means we won't communicate and he will feel bad about it but it is worth it afterall.
My phone suddenly buzzled; I looked at the screen, it was Finn.
“Hello Finn” I spoke into the phone haven picked it up and swiped to the receiver.
“Hello Rita” He said. “I.. I know you are observing your break but this is so urgent, can you rush down to the company right away?” He asked..
“Huh! What?! “I squeaked.
“Are you at home?”
“Yeah.. I.. I am..at..at home” I stuttered.
“Oh good, good. I am not supposed to offer you a break during this workload period. Your absence today has just dawned upon me that we’ve got only few workers” He said.
“I.. I don't understand Finn. You already approved my request and.. besides, we do not have few workers”
“If you were around, it would make work faster”
“I am about to go somewhere” I told him.
“Oh sorry Rita, I will grant you this break, another time! My bad!” He said.
“But this is only my first time taking a break from work” I argued.
“Rush down to the office right now! I order you as the boss and not as a friend” He spoke authoritatively and hung up the call.
What??
I called him back to explain reasons why I took the leave of absence but he wouldn't pick it up.
Gosh! I have a flight to catch by 12noon and I have spent a lot to get this booked and ready. And just when I was prepared to leave anytime soon, he ordered that I should rush down to the office.
I could have just ignored him and rush down to the airport instead but I am gonna spend two whole weeks at Canada which means he will throw at me a letter of termination when I return.
I bursted into tears, dropped on the floor and squated on my legs, I began to whimper causing Finn under my breathe. Apart from the fact that I have been looking forward to this day, I have also spent so much; I literally invested all my savings to process this so it could work out in a jiffy now it’s all gone.
I received a notification from Finn, annoyingly jerking me up from the horrible mood.
“I am expecting you in the office in the next ten minutes!” Thus it read.
I screamed at the phone like Finn could hear it.
I quickly struggled to pull off my beautiful outfit and changed into some casual office wear, then I hurriedly left the house for the company
and not the airport.
