A FLIGHT TO CATCH
Rita’s POV
I felt relieved throughout the rest of the day because of the fact that I won't be at work for two good weeks; away from stress, toxic older colleagues and away from CEO Finn.
Evelyn and Adam walked with me to the bus stop so they could extend their farewell.
“I’m amazed Finn didn't come bid you Bye before we left the office” Evelyn broke the silence.
“Poor lover boy, well there were so many clients and visitors today, so he didn't have to chance to express his feelings for me for the next zillion time” We laughed out loud.
“Yeah, poor billionaire CEO” Adam said; “I do not like him one bit ever since he flirted with my Evelyn and maltreated you Rita”
“That was a misunderstanding Adam, and it’s bygone, you should like him now. Aside his sudden feelings for Rita, Finn is a good man” Evelyn retorted.
“Uhm, well once I dislike one already, it’s very much difficult for me to like the person even if he’s changed”
I huffed; “Even Zane, a winning rival is not so mad at Finn like you are Adam. Zane is a sweet man! Oh! I cannot wait to meet him already!” Avidly, I shut my eyes for a little while and had flash imagination of Zane right in front of me. I blushed and opened my eyes.
“Is your flight tomorrow?” Adam asked me.
“Most likely because I should get the feedback tonight”
“Tomorrow” He muttered, nodding his head.
“And she will be returning in two weeks time, I will miss you so much Rita” Evelyn embraced me.
“Yeah, we will miss you so much” Adam added.
“I will miss you both too. Especially watching you both quarrel everyday and settling it immediately” I teased them and they chuckled.
“Rita, did I ever tell you that you’re like the big sister I never got?” Evelyn said.
“Awwwn” I patted her head gently.
She rolled her eyes and took off my hand.
"Well, dear Evelyn, you have always been like a little sister to me, we were never mate” I retorted and she scoffed.
Adam was just there, watching us and smiling widely.

“Hello Zane” I spoke into the phone; he has been tryna to reach me but I kept him on hold. I ignored his calls and told him to call back later but he wouldn’t stop calling.
“Oh good, you finally pick up your phone” He said.
“Zane, I am busy at the moment, I’ll call you later I promise” I held the phone on my ear while I managed to fold my clothes neatly and arrange them into my traveling box.
“No, do not end the call yet Rita. How busy are you that you don’t wanna hear my voice? Or is your strict boss maltreating you again because you have turned him down?”
“No. Zane, I am at home. I just got caught up with something?”
“I hope you’re fine, is there something you aren’t telling me Rita?”
“No, I am not hiding anything from you”
“We haven’t spoken at length like we used to. Yesterday, you were at your parent’s place, today you’re occupied with only God knows what meanwhile you know after-work is the only period during the week we’ve got for ourselves” He paused and spoke softly: “I miss us already. I am addicted to you Rita, I almost cannot do without speaking to you in a day. Come on, will you suspend whatever you are doing and talk to your baby!”
I chucked; “Alright darling, you win!" “Anything for you. But you’ll let me go in the next an hour promise?”
“What? Hold on, are you dating your boss now?”
“Huh no. I turned him down completely, I told you already didn't I?"
“Then who am I sharing our usual conversation duration with?”
“C’mon Zane, I just told how busy I am right now and I need to resolve what I am caught up with as soon as possible”
“Tell me what it is” He interrogated
“Err.. it’s some kind of domestic chores that I need to put in order properly” Yes, that wasn't a lie. I was packing up and preparing for the travel.
“So you’re leaving me for some domestic chores?" He argued.
“Ugh! You’re forcing more words that I don’t have to say outta my mouth” I told him.
“Well finally, I got you to talk to me anyways” He sighed softly. “I do not mean to be clingy forgive me; please give me this attention” He pleaded.
I understood him absolutely because Janet Johnson already explained better why he is in love with me and she had told me to give him attention.
“Uhm Zane, what if there’s another way we can communicate with each other not only through the phone?” I gave him a tiny clue.
“What are you talking about Rita?"
I gave a weird short laugh “Nevermind”
“Hmmn. How are your parents by the way?” He asked.
“They are fine”
“Are you sure?”
Although I lied about visiting them, I wondered what he was tryna insinuate when he asked if I was sure.
“What do you mean am I sure they are fine?”
“They must be eager to know who their daughter is into as much as I am anxious to see them too; when we meet Rita, the first thing I will do is to visit them and ask for their blessings right away” He suddenly suggested.
“Nah” I shook my head like he could see me.”That won’t be the first I wanna do when I meet you “
“Oh goodness Rita! If you are about to spew out something nasty, please swallow it for your own good. I feel bad when you are s*xually aroused and I can’t help but as for me, I promise to practice celibacy till we meet” He implied.
I giggled: “We’ll meet soon, it’s just a matter of time” Another quick hint he couldn't grab.
“It’s not soon enough, for me it’s like a century nonetheless I’m tryna be patient”
“What if I come over?” I was so enthusiastic that it slipped outta my mouth.
“Are you coming over?” He asked me.
“Of course not. At the moment, I have a whole lot to do. Also, I hate traveling long distances. Nah! I can’t travel all the way down to Canada!” I rushed the words, hoping he will buy the lie.
“Oh My God Rita, I will really appreciate it if you would come over. I am an employee, also tied up with work and there’s almost no chance for me to travel down over there to see my people”
“Did you say you would be happy if i come over? I asked to confirm, saying the words one by one.
What about his face scar? that he doesn't want me to see it yet.
Although, I already made up my mind never to resent him no matter what he looks like, I will prove to him that I love him anyways.
But what about him? Now he is literally inviting me over, does it mean he has gotten the plastic surgery.
“Of course Rita, I will be more than happy to see you here” He repeated.
“Oh well, too bad Zane. I cannot come over there, reasons I made mention of earlier”“Maybe sometimes later, I will think about paying you a visit” I said.
“Alright” He responded coldly.
“And uhm Zane, it’s time to end this call” I took the phone off my ears but he hollered. “Wait!”
“What do you have for me? The surprise, I'm still very eager to know what it is” He inquired.
“You naughty boy! Hold on your horses, it's something you would love more than my smut!”
“Okay. So when will you reveal the surprise to me?”
“Err uhm, soon. I gotta go love” I kissed the phone, making a kissing sound then I disconnected the call and sighed heavily.
“That was a close one! Come on Rita, watch it! You almost let the cat outta the bag” I said to myself, hitting my forehead. ”Well, I think I erased the hint. So he will never ever see it coming “
I sat on one leg on my bed then continued arranging the clothes, not leaving out any of the sexy lingeries most especially.
My phone beeped, I checked the notification on the screen.
The flight I booked has been completed and approved.
Flight date and time is Tomorrow, mid day.
